  • Hello, my friends, this is it! This is a last call to sign up for the Self-Assured Motherhood program because enrollment closes Thursday at midnight.

This program is for YOU if you often feel overwhelmed and burned out in your motherhood but are also very committed to your family and becoming the mother you want to be.

This program is for YOU if you love gathering parenting strategies, tricks, and scripts from podcasts, social media, and books but don't always know how to apply what you're learning to your actual life.

I don't want you to miss out on this unique opportunity to grow within your motherhood, which is why, for the next 48 hours ONLY, I'm airing my Masterclass that I've been teaching live to groups on Zoom the past few weeks. In this class, I introduce three of my core principles of Self-Assured Motherhood and answer some frequently asked questions about the program.

I hope this limited-time bonus episode will give you a taste of SAM and help you decide if you want to join before the doors close for another year.

  • Living with grief can feel heavy, dark, and confusing. It's a time when it's easy to lose ourselves. Grief looks different for everyone, and if you are in the middle of grieving, my heart aches for you.

I have experienced loss, and I know the deep ache of grief. It's a tender topic that's close to my heart. That's why I'm honored to share Shelby Quinlan's story with you.

Shelby is a former teacher and SAM alumni. She's mom to three girls, and she and her family have been navigating their grief this past year through the loss of a beloved grandparent and also Shelby's sister.

I am so impressed with Shelby's courage to share how she's navigating living with grief while being still in the middle of it. I hope you find her story as inspiring and healing as I have.

  • I always get asked who my Self-Assured Motherhood program is designed for - young moms? moms with young kids? stay-at-home moms? My answer is always emphatically: it’s designed for all moms!

SAM is for all mothers - all ages, all stages, all walks of life. In fact, I often have the women in my program tell me it should be called Self-Assured Womanhood or Self-Assured Personhood because the principles apply so universally. (However, the acronym SAW and SAP don’t have quite the same ring as SAM. Don’t you agree? 😆)

If you’ve been asking yourself if SAM is a good fit for you, you will love my interview with SAM alumni Wanda Opitz.

  • What does a spaghetti dinner have to do with my Self-Assured Motherhood program?
Well, in this episode, I tell you! Come listen in!

My Self-Assured Motherhood Program is open for enrollment TODAY, and I want you to join!

SAM is not like any other parenting education you’ve participated in in the past – where you heard the lessons and felt like you understood them, but then you didn’t actually apply them long-term. This program was developed with your long-term success in mind.

And that’s because the SAM program was designed by a teacher - a professionally trained, extremely experienced, and, at the risk of sounding arrogant, very gifted teacher. 🥰

If you've been on the fence about joining SAM, I hope you'll listen in as I explain why this program REALLY works.

  • This bonus excerpt is one I pulled from Eli's full episode that dropped earlier this week. (If you haven't had a chance to listen, I highly recommend it. It's one of the most value-packed conversations I've had on 3 in 30!)

Because it was so value-packed, we had to trim it to 30 minutes, and I didn't want you to miss out on this fascinating part of the conversation, so I decided to make it a bonus episode.

These thoughts from Eli on co-regulation for parents blew my mind!

I mean, I had heard of co-regulation before, but the scientific evidence behind it is fascinating! I had no idea there were nerve fibers that are activated when I caress my child, and these nerve fibers calm my child's heart down! It takes the old adage "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" to a whole new level. 🤯

Eli's explanation of the science behind co-regulation helps me understand why it is so vital that moms proactively do soul-care. It literally helps us build a buffer so that we don't dysregulate when our kids are dysregulated. It's so powerful!

(By the way, I just did a mini episode on soul-care! Click below to check it out!)

Taking care of ourselves helps us avoid losing our tempers and doing and saying things we regret.

If you want to explore managing your anger so it doesn't negatively impact your children's sense of connection to you, be sure to attend my live online masterclasses over these next two weeks on how to "reroute your mom rage." Click below to sign up!

  • We all know how important it is to raise securely attached kids, but how to do it can be the tricky part!

It's true what they say about parenting: The days are long but the years are short. I feel like the years are flying by with my two kids, who are both now in double digits, and I often find myself wondering how I can parent them in a way that will keep our bonds strong through their teen years and into adulthood - and in a way that they will thrive in their adult relationships after they leave my care.

