The halcyon days of a surf industry boom, travel, more health setbacks and an opinionated take on modern surfing - the second half of Schof’s life story sees him tell Tom and Rob some fantastic tales. After founding what is now No Limit Wetsuits, Schof’s manufacturing and branding career went through the roof. Sponsoring Tom Curren and the Welsh Rugby Team preceded a second kidney failure, in response to which a BBC documentary team accompanied him to the Philippines to make a hard-hitting documentary which added pressure to UK governments to bring in ‘presumed consent’ for organ donation. Schof also talks frankly about his current health situation, before getting into his opinions on the condition of modern surfing - something we’re always happy to hear him debate. An enthralling discussion, from one of Wales’ greatest surf raconteurs.

Quite simply one of our favourite people on earth! A European Champion who's also survived cancer twice and kidney failure twice (as well as getting his golf handicap below 3), Mark Schofield is one of the most enthralling people you could listen to in the English-speaking surf world. Thanks to a carefully constructed, once-off studio in his back garden, Schof has told the incredible ups and downs of his life to Tom and Rob. In part one of this tale, Schof talks of discovering surf stoke, his first realisation of being seriously ill, recovery and golf - before reflecting on why the period in which he won his titles was a golden age in Welsh surfing.

One of the truly giant personalities in Welsh Surfing, Llantwit's Mark Vaughan tells Tom and Rob of a life in surf - which more and more, nowadays, seems to happen in boardies (yes, we do find out why... sort of). This is someone who's been present for, or participating in, many of the biggest moments in the recent surf history of both the British Isles and Europe, and in this frank, open, entertaining and perceptively reflective memoir interview, Vaughanie shares what that ride has been like from behind the wheel.

'I would say I am probably your average Welsh surfer... who just pushes his luck,' says Caerphilly's best export. This is an amazing insight into a uniquely gung-ho mindset - which has seen the unassuming Rob Miles take on Teahupoo, among many more of the world's most challenging pits. Expect humility, humour and many more nonchalant comments like, 'That was my, uh, second broken back', as we'll hear him tell Rob and Elliot. For this episode, the Garden Studio bears witness to how an inspirational surfing life can be forged many thousands of miles from the contest horn (literally). How do you score perfect waves with uncanny reliability? How do you dust off life-changing injury only to charge again months later? And how do you satisfy that appetite for the buzz, time and time again? This week's guest is many things. But 'your average Welsh surfer' is certainly not one of them...

Who misses surf trips, eh? Not us! (We're trying to believe that, at least.) As promised, with travel still off the agenda for a while, our collection of terrible tales kicks off with a prolonged look at the joys, the hardships and the challenges of travel to Indonesia. With Tom and Rob joined by double European Longboard Champion Elliot Dudley, the team also reviews and rates the surf trip nightmares offered up by our previous guests - setting up an overnight leader board for the Crest Surf Trip Gone Wrong Awards.
