  • http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Test Track 2.0 is now gone, but let’s head to EPCOT in Walt Disney World and ride it one last time on this episode of Attraction Checklist.

Attraction audio recorded on June 6, 2024.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we visit EPCOT to ride Test Track

The Walt Disney World website describes this attraction by saying: Design a virtual concept car and put it to the test on this thrilling, high-octane attraction.

Guests must be 40” or taller to ride and the Thrill Level describes the ride as being a Thrill Ride with Small Drops.

Before we hop in a SIM Car, here are five fast facts about Test Track.

    1. Test Track officially opened at EPCOT on March 17, 1999. The attraction replaced the original Epcot attraction World of Motion.

    2. The version of the attraction we are hearing on this episode is known as Test Track 2.0. This version of the attraction opened on December 6, 2012. This version let riders design their perfect test car and then see how well that card did on the attraction.

    3. Test Track vehicles can reach speeds of up to 64.9 mph or 104.4km/h.

    4. The music for Test Track 2.0 was composed by Paul Leonard-Morgan who has composed music for television, film and video games.

    5. On June 17, 2024, Test Track 2.0 closed to make way for Test Track 3.0 which Disney has said will be inspired by the original World of Motion attraction.

Let’s go ride Test Track 2.0 one last time. Now I will say it was really difficult to get a good quality recording of this attraction. The first time I rode it John B. deHaas was with me but the people in the car with us were so noisy and vulgar, we pretty much decided that that audio couldn’t be released publicly. Though it will be released at the same time a this episode as a Patreon Patron exclusive to those Patrons who want to hear. We even included a review, of our fellow riders.

But forgetting about that, here now is Test Track 2.0 and afterwards I’ll give you my thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recordings so if you have headphone put them on now as we experience Test Track 2.0 at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT.

Attraction audio recorded on July 31, 2023.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we visit Disneyland to ride Chip ’n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster.

The Disneyland website describes this attraction by saying, “Twist and turn on a speedy coaster ride built by the inventor mouse from Chip ’n’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers. Riders must be 35” or taller to ride this attraction and the Thrill level describes it as being a Thrill Ride with Small Drops.

Before we climb that tinker toy lift hill, here are 5 fat facts about Chip ’n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster.

    1. Chip ’n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster officially opened with the rest of Mickey’s Toontown on January 24, 1993. On opening day, the ride was called Gadget’s Go Coaster.

    2. Having only a 44 second duration, this roller coaster is the shortest attraction in Disneyland.

    3. Chip ’n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster reaches heights of 27.9ft (8.5 meters) and soars up to speeds of 21.7 mph (34.9 km/h)

    4. The character of Gadget, you greets you as you travel up the lift hill, is voiced by Tress MacNeille.

    5. The ride was closed for refurbishment in 2022 and when it reopened in March of 2023 it had a new name and new figures of Chip, Dale and Zipper from the show Chip ’n’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers.

Let’s go squeeze ourselves into the impossible tiny cars of Chip ’n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster. Joining me the ride is John B. deHaas and After the attraction audio, we’ll give you our thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recordings so if you have headphone put them on now as we experience Chip ’n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster at Disneyland

Before we ride, here are five fast facts about Disneyland’s Monorail.

  • http://www.attractionchecklist.com - For a short time Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World had a daytime show called Disney’s KiteTales. We take a look at this now defunct show on this episode of Attraction Checklist.

Attraction audio recorded on July 17, 2022.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we go back in time to Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World to experience the show Disney’s KiteTales.

There were no age or height requirements for this attraction and the show was described by saying, “Hearts and imaginations will soar as incredible kites and windcatchers dance through the air to the beat of beloved Disney songs during this high-flying performance at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.”

Before we watch the kites take to the sky, here are 5 fast facts about Disney’s KiteTales.

    1. Disney KiteTales debuted at the Discovery River Theater in Animal Kingdom on October 1, 2021.

    2. Performances of Disney’s KiteTales happened several times a day and alternated between a few different shows. One show was focused round The Jungle Book and features songs such as The Bare Necessities, Colonel Hathi’s March and I wanna be Like You.

    3. The second show, the show featured in this episode’s recording, was centered around The Lion King and featured songs like I Just Can’t Wait To Be King, Hakuna Matata and Circle of Life. As the shows went on and popularity of the show waned, songs were cut from both shows.

