This week Doug, Sheila and Fr Mitch discuss the celebration of the week of prayer for Christian Unity through the Catholic Church. They discuss religion with the root meaning to connect again, should be the path to connection. They discuss ways we can connect through faith and the ways that our modern world makes connection difficult. They talk about the roadblocks to unity such as self consciousness (self centeredness), scapegoating and fear. Doug laments about the chaos that seems to be happening all around us and Fr Mitch reminds us that chaos has always been with us and that any sense of control has been an illusion all along. They talk about the ultimate good news that God loves us and promised us a future. Our whole life is a participation in Gods life. We hope you enjoy this episode as we prepare for the next Way retreat coming up on April 2.

Today’s episode was a long time coming! Sheila Doug and Fr Mitch start by completely dodging the question; “Where have you been for the last 6 months?”
Life has been difficult for the whole world and we do not pretend to have all the answers, but we are willing to get together and talk about the questions. Over the last six months we’ve experienced spiritual dryness, sickness and the heartbreak of losing close loved ones. We’ve also started businesses and planned retreats. We’ve experienced depression and anxiety just like the rest of the world. What we didn’t do was honor our commitment to get together and talk about it. But we’re back! Please forgive the technical difficulties. Today we talked about what it feels like to hit the bottom and then find a deeper meaning waiting for us there. We are, as a nation, battling depression anxiety and a search for meaning in life. We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did. As it turns out, it really does help to talk about it. -
Today’s episode is a talk from the last Day on the Way retreat. We explore the many things that obstruct the path of today’s saints causing us to get stuck in the 3 Cs of competition comparison and conformity. Getting stuck in these patterns of thought speech and action cause many of us to unwittingly spend our lives wasting time and energy without growing in wisdom and love. We find ourselves exhausted and feeling that we are not enough even though we are striving constantly. Hope you enjoy the 3 Cs of consciousness commitment and courage.

In today’s episode Doug and Fr Mitch talk about starting another Exodus 90. We discuss the difficulty of not hitting the mark with regard to our diet and exercise goals. Fr Mitch quotes Hafez and urges us to be content with our efforts at living Gods plan for our lives.
This is the season opener for our season on healing from addiction and self loathing. Jesus's public ministry was all about teaching and healing and He told us that we, as His apostles, are called to be profits and healers. The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and the only thing blocking us is our unhealed nature.
This season will focus on some traditional methods of healing and some non traditional methods of healing. We have a great line up of guests and plans for some really interesting conversations. Our hope is to share the light of God’s love with regular folks like us, who are gathering in the darkness to meet the dawn together.

Fr Mitch, Doug, and Sheila all discuss personal experiences with depression and the struggle to allow gratitude and humility bring blessing from it.

Leah did not struggle in high school, but in college, found herself far from her support system and feeling vulnerable. Leah shares the struggles she had with body image and feelings of not measuring up while attending The Franciscan University in Stubenville, Ohio. Leah shares a beautiful story of God’s grace in the middle of difficulty and some amazing thoughts on the power of prayer and refusing to compare herself to others. We had a great time covering these weighty issues that plague the lives of most young (and not so young) women today.

On today's episode, Doug Sauer, Lisa Eaton and Sheila Mahler discuss the differences between mental health and mental illness. The definition of Loneliness is an unpleasant emotional response to perceived isolation. Humans are built for connection, and that is why it is vital that we come up with creative ways to connect with people that help us strive and show up to be the very best we can be. Connection is the key, that opens the door to us being mentally strong and ultimately bringing us closer to God.
