  • In this episode I talk about my amazing Bathurst 12 Hour Experience with Marcos Ambrose and the controversy surrounding undrafted Peak drivers being labeled as "Independent" when they are part of established teams with their own sponsors.

  • Billy Smith Joins Me to Review the 24 Hours of Daytona, and we take your calls.  Billy was having some internet issues on his end, apologizes for the choppy audio in places.

  • The iRacing Daytona 24 Hours is this Saturday!  Will 250 Incidents limits be enough, or WAY to many? Will top spilt driving standards improve?  How will day night transitions pan out?   Will the servers crash?

I take your calls and discuss these topics and more with patreon supporter Billy Smith and  Racespot commentor Connery Maddick who will be calling the race for the iRacing Esport Network.  We also hear from GSRC broadcaster Stefan Schlacher.

  • Part 3 of The Empty Box Interview. Recorded in early March. Things get a little silly in this part as we had been recording for 2 hoirs! Randy, Matt and I are old friends who havent spoken on voice in a long time so it was nice catching up!

    0:00 Intro

0:47 WEC is GEO-Blocked in America. That makes no sense, makes it impossible to find new fans, and really sucks for cord-cutters like me. There is plenty of other great racing out there for free, including the European Le Man Series! Dumb decision.

2:37 May 20, 2018 I'm doing the double, running the Indy 500 and the World 600 on the same day.

3:52 My car was hit by a guy with no insurance. Except he had insurance. Let me explain . . .

    7:45 Getting recognized in public

11:14 In 2013 Randy, Matt and I used to be on a team called New World Sim Sport. I make attempts to get the gang back together, but Matt is having none of it. Then things start getting a little silly.

17:57 Randy and Matt talk about how they used to run Ford GTs in the Proto-GT series. It’s pretty much a private conversation between the two of them on a public podcast.

19:40 I try to get Matt to join the Majors Series, but once again, he’s having none of it. Things again get silly.

    24:20 Did I mention I won the Indy 500?

28:40 Randy and Matt are livin’ the single life

30:04 Girls on Iracing getting creeped on. Guys, just stop it.

31:43 Real Dudes Real Cars - Record in March, so all of our predictions are wrong.

48:20 How pissed off does Matt get when people call out his name when he’s in a race?

50:06 Ok, now things are getting really silly

51:25 My kid’s racing book takes a dump on stock cars. My kid asks weird questions while reading the book.

53:24 Joshua Chin (KingofChins) was also a member of New World Sim Sport. He also wants to bust Matt’s balls about the leaving the team and wants to come on the show.

55:02 Outro. Next week we will discuss the how the Iracing Indy 500 went and play the Interview with Joshua Chin, who, as of Friday morning, is in the top spilt of the 500, on the bubble at P26/33.

  • in this episode I talk about the cancellation of the Six Hours of the Glenn and my fustration that it the community has to pay to fill in the gaps that Iracing is leaving.

Mike Ouellette the owner of The Majors Series joins me to talk about this league, the Iracing World Cup, and things he would do to change Iracing.

00:00 Intro (If you don't get the reference it's ok. It's a 23 year old movie)

00:46 Randy and I recorded an episode where we argued why the Six Hours of the Glenn wasn't rescheduled. Randy took Iracing's side and had a theory as to why it wasn't rescheduled which I completely disagree with. I didn't feel comfortable putting that episode out because it felt like Randy was talking on behalf of Iracing, and I didn't want Randy's take on it to be the official position of Iracing. I hope Iracing can give us an official reason why they didn't reschedule the race.

05:34 I visit the Iracing headquarters to talk about team racing. (Pardoy)

07:43 Craig Williams stepped up and said if Iracing isn't going to run the 6 Hours of the Glenn then he is going to put it on. I ask the question: why does it fall to the community to put on these races, sometimes at a considerable expense, that Iracing should be putting on for free!

08:56 Mike Ouellette joins me to talk about The Majors Series. A league he runs on Iracing that I feel fills a huge hole in the Iracing special event schedule by running 2.4 hour races without driver swaps. We talk about the league, but most importantly to me, is the discussion on how much it costs Mike to run the league. (Spoiler Alert in the Title of the Episode) This is maddening to me. Iracing should be giving us more for our membership.

46:55 Mike also runs the World Cup events for Iracing. We talk about that, and the changes Mike would make if he was also in charge of Special Events and/or E-Sports of Iracing.

  • In light of Empty Box's explosive video commenting on the SR system after his DQ at Bristol, Randy and I discuss the SR system. Then, Randy talks about Red Bull Global Rally's Cross' announcement that they are shutting down. Also, a Rutgers Rant on Tyler Hudson's community management.

    00:00 Intro

00:45 Empty Box is DQed. Welcome to the party pal, I've been getting DQ'ed from NIS since 2013!

3:12 How the SR system works

6:20 Randy backs up my OG status

8:35 I run over a guy on video and get a 4x. Don't do that

9:01 Iracing at first decided 25 Incidents in a 6 hour race would be an appropriate number.

14:50 Iracing listens to the community and increases it to 50 Incidents for a 6 hour race. Ok? So what does that accomplishment? Why even have an incident limit if its going to be set to 50? IRacing needs to determine what they are trying to accomplish with their incident limit system.

    45:17 RIP Global Rally Cross

1:01:55 RutgersKev Rants on Tyler Hudson.

1:14:25 Randy' Segment on Wheel Mapping - He made this like 8 weeks ago. I'm only just now getting around to airing it.

  • Broadcast commentator and "The Observer of Sim Racing" Jake Sparey comes on the show to discuss his drama with streamer and popular Iracing app designer Kutu. http://ir-apps.kutu.ru/

Kutu has been streaming the World Championship Grand Prix series on his Twitch channel: https://www.twitch.tv/kutu182 and Jake Sparey tweeted him his displeasure at that, because he is an broadcaster for Racespot TV, the "Official" Broadcaster of the World Championship Series. Jake's tweet brought a big reaction on Twitter, Twitch and the forums. Jake has now volunteered to come on the show and explain why he sent his tweet.

Thanks Jake for coming on the show! Find his website at http://www.simracingobserver.com

After the conversation, I break it down and give my thoughts.

After that I discuss some voice chat drama a streamer recently got into and issue a caveat to all streamers.

YES I HAD A COLD WHEN i RECORDED THIS!

    0:00 Intro
0:47 Jake introduces himself. I compare him to Paul Heyman of WWE fame
2:49 I break down what transpired between Jake and Kutu on Twitter after the World Championship Race
7:01 Jake explains his tweet and what he meant by it
    9:55 The Sim Racing Observer
12:35 Matt Malone got angry at Jake's Tweet to Kutu and called for all streamers to Unite
17:50 We as a community need to be careful. We are in Iracing's yard. They set the rules, not us.
28:55 Jake's final thoughts and plugs
34:30 RutgersKev gives his thoughts on what transpired.
43:37 A twitch streamer recently got some voice chat that was well outside the sporting code. (THIS IS A NSFW PART OF THE PODCAST)
49:29 Should streamers be held to a higher standard than regular members of Iracing? RutgersKev gives his thoughts on the voicechat he just heard, and issues a warning to all streamers: if you are going to stream, your actions good or bad will be magnified. So think before you act.
