Everyone has gotten a phone call from a scammer at one point or another. I found the perfect way to mess with scammers not only to get revenge, but to make them angry too!
In this episode, I play Richard, who, despite his older age, is a successful business tycoon and investor who has a very busy day of listening to some interesting investment opportunities ahead. When scammers accidentally transfer too much money to me and demand it be sent back, I ask them to help do my job so I can get their money back to them and save theirs. Things of course didn’t really go their way and they weren’t too happy about it!

In this episode, I play an old grandma named Tabitha, and I'm on the phone with scammers claiming to be from Norton Antivirus. They say that I’ve been automatically charged for antivirus software and they can refund me that money by remotely connecting to my computer. The remote connection software is usually safe, but in the hands of scammers, it becomes a dangerous tool they can use to capture your information and lock you out of your computer when things don’t go their way. I let them connect to my virtual machine to try and scam me, but things start to heat up a little bit in the kitchen when grandma starts popping enough popcorn to fill an Olympic sized swimming pool for charity.

This is Part Two of "They Ransomed My Grandson". In this episode, I play Richard who is currently on the phone with scammers pretending to be from Comcast and now the FTC. They’ve promised to help get my grandson out of some legal trouble by calling in a personal favor to the Attorney General of NYC…all in exchange for some gift cards. Lets see just how far these scammers are willing to go to get their money.

In this episode, I play Richard who is on the phone with scammers claiming to work for Comcast. They say that a recent outage has knocked out some of my internet services and to get them working again, I need to let them connect to my computer. Of course, I went along with their script and let them connect to my PC, only to have them send me too much money as part of their refund…or so they said. They called me many times over multiple days to try and get that money back, but things took an interesting turn when they got desperate and decided to ransom my grandson for thousands of dollars instead.

In this episode, I play Richard Johnson, an old grandpa on the phone with scammers who are pretending to be working as federal DEA agents investigating crimes connected to my SSN. What they’re really doing is phishing for my personal information and trying to get me to send them money to clear my name. Things start to get a little bit wild when this scammer demands I go to Target to buy gift cards…

Call Synopsis: SSA Scam - Officer Charles Williams explains that there are illegal actions filed under Richard Johnson’s (Edmund) name for fraudulent activities and there is an arrest warrant out for him. There was a Toyota Corolla found in southern Texas with drugs inside, 10 bank accounts, and 15 credit cards opened using his SSN to launder money. They know Richard is innocent and his SSN has been compromised and are going to guide him through the steps to secure his assets without having to go through the process of freezing his bank accounts. The call is transferred to DEA Officer Ryan who proceeds to rush Richard to the bank to withdraw his money to purchase gift cards which they will exchange for a cashier's check he can deposit once he gets his new SSN tomorrow. Richard takes a while to get to the bank, exceeding speed limits and jamming out to some sick country bops. Once he gets to the bank, he goes through the drive thru to get his money and then proceeds directly into the neighboring McDonalds drive thru, all while Officer Ryan is urgently trying to get him to go to Target to buy gift cards with the withdrawn money. While at McDs, they forget the straw to his nacho smoothie. When Richard finally arrives at Target, he sits in the Target parking lot for a while and eats his food, getting a brain freeze and spilling the frozen nacho smoothie all over himself thanks to no straw. He battles a windstorm getting inside the store. He has trouble finding the gift card section so after taking a detour to get some straws, he asks a Target employee (Nevaeh voice) and lets it slip that he's buying cards for the government. She shows him where the cards are before walking away. Officer Ryan pleads with Richard to get Target gift cards, but he doesn’t understand because technically they’re all Target gift cards since they’re sold at Target. Once he figures out the right ones, Richard starts to be paged over the loudspeakers to come to the front desk since Nevaeh alerted someone to the situation. He asks what to do and is told by an increasingly frustrated Ryan to go through the self checkout and purchase the gift cards. Once he does, he sees the store security guard (Jebidiah) and assumes that he and the DEA are working together. The store security guard stops him, talks to Officer Ryan and offers to help with the investigation. Richard suddenly makes a break for it and Officer Ryan hangs up. Richard calls back from a store bathroom stall where he drops one card in the toilet. The Security officer busts in, detains Richard, and jumps on the call where Ryan tries to get him to read the gift card numbers. After getting frustrated, Ryan tells the security officer to take Richard to the station and hangs up. The security officer calls back and Ryan angrily cusses him out.

This is Part 2 when a scammer tries to "save" my job while I go to get him Apple gift cards. He tries to help Kelly (me) by calling her coworkers and doing everything her boss has asked so she doesn’t get fired.