    4. The show employed six jet-skis that pulled 30 foot long kites around the lagoon during the show while performers with smaller kites performed around the water’s edge.

    5. Disney’s KiteTales had its final performance on September 30, 2022.

Let’s go pay tribute to the long gone Disney’s KiteTales. After the attraction audio, I’ll give you my thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recordings so if you have headphone put them on now as we experience Disney’s KiteTales at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

It’s time to see what changes were made to Disneyland’s Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin on this episode of Attraction Checklist. Attraction audio recorded on July 31, 2023.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode takes us to Toontown in Disneyland to see the updated Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin.

We covered this attraction back in episode 82 of Attraction Checklist but here are a few more fast facts about the recent updates.

    1. In December of 2021, several changes were made to the attraction, the main one being the addition of a storyline featuring Jessica Rabbit. In the previous incarnation of the ride she was seen as more of a damsel in distress in the opening scene. The update finds her in charge, helping stop the Weasels in her new bright yellow trench coat and fedora.

    2. When Toontown closed for the addition of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin got a refurbishment with some polish and effect tweaks. The updated version opened on March 19, 2023.

Now let’s go ride the updated Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. John B. deHaas is along for the fun and we’ll give you our thoughts on the updates after we ride. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphone put them on now as we ride Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin at Disneyland.

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we’re going to do something I’ve wanted to do on this podcast for awhile. Looking back over the previous 145 episodes, I wondered if it would be possible to put together an episode where together it sounds like we’re spending a whole day together at EPCOT. No tired feet from walking around World Showcase, no waiting in line, just attraction after attraction from EPCOT and end the evening with a classic nighttime spectacular. So now, thanks to the magic of my editor Stephen Staver, let’s spend a day at EPCOT on this episode of Attraction Checklist.

  • http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Let’s see what entertainment Main Street USA at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom has to offer as we experience Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade and a performance by The Dapper Dans on this episode of Attraction Checklist. Attraction audio recorded on July 15, 2022.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we experience two Magic Kingdom Main Street USA Attractions: Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade and The Dapper Dans.

Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade is lazily described in the guide map by saying: Favorite Disney pals march along the parade route throughout the day. The Dapper Dans are not mentioned in the guide maps that I’ve seen but are described on the Disney World Website by saying: This lively barbershop quartet sings in harmony, tap dances in time and charms audiences with vaudeville humor.

Both of these attractions are listed as being for all ages.

Before we stake out our spot on Main Street, here are five fast facts about Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade and The Dapper Dans.

    1. Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade is a short pop up parade that debuted for Walt Disney World’s 50th Celebration. It ran several times daily through March 2023 when it ended its run.

    2. Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade features appearances by Mini Mouse, Goofy, Donald and Daisy, Pluto, Chip and Dale and, of course, Mickey Mouse.

    3. The Dapper Dans have been performing on Main Street USA at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom since the park’s opening in 1971.

    4. The bell like instruments played by The Dapper Dans are called Deagen Organ Chimes.

    5. During the holidays season, The Dapper Dans will add Christmas songs to their repertoire. And during Halloween events they are rebranded as The Cadaver Dans and sing a selection of spooky tunes.

Let’s now head to Main Street to check out not one, but two attractions. John B. deHaas is along for the fun and we’ll give you our thoughts on these attractions as we experience them. These are binaural recordings so if you have headphone put them on now as we experience Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade and The Dapper Dans at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

Join me as I head to EPCOT to see for the first time and bid farewell to the nighttime spectacular Harmonious on this episode of Attraction Checklist.

Attraction audio recorded on February 25, 2023.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we experience EPCOT’s current (as of this recording in March of 2023) nighttime spectacular Harmonious.

There are no age or height requirements for Harmonious and the guide map describes it by saying, “Discover how Disney music and stories have the power to bring people from all around the world together to unlock the magic of possibility.” There is no thrill level listed for this attraction.

Before we head to World Showcase Lagoon, here are 5 more fast facts about Harmonious.

    1. Harmonious was announced at the D23 Destination D event in 2018. It was set to replace EPCOT Forever in 2020 but was delayed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. After a few test performances, Harmonious officially debuted on October 1, 2021. The show replaced Epcot Forever which we covered on episode 94 of this podcast.