This is why I've been drawn to the work of therapist and author Eli Harwood, who has dedicated her career to studying research on attachment theory and making it applicable to everyday humans trying to build secure relationships, whether that's the clients in her private practice, the hundreds of thousands who follow her on social media, or the people across the world who read her books.

Eli's newest book, Raising Securely Attached Kids, will be released on September 3, 2024, and it was a thrill to have her back on the podcast to discuss this important topic.

  • Here we are! It's the final day of our two-week-long series on how to become more peaceful, confident, and happy in motherhood.

I have loved this series, and it's also been a ton of work--more work than I had anticipated!

(Though I don't know why I didn't anticipate that airing a podcast episode every weekday for two weeks 🫨 would be a huge challenge. Sometimes things sound easy before you do them, and that was definitely the case with this series!)

But, despite the hard work, I'm so glad I persevered to give you a little deep dive into each one of my nine principles of Self-Assured Motherhood.

My goal for every woman who listens to my podcast or participates in my SAM program is this: I want you to feel more fully yourself as a result of the work that we do together - more deeply accepting of who you are and more able to nurture the best that's already within you, instead of wishing you could be different or "better."

Friends, if you want to do this work with me, I hope you will join my Self-Assured Motherhood program, which opens for enrollment on Monday, September 9th.

  • My kids are headed back to school soon, and they will be doing all sorts of assessments to see how they're doing in math and reading and writing. And this got me thinking: I need to do a series of mini-podcast episodes during this back-to-school season for moms to assess how they are doing, not with balancing equations or diagramming sentences (because I have a feeling most of us would fail those assessments 🥴), but to assess something way more important: our own levels of emotional wellbeing.

Just like last week, this week, Monday-Friday, I will be publishing a mini-episode to introduce you to each of the principles I teach in my Self-Assured Motherhood course, a framework I created for overwhelmed moms. Each principle is an important part of emotional well-being and can help you in your personal assessment of how you're doing.

Today's principle is: Support Their Struggles.

  • The mental load of motherhood is heavy, and I am always on the lookout for ways to lighten it.

    Can you relate?

A surprising discovery I’ve made throughout the years is how dramatic a difference knowing and voicing our values can make in lightening our mental load as moms. When we know ourselves well enough to know our core values, we are able to decrease stress and pressure and build up the structure and support that we need.

Knowing our core values is key to avoiding mom burnout!

I was really grateful to have the opportunity to discuss this at the Happy Mom Summit with JoAnn Crohn. In the interview, I discussed 3 ways knowing our values can help lighten our mental load, and I’m so excited to share them with you today. I absolutely loved being part of the Happy Mom Summit. I hope you find these takeaways helpful in lightening the mental load of motherhood!

  • Values-based budgeting is the key to approaching personal finances without shame and guilt.

Did you even think that was possible?! 🤯

Money is one of those topics that brings up a lot of emotion - usually negative. Guilt, shame, stress, anxiety, frustration… It’s exhausting! We feel guilt and anxiety if we spend. We feel shame if we’re “too stingy.” We feel frustration at ourselves or our situations. Does this sound at all familiar?

I can imagine you nodding in solidarity.

If you’re struggling with the burden of all of these emotions, you’re going to love what Jen Smith has to say. Jen is a personal finance expert and co-host of the top-rated Frugal Friends Podcast. She is also the best-selling author of The No-Spend Challenge Guide and Pay Off Your Debt for Good. She is legit!

  • Are you frustrated trying to figure out how to teach your kids to work? If you’re like me, you bounce around between different systems that are “going to work this time” and feel exasperated when they don’t. I don’t want to be a drill sergeant, but I also know it’s important that my kids grow up with a good work ethic! How do I find the right balance!!??

Thankfully, I was able to interview Danielle Porter. Danielle is a mother of six and someone I admire deeply because she's so careful and intentional in everything she does. I asked Danielle to come and teach me about teaching our kids to work, and to be honest, I was surprised by what she had to share!

I hope you find her takeaways as helpful as I did!

  • Do you like the idea of having a creative hobby but don't feel like you'd be good at it?

I don’t consider myself to be an artistic person, but the truth is, I never even attempt art, so how would I know?

We live in a society that is obsessed with productivity and excellence, so we often don’t give ourselves permission to try a new creative hobby just because we want to or because it feels relaxing or fun.

Lisa Funk of Hand Lettered Design believes that the benefits of having a creative hobby go far beyond a beautiful finished product.

I can't wait for you to read what Lisa has to share.
