When a family is getting a new puppy, one of the first questions they ask a Breeder is "how big will my puppy get?". Now, while I do believe this should be one of the last questions you should ask (and should instead be asking about the temperament training the Breeder does through their curriculum program), I DO understand why this is an important factor to many families.
However, instead of asking for the weight prediction, I recommend asking the Breeder the following question instead to give you a more reliable indication on how big your puppy will grow to. Check out the episode to find out!

This week I had to make the very big decision on which puppy I wanted to keep from my current litter of Cavoodles to add into my family. After stressing about it for weeks, it was finally time to do the puppy evaluations where we test their temperament traits to give us an idea of which type of home would suit each puppy best. I wanted to step back in time a little bit today and chat about how my experience with working in a Veterinary Clinic, Grooming Salon, Training Organisation and as a Breeder has shaped my approach to coaching Cavoodles. From having a Cavoodle who suffered severe anxiety to raising many who have been confident, calm and anxiety free, my goal in life is to help more families experience this joy of an easy puppy!

Before starting my business specialising in Cavoodles, I worked as a Puppy School Trainer and it opened my eyes to a few key facts about the type of training done in these classes and their suitability to different breeds. As always, Cavoodles are at the forefront of my mind and I must say, Puppy School isn't my first pick when it comes to training this breed and shaping them into a "good dog". Getting two puppies at once seems good in theory as they'll play with each other and possibly prevent seperation anxiety from forming...but I have to say, I just don't recommend it for the reasons I've outlined in this episode. Have a listen and let me know your thoughts... [email protected]

Ten years ago, whenever I heard someone had "crate trained" their dog, I was HORRIFIED. In my mind, it was cruel to cage a puppy up like that and I couldn't understand how it could be beneficial at all - let alone not actually be cruel or mean.

The amount of times someone has said to me, "Boy dogs are more affectionate and playful while girl dogs are more standoffish," is insane! And everytime I hear it, I internally wince because it's so far from the truth.
We cannot continue to make generalisations about the temperament of dogs based on their gender and a family definitely should NOT be making such a huge, 15 year commitment based off these claims.
So in today's episode, I want to explain what information a family SHOULD be basing their decisions on when getting a puppy.
