In our 100th episode, we talk about a landmark weekend in Calgary soccer. Two different Calgary pro soccer teams played home matches on the same weekend. Cavalry FC and the Calgary Wild both delivered wins in their respective matches. We review both matches in our first two segments.

We preview the Cavalry FC vs Pacific matchup at Spruce Meadows on Saturday as well as the Calgary Wild vs Montreal game at McMahon on Sunday.
During our Cavalry segment, we talk about the development of the young prospects on the senior side. In our League One Alberta segment we continue that topic with Francesco Bartolillo, who is the new head coach of Cavalry FC U21 team. He talks about how he returned to his hometown after spending the last decade in BC, what it's like to coach the youngest team in League One Alberta and what are the goals of the U21 side - winning or development or some combination of both?
We also talk about some League One results, Kaylee Hunter representing Canada again, the AMSL season begins and there's a big CMSA tournament on the weekend.

The Calgary Wild finished up their long road trip at York Lions Stadium where they faced AFC Toronto.
One day later, Cavalry FC stepped onto the same pitch to play York United with a better final result.
League One Alberta saw four matches happen on Friday evening, including two matches in Calgary. We talk about Foothills, Callies, Villains and Blizzard. Some familiar faces appeared on the scoresheet for Cavalry U21's. And the Calgary Wild U21 team had a League One debut they'd probably prefer to forget.

Cavalry FC has two upcoming matches at Spruce Meadows. The first is on Saturday where they face Atletico Ottawa who have been in good form this season and are tied for first in the CPL standings. On Tuesday, they face Edmonton Scottish in the first round of the Canadian Championship. This match will be the biggest Calgary vs Edmonton matchup since FC Edmonton folded. We take a few minutes to speculate on the Scottish roster, which could have a lot of familiar faces.
The Calgary Wild make the long road trip to Halifax to face the Tides in their home opener. We preview the game and talk about a couple of Halifax players listeners might be familiar with.
The League One Alberta season began last weekend with a matchup between Calgary Rangers and BTB in Edmonton. We interview Alberta Soccer executive director Lisa Grant about the progress the league has made and what to expect in 2025.

We talk about the Calgary Wild's first ever match. Despite the result, there were a lot of positives overall on the evening. Scott spoke with some fans at the Elephant and Castle during halftime of the Wild watch party. In that interview we learn a few things about the origin of the Wild's logo.
Cavalry FC plays its home opener on Good Friday vs Vancouver FC. We preview the match and also have an interview with Caniggia Elva. In the interview, he talks about his career in Germany, what brought him back to Calgary and why he decided to play for St. Lucia's national team.
We also look at some of the League One Alberta roster announcements as it seems the competition for local players is fierce this year.

Next week Cavalry FC will play their "home" match in the CONCACAF Champions Cup vs Pumas. We review the finalized roster (with no Lowell Wright) and what we expect in this match.
The Calgary Wild announced a few more signings this week, including Calgarians Taegan and Keelyn Stewart. We were at their press conference earlier in the week and asked the twin sisters how it felt to sign for their hometown team.

In our final episode of 2024, we talk about the CONCACAF Champions Cup draw. Cavalry FC will face Pumas from Mexico in their first round matchup in February. There was also the Canadian Championship draw, where we learned that Spruce Meadows will be hosting a team from Edmonton again. Scottish United will be making their debut in the tournament. We go over some roster updates including the departure of Willie Akio.
League One Alberta is back in the news with the announcement that Calgary Villains will be joining in 2025. We interview Calvin Campbell and Jeff Marchant of the Villains, who talk about joining the league and the status of their dome project.
