  • Hello friend! Welcome back to another episode of our Unpolished Christmas mini-series. Today’s conversation is all about generosity and meaningful giving, and I’m thrilled to welcome Kristy Graham to the show! Kristy is the host of the On the Ground with Samaritan's Purse podcast, a wife, a mom, and a passionate advocate for serving others in Jesus’ name.

As we dive into the heart of the Christmas season, Kristy and I explore what it means to give gifts that truly last. From acts of service to intentional charity, we’re focusing on generosity as it’s modeled by God through Christ—who gave us the ultimate gift of Himself.

What You’ll Hear in This Episode:

✨ How God’s generosity through Christ transforms how we give.

✨ Why intentional, meaningful giving matters—beyond the material.

✨ Practical ways to incorporate acts of service and charity this Christmas.

✨ Ideas for creating gifts with eternal impact—both big and small.

✨ How to cultivate a spirit of generosity within your family and community.

The Christmas season can often revolve around stuff—the perfect presents wrapped in shiny paper. But when we look at the Christmas story, we see the ultimate example of generosity: God giving us His Son, Jesus, to bring hope, salvation, and everlasting life. As followers of Christ, we have the opportunity to reflect that same spirit of giving in ways that point back to Him.

Kristy shares beautiful, practical ideas for giving with intention this season—whether it’s through acts of kindness, serving others, or supporting organizations that make an eternal impact. Together, we unpack how to shift our mindset from consumerism to Christ-centered generosity.

  • Hello friend! Welcome back to another episode of our Unpolished Christmas mini-series. Today is extra special because we have our very first international guest joining us on Unpolished Faith! Carolyn Lacey, all the way from Worcester, England, is a writer, speaker, pastor’s wife, and Bible teacher. She serves part-time at her church as a women’s worker, regularly teaching the Bible at women’s events and conferences. Carolyn is also a mum to two grown-up children and a passionate advocate for ordinary, life-giving hospitality.

In this episode, we’re talking all about hospitality—what it means to open our hearts and homes to others during the Christmas season, and how we can follow Jesus’ example of extraordinary welcome in ordinary ways. Carolyn reminds us that hospitality isn’t about perfection or impressing others; it’s about making people feel seen, loved, and valued—just as Jesus does for us.

What You’ll Hear in This Episode:

✨ How Jesus models true hospitality and invites everyone to His table.

✨ Why hospitality is about presence, not perfection.

✨ Practical ways to practice simple, meaningful hospitality this Christmas.

✨ Encouragement for those who feel overwhelmed, unqualified, or limited.

✨ How small, ordinary acts of kindness can have an eternal impact.

The Christmas story itself is one of welcome—of God making a way for us to belong through the birth of Jesus. As followers of Christ, we are invited to extend that same heart of hospitality to those around us, even in small, simple ways. Whether it’s inviting a neighbor over for coffee, creating a space for a friend to feel safe, or simply showing up with a generous spirit, Christmas is the perfect time to embody the extraordinary welcome of Jesus.

Let this episode encourage you to set aside the pressure for Pinterest-perfect hospitality and instead embrace the beauty of making room for others in your ordinary, imperfect life. 🎄

Hey friend! Welcome back. Today we will be talking about what it means to wait on God and how Advent mirrors our longing for Christ. Advent is one of those words we hear a lot around this time of year, but what does it really mean? Spoiler alert: it’s not just about cute calendars with tiny chocolates—though no judgment if you thought that because I definitely did. Advent is a beautiful season of anticipation and preparation, and Haley is the perfect person to help us dive into how it can transform not just our holidays but our hearts.

So grab your hot chocolate, peppermint mocha, or other holiday beverage, settle in, and join Haley and I as we explore what Advent is really all about and how it points us back to the hope we have in Jesus.

  • 🎉HAPPY 50th EPISODE OF UNPOLISHED FAITH FRIENDS!!! 🎉 Did you know 90% of podcasts don't make it past their 8th episode?! The only reason this is still happening is because of YOU! I am honored that you are here. I am humbled that you choose to listen—that this space feels like home, where you belong. Truly, doing this thing called Unpolished Faith is the greatest honor of my life so far.

And to celebrate this huge milestone, we’ve got a guest I’ve been so excited to share with you: Beecher Proch from Kingdom Story Company. If you’re not familiar, they’re the creative powerhouse behind some of the most impactful faith-based films out there—Jesus Revolution, Unsung Hero, and the newest, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (which I’ve seen and cried at the end—10/10 recommend!).

Beecher works in what he calls the “can-kicker” role—kicking things down the road in any area to make these stories happen. Today, we’re talking all about why storytelling is at the heart of Christmas and how stories shape our traditions, point us to Jesus, and stir our souls toward something bigger.