Call Synopsis: Nevaeh (Kelly Blubock) calls Geek Squad customer service for a Norton antivirus email. Kelly opts to cancel the $369 (nice) antivirus. Grace connects to her computer before transferring her to billing manager Jack. Kelly is working from home (HR) and must call employees and give them the quarterly TPS report. Jack shows her their official business bank (the Chase Business Bank Demo) and then has Kelly log into her bank so he can “merge the banks” and make the transfer. While this is going on, she works her way down the call list and eventually fires Randy. Jack asks her if she has any cryptocurrencies after seeing her bank account and Kelly informs him he gave her ex bf Gabe “like 100 bitcoin” for his birthday back when it was worth very little. Jack shows her the current price and tells her she made the biggest mistake of her life because she would have $4M now.Kelly’s bad day is about to get worse because she fired the wrong person – instead of Andy, she fired Randy. On top of that, when Jack initiates the transfer of her refund to her bank using cmd prompt (aka “the banking server page of Microsoft”), Kelly mistakenly types $5,000 instead of $500 which is reflected in her bank account, and he tells her she might go to prison. To fix her mistake, she needs to go get Apple gift cards but since she’s working, she convinces Jack (and Mark who ended up helping with calls) to call employees and give them the survey. Jack also needs to fire Andy. Even after a near flawless execution of tasks, Kelly loses her job. Jack says he will call her boss Kevin and explain everything to him. He (and Mark?) calls him and full blown confesses that he’s a scammer and that he threatened Kelly to get her to go get gift cards and begs him to give her the job back.
Jack calls Kelly back and tells her he told Kevin everything, breaking down dramatically and crying in an Oscar-worthy performance. For making such a noble sacrifice and lying for the first time in his life, Kelly needs to give him the cards. Kevin decides to suspend Kelly with no pay instead of firing her and Kelly thanks Jack for talking to him, telling him that she will give him the cards once the whole job thing is figured out. Jack threatens to call Kevin back and tell him that he lied and Kelly was doing this for money so she’ll lose her job again, but she promises to get him the cards, leaving things in limbo.

Call Synopsis: Kit (Dawn) and Guest Veritas (Don) Don contact Windows Cancellation Department scammer Christine, classic refund scam. Don and Dawn mix up Christine’s name all through the call which frustrates her. Following a beautiful rendition of Silent night by Dawn and Don, Christine hears Veritas’ guitar and really gets into the singing mood. She sings “na na na na” [Give Me Some Sunshine] and then everyone sings Ocean Man. All while this is going on, Christine edits the HTML of the fake bank hiding the screen so it shows “Pc help” and fakes transferring $10,000 into the account. She uses cmd prompt to issue a refund, typing in an extra two 0’s when Dawn types in 100. Christine grows increasingly frustrated and tells them she will lose her job and be behind the bars. She begins typing instructions in the address bar of chrome, typing “$500 gift card 4 pieces” before correcting it. Don and Dawn think this is absolutely brilliant and promise to cut the cards and Christine screams that they do not have to cut the cards. Don and Dawn call their son who goes to Best Buy to buy Google Play gift cards. They dutifully cut the cards up into tiny shards while Christine has a meltdown. Then, after realizing they didn’t have to cut the cards, they piece them back together with tape and their son helps them redeem them in front of Christine. -
In this episode, special guest Veritas and I call tech support refund scammers as Don and Dawn. We laugh, we sing songs, and we make one scammer really, really mad by taking her directions of getting $500 gift cards in 4 pieces maybe little too literally.

In the last episode, I was talking to scammers claiming to be from Amazon who were helping me remove the supposed hackers from my computer. They noticed I had over a million dollars worth of bitcoin and are now focused on trying to steal it.

Amazon/tech support scam – Edna (Francine Williams) received an email for an iPhone ordered on Amazon despite not having an Amazon account. Scammer (Brian Foster) tells her hackers stole email & set up the account and Amazon credit card. After cancelling, Brian insists that her computer needs upgraded securities that she can only get through him over the phone since her computer has been compromised. Throughout the call, Francine and the scammer deal with horrible glitching, both on the computer and over the phone (remain calm avocado glitch) thanks to her husband daisy chaining microwaves together in an attempt to create the world’s first macrowave. To pay for this upgraded security, Francine attempts to use “bite coin” in her Kraken wallet, if only she could remember her pw. Once she successfully logs in, she discovers that the 32 bitcoin she bought 10 years ago have made her a millionaire. Of course, this money is in immediate danger because of the foreign addresses connected to her computer. Brian transfers the call to the less energetic Chris who clearly doesn’t know what he’s doing, so Francine calls fake bitcoin support. Thinking outside the box, another person from “Amazon Support” (Brian’s company) named Mark calls in pretending to be Bitcoin support eager to cash in on that cool million. When Francine insists on talking to the real Kraken support, Mark thinks outside the box and pretends to be the real Kraken support chat assistance. Francine leaves him hanging when Brian calls back, insisting that he get his payment for the hours of work he spent on her. After insisting she will pay and requesting he send her a bill, Brian gives up for the day and Francine thanks him for helping her become a millionaire. -

In this episode I play Edna, a grandma on the phone with multiple scammers. At one point they decided to pose as a government agent BUT things take a turn for the worst when I join the call as a rival scammer named “Daniel”.

