As a child, I grew up around alcoholism, violence and abuse in a home with 7 other siblings. As the second to youngest I watched as the older siblings finally left home in the middle of the night to escape. As the age of 15 I left too and began the journey of trying to heal the damage done by the trauma I had endured. Eventually I was able to go to school myself and have been working as a psychologist for many years. I realized recently that it was partially my responsibility to speak about what therapy is and what it isn't so that more people can get assistance and begin to life a more fulfilled life.

Be The Weight Behind The Spear
America is as divided-generationally and politically-as it has ever been. But the strength of America has always been its people. Our teachers, families, coaches, mentors, and volunteers have the opportunity to shape America's future. In doing so, they will not only improve individual lives, but also have the biggest impact on our national security. With 20 years of working in the trenches of America's emergency rooms and with 22 years of military service, Dr. (Colonel) McConkey combines lessons of leadership and poignant examples of how we can move Americans forward. Be the Weight Behind the Spear encourages a national dialogue on the importance of motivating all Americans to be the weight behind the spears of America's future leaders. Our national security and our future depends on it.

Against All Odds: A Memoir
A story of resilience, courage, and the power of dreams...
From a young age, Tristian's life was marked by chaos and uncertainty. Witnessing his mother being taken away on a stretcher was a pivotal moment that thrust him and his younger brother into a turbulent existence within the foster care system. They bounced from one temporary shelter to another, grappling with abuse, neglect, and the haunting specter of trauma. But amidst the darkness, a flame burned brightly within Tristian's soul. Dreams became his sanctuary, providing solace and fueling his unwavering determination to rise above his circumstances.
Tristian's memoir is not just a personal narrative-it sheds light on the broader societal issues surrounding foster care. With staggering statistics, he underscores the challenges faced by children in the system and gives a voice to those whose stories often go unheard. Through his writing, Tristian aims to foster empathy and understanding, urging readers to confront the flaws and shortcomings of the foster care system within. His ultimate goal is to inspire positive change and create a more compassionate and supportive system for future generations.

Wolves Among Us: Biblical Principles To Identify And Expose Spiritual Predators
Wolves are predators, but wolves posing as sheep are hard to discern. In Matthew 7, Jesus equates false prophets to “ravenous wolves” and commands His disciples to beware because they will come disguised as His sheep. In Wolves Among Us, Linda Shirey writes to church congregants who share her conviction of being under church authority but not to be used and abused.
While spiritual wolves pose a real disruptive and destructive danger to Christ’s bride, He has equipped her with all she needs to identify, address, and expose these spiritual predators. Christ said, “You will know them by their fruit.” But are wolves in the church that easy to spot?

The Abundance of Less: A Social Experiment of Not Buying Anything New for One Year
Finding the Wholeness, Community, and Meaning that Money Couldn’t Buy
Have you ever looked around your house and wondered, How did I get so much stuff? That stuff gets LOUD.
Studies have shown that excessive amounts of clutter rob us of joy, peace, and rest, giving us instead, stress and anxiety, less sleep, lowered productivity, and diminished overall wellness. And yet, we keep consuming more and more of the many things we still apparently need to be happy and whole.
In 2010, Marcy looked around her house, surrounded by all the clutter, and felt ill. She realized that they’d been stuck in a cycle of consumerism—swept into a culture of convenience without any awareness of it, and knew that something had to change. They decided as a family, that they wanted no more—more.