    2. The show make use of pyrotechnics, choreographed water fountains, lasers, searchlights, floating set pieces and LED screens

    3. The show’s barges are collectively known as The Compass. The four arc-shaped barges are named after the nearest intersecting World Showcase pavilion. They are Mexico, Germany, Canada and France. The center platform holds a six story tall ring that houses a high pressure water curtain for show projections.

    4. An album featuring the show’s soundtrack was released by Walt Disney Records on October 29, 2021.

    5. On September 11, 2022, Disney announced that Harmonious would have it’s last performance on April 2, 2023, to be replaced by the returning Epcot Forever.

Let’s check out Harmonious at EPCOT. This recording captures the first (and last) time I’ll be seeing the show so I’ll give you my thoughts afterwards. This is a binaural recording so If you have headphones, put them on now as we experience Harmonious at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT!

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we visit Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World to preview TRON Lightcyle / Run.

This attraction is not listed in the Magic Kingdom guidemap at the time of this recording but the Walt Disney World Website describes it by saying, “Speed across a world with no horizons in a high-stakes race based on the Disney sci-fi film TRON: Legacy.”

Guests must be 48 inches or taller in order to ride and the Thrill Level describes the attraction as being a Thrill Ride in the Dark with Big Drops.

Before we join Team Blue for our run, here are five fast facts about TRON Lightcycle / Run.

    1. Tron Lightcycle / Run is a copy of an attraction located in Shanghai Disneyland where it’s called Tron Lightcycle Power Run. The Shanghai version of the attraction opened on June 16, 2016. On July 15, 2017, Disney announced that Magic Kingdom would be getting its own version of the ride. Originally scheduled to open in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, the opening was pushed back due to the COVID 19 Pandemic. The ride is schedule to officially open on April 4, 2023.

    3. The attraction reaches speeds of nearly 60 miles per hour, the fastest for any Disney Roller Coaster.

    4. The attraction features 7 trains with 7 cars per train. While most of the seats on the attraction feature the lightcycle seating, a few of the trains have regular roller coaster seats in the back with a traditional lap bar for those who don’t want the bike experience.

    5. According to WIkiPedia, the music heard on the attraction was created by Joseph Trapanese and Daft Punk.

This episode we ride Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the guide map describes the ride saying, “Ride this mass transit system of the future.” The thrill level describes the PeopleMover attraction as a slow ride.

We covered the PeopleMover way back in episode 26, but here are 5 more fast facts about the ride.

    1. When we originally covered the ride back in 2017, it was sponsored by Alamo. The ride is now listed as being Presented by Enterprise.

    2. On July 1, 2022, the ride received a brand new Narration track, replacing the previous narration done by Mike Brassell.

    3. If you listen closely, the new Narration features several tributes to past Tomorrowland attractions including If You Had WIngs, The Time Keeper and the 1975 version of The Carousel of Progress.

    4. The three note chime that proceeds announcements during the ride has returned. It hadn’t been heard since 2009.

    5. The new narration also references, for the first time, the new Tron Lightcyle Run attraction.

Let’s head to Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World to check out the latest version of The Hall of Presidents on this episode of Attraction Checklist. Attraction audio recorded on July 15, 2022.

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Welcome to Attraction Checklist.

This episode we visit Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World to check out the latest updates to The Hall of Presidents.

The guide map describes this attraction saying, “Behold all the U.S. Presidents on stage together.”

There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and there is no Thrill Level notes.

Now, The Hall of Presidents is the one attraction at Magic Kingdom that you can count on to get updated every 4 to 8 years. This is the third time we’ve visited it on this Attraction Checklist so we may not have 5 fast facts, but here are a few fast facts about the latest version of this attraction.

In January 19 2021, The Hall of Presidents was closed for refurbishment. On July 19, 2021, Disney announced that President Joe Biden would be added to the attraction and the attraction itself reopened on August 3, 2021. The film The Idea of a President that had debuted in the previous version of the attraction, remained. Keeping with tradition, President Joe Biden voiced his animatronic figure but in a departure from previous versions, the President Biden figure only recites the Oath of Office and does not give a follow up speech.

Let’s go visit The Hall or Presidents. Joining me today is John B. deHaas and after the show we’ll give you our thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we experience The Hall of Presidents at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