The call kicks off with a scammer battle between Steven and Alex. Alex was doing the classic refund scam and was about to get Target gift cards. Another new guy scammer is called and pretends to be Alex, telling Edna to shut off the computer to disconnect OG Alex. In a poor attempt to sound more legitimate than the OG Alex, he tells her he’s from the FTC and he’s trying to save her and get a hold of OG Alex who is on her computer. After a sudden career change, new guy Alex now works for the FBI and says he will give her a password (blood) so she knows who the true Alex is just in case OG Alex calls back. Daniel from the WWWWTSACTP calls in and says new guy Alex is lying and tries to guide Edna into giving him the Target gift cards instead. When Edna goes to the bathroom, Daniel admits he’s a refund scammer too and proposes he and new guy Alex split the gift cards. When that doesn’t work, Daniel cries and pretends to hang up, only to pop back on a couple minutes later after overhearing the secret password. Daniel then hangs up and spam texts Edna “I’m a vampire I need blood” and “I want to suck your blood”. Alex tries to convince her he needs the card numbers to track Daniel down and arrest him (scammer logic). Alex transfers the call to Officer Albert who threatens to throw Edna behind the bars for assisting in criminal activity by giving the gift cards to Daniel since she sent him two of four cards via text. He tries to convince her that he is investigating the scam and needs the remaining cards to track Daniel down and in turn he will get her all the money back. Edna comes up with a better idea – she spends the gift cards at target.com, ordering $2000 in board games and other toys for her grandchildren. Daniel, who has been listening to the call the entire time, chimes in at the end and calls out Albert saying he’s not from the FBI. Daniel ends by saying he’s the one that works for the FBI and questions Albert about whether his family knows where he works, but he hangs up. -

In this episode I play “Kelly” who is talking to a scammer who claims to be removing the McAfee subscription from my computer. While he’s on my virtual computer he finds fake viruses and claims hackers are on the PC.
In order to be safe, she needs to buy a new IP address and let’s just say he ends up giving a whole new meaning to IP.

Kit (Nevaeh as Kelly) calls McAfee scammer David (later transferred to Terrance) about a subscription renewal notice. She wants to cancel, but when the scammer connects to remove the services, he uses CMD prompt, the latest in antivirus and antihacking technology, and discovers she has hackers on her computer. He delivers the devastating news that her computer will no longer function after a week because of viruses the hackers put on her computer causing stopped processes. He can’t help remove the hackers or the viruses so he gives her a totally legit number for Geek Squad, aka his buddy Peter in the same call center. After discovering the same hackers Terrance did, he informs her she needs a new private IP address because her public one is available to hackers like an “open book” thanks to North Korea. He offers to get her one for the low price of $180 for a 2-year plan. Inevitably, nature calls and mid-sales pitch for this exciting offer, Peter forgets to mute his phone and audibly pees while on the call bringing a whole new meaning to IP. Embarrassed, he tries to play it off by saying another customer was playing a YouTube video which caused that sound. -
This episode is part two of when scammers pretend to be doctors. This scammer is calling our fake patients with survey questions in order to cover my job while I get him gift cards. Call Synopsis: Kit (Nevaeh) calls a “McAfee Support” refund scam. Scammer Sean connects to the computer to issue Nevaeh (Abby) a refund. He transfers the call to Scammer Alex the financial manager/senior supervisor. Nevaeh is working from home (for a doctor’s office – Dr. Z. Oidberg) and takes calls from her boss which increasingly frustrates Alex. They refund her $3500 instead of $350 and demand she pay them back via debit or gift card and lock the computer. Abby is on the verge of losing her job and needs her computer so she proposes that the scammers do her job while she goes to get gift cards. After some convincing, Scammer Mark, the manager, agrees to it. This requires him to call 4 patients (Matilda Sweetwater (Edna), Dallas Smith (Jeb), Samantha Westport, and Geoff Hampton (cranky Edmund ) and give them a survey about their recent doctor appointments. When Abby comes home with the cards, she misinterprets something Matilda told the scammer, accidentally lies to her boss, and is fired. After discovering how the scam works and learning she got tricked, she taunts the scammers and tells them she could do their job better so they should give her a job since their trick made her lose hers. She spends a good part of the call quizzing them about how the scam works and then turns "dark sided" and proposes they should work together to steal from Matilda. The scammer says he will teach her if she gives him the gift cards but maintains that he is not a scammer but that Abby is. Abby hangs up when he won’t admit it but makes sure to thank him for teaching her everything. -
These scammers sent me an email saying they saw an unauthorized charge on my credit card. The only way to cancel it was to allow them to connect to my computer.
I went along with their script and logged into my fake bank account. They edited the HTML making it LOOK like they sent too much money and begged me to send the money back or they’d get fired. I told them I’d send the money back ONLY if they could cover my job at the doctor's office. Let’s just say our office asks patients some interesting questions.

Scammers claim an IP address from Mexico ordered an iPhone using Edna’s account. The scammers caught them, but now they need to initiate a refund for the $529 purchase. After filling out a very realistic Google Amazon Refund form, she is told she typed in $5290 and Amazon has sent that to her bank account, thanks Amazon! The scammer insists that she must pay it back right now or he’ll lose his job. Edna has other plans with this gifted money and buys a top-of the-line mobility scooter.