What You’ll Hear in This Episode:

✨ Why storytelling is central to the Christmas season.

✨ The role faith-based films play in sharing the gospel and captivating hearts.

✨ How Kingdom Story Company is shaping the future of Christian storytelling.

✨ Behind-the-scenes insights into the making of films like Jesus Revolution and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

✨ Why stories—big or small—can bring hope, beauty, and transformation.

At Christmas, everything ties back to a story—the story of Jesus coming to earth to redeem us. From the nativity scene to the movies we love, stories have a way of anchoring us in truth, stirring wonder, and helping us see the bigger picture. Whether you’re crying at a Hallmark movie or reading about the manger scene for the hundredth time, stories matter because they point us back to the One who gave us the greatest story ever told.

Christmas is often celebrated in grand style—twinkling lights, festive feasts, gift-giving, and worship services filled with joy. But is there a biblical case for making Christmas such a big deal? In this episode, we sit down with Dale Partridge to explore why Christians can unapologetically embrace extravagant celebrations during this season.

We’ll discuss how the incarnation of Jesus—God coming to dwell among us—is the most extraordinary event in human history and why it calls for an equally extraordinary response. Dale shares his thoughts on how big celebrations can glorify God, reflect His generosity, and foster community. We also touch on practical ways to keep Jesus at the center of all the festivities.

  • Hey friend! Welcome back to another episode of Unpolished Faith! Today, we’re bringing back my friend, Patricia Engler to discuss the rise of Marxism in the West, her new book, and if there is hope for Gen Z.

Patricia is a Christian apologetics speaker, author, and podcast host for Answers in Genesis. She joined AiG–Canada as a speaker, writer, and youth outreach coordinator in 2019 before transferring to AiG–US in 2022. She also serves as an Answers News panelist and cohosts Zero Compromise, AiG’s podcast for young adults.

After graduating from homeschooling and earning a BSc degree, Patricia backpacked 360 degrees around the world in 180 days documenting how Christian students keep their faith at university. The top takeaways from this research are available in Patricia’s book, Prepare to Thrive: A Survival Guide for Christian Students. In 2022, she embarked on a second backpacking journey to research Marxism’s history and consequences in Europe. Both backpacking trips formed the basis for separate teaching series available on Patricia’s blog. Patricia is now pursuing an MA in bioethics to help Christians think biblically about sanctity of life issues and emerging technologies.

Why did Satan approach Eve in the garden? Why did Mordecai approach Esther? Because women have influence, but you will not have strong women if you do not have strong men ." -Jaco Booyens

    Y'all.

I am STOKED for today's episode. This is one you will want to download and share with 3 friends! On the show today have Jaco Booyens. Today we are talking about men in the American church, pornography, sex trafficking, and taking up moral leadership. You may think those don't go together, but trust me- they do. Whether you're a man or a woman, be prepared to be on FIRE for what the Lord has called you to do, in such a time as this.

Jaco Booyens is a native of South Africa and an American citizen. Fighting sex trafficking is personal to Jaco. After witnessing the horrors of trafficking through his younger sister, who is now a survivor, Jaco turned abolitionist in 2001. He is a well-recognized speaker on human trafficking, Christian faith, and motivation.

  • Welcome back to another episode of Unpolished Faith friend! Today is October 31, and I cannot tell you how many reels and Tik Toks I have seen over the last couple weeks asking questions like:

    Can Christians participate in Halloween?

Can we watch scary movies? Or even spooky movies like Hocus Pocus?

Can my kids read Harry Potter and Other Things?

Not everything that we encounter in culture today is explicitly laid out in the Bible. So how do we make good decisions about controversial topics that are not laid out in the Bible?

Much like the "meat sacrificed to idols" principle, not everything is good and profitable. We know we live in the world, but we are not of the world. In this conversation, Pastor Robby Brown and I take something like Halloween, a topic that often raises questions among Christians, and use it as an example to lay out a biblical framework for making sound decisions in our modern culture.

Hello friends! Welcome back to another week of Unpolished Faith. I am excited for you to hear this conversation because this is (probably) the most controversial question of all time: "Why does God allow bad things?" Davey Blackburn, founder of Nothing is Wasted Ministries, is here to help us wrestle with this question, the problem of suffering, and the God who works all things together for good.

In 2015, Davey's world was turned upside-down when his wife of 7 years was murdered in their home during a break-in. Since then, God has begun to write a beautiful redemption story of healing, forgiveness, and purpose. Davey has devoted his life to helping others find redemption in their stories and purpose in their pain.

Please be aware that the subjects of my sexual assault and the death of Davey's first wife are briefly discussed within this episode. Listener discretion is advised.
