En aften i slutningen af 2016 sidder en selvmordstruet kvinde i sin bil. Hun er på vej ud til sin psykolog og lige inden hun er fremme, sender han hende en SMS, der detaljereret instruerer hende i, hvad hun skal gøre, når hun ankommer. Hvor hun skal lægge sit tøj, hvor hun selv skal lægge sig, og hvad hun skal gøre. Psykologen har fortalt kvinden, at det er en del af en behandling, som skal hjælpe hende med at håndtere de problemer hun har. Problemer der stammer fra flere seksuelle overgreb i hendes fortid. Og kvinden tror på psykologen - en mand som hun igennem flere år har betroet sig til og fortalt sine dybeste hemmeligheder. Knap to år senere - i efteråret 2018 - får en journalist fra P1 Dokumentar et tip om sagen. Et tip der skal føre til nye opsigtsvækkende oplysninger om psykologen og de myndigheder, der har haft ansvaret for at føre tilsyn med ham.
