  • How Do You Give Yourself Time To Rest Without Losing Productivity or Falling Behind?

Now I know what you’re thinking… "I took time off, now I’m behind." How do you take a day away, and not feel behind? The math doesn’t math.

Let’s flip that. Taking time off doesn’t set you back—it sets you up. If you keep doing more, you are going to keep being busy. You feel like you cannot rest, but at the same time, you cannot afford not to.

There’s a misconception that rest means you stop and do nothing. That’s not it. Rest means actively filling up your tank. What nourishes you? For me, it’s standing barefoot in the sunshine, breathing fresh air, and listening to my kids laugh. These moments are FREE and available NOW. It's not when you get to a certain level of success in your business. It's also for while you are on your way there.

Resting does not put you behind, it better positions you to do what you’ve been called to do. And now you can do it from a place of poise and restoration. You’re no longer running on empty in any or all of the areas of your life.

  • What if your copywriting felt fun, effortless, and true to who you are? That is what’s possible for you when you embrace the right copywriting mindset. But let’s be honest—it is easy for fear, stress, and perfectionism to creep in during the writing process. Which can be both frustrating and exhausting. That’s when we overthink every word, second-guess our instincts, and lose sight of what really matters.

In this episode, we’re getting to the root of the problem with mindset coach Brian McCarthy. He helps six-figure business owners release the subconscious fears holding them back. Brian’s take on the copywriting mindset will change how you approach your writing. Because doing this first accelerates all of the other pieces of the process. It’s not just about techniques or templates; it’s about connecting with yourself first. When you write from a place of authenticity and confidence, everything flows—your words, your business, your energy.

It’s time for you to finally write with joy and freedom. Let’s uncover the mindset that makes it possible.

0:03:01 - The importance of research in copywriting—and the important part of the process most of us miss.
0:05:32 - The challenges of articulating one's own identity and stories in copywriting.

0:23:00 - Practical tips for improving writing mindset

  • Want to write faster emails? Forget templates, stop waiting or scrolling for inspiration, and no more trying to write the perfect email. All of these things that are supposed to be helping you are actually slowing you down. I wrote five sales emails in under an hour—and they converted.

I hear too many business owners spending 2 hours writing one email or one post, so today I’m going to share how I do it so much faster. The one thing that all of my multi-6 and 7-figure DFY clients have in common is that they ALL send emails to their list regularly (at least weekly). Email marketing is the backbone of how they nurture, connect, and convert. Writing good emails quickly is one of the most important skills you can develop as a business owner.

A couple months ago, I set a challenge for myself: batch write my weekly emails in one hour per month. I surprised myself and have been on average writing five emails in 55 minutes. The first week I wrote 3 emails in 30 minutes. So I’m averaging about one email every 10 minutes for my own business from scratch (and they’ve already sold!).

If you’re wondering how I did it, I’ll walk you through exactly what worked for me to write quickly and effectively. The best part? You can replicate this process, even if you’re dealing with mom brain, distractions, or a packed schedule (because same). Do this as you are writing your holiday and end-of-year sales copy. Your email writing productivity is about to get an overhaul. Tune in to hear how I pulled it off.

0:01:20 - The one thing all of my 6 and 7-figure DFY clients are doing in common

  • LinkedIn is a powerful platform, but many people misuse it with long, salesy message or straight out pitch before even building a connection. This approach is a huge turn off because clearly they didn’t even take two seconds to look at your profile. • Your biggest business growth secret? It may not be sales tactics—it's storytelling. Storytelling is a powerful tool for building emotional connections and creating lasting relationships with your audience. It’s how you show your authenticity, share your experiences, and invite others to connect with you on a deeper level.

In this episode, April Adams Pertuis, the founder of Lightbeamers, helps people and brands to help them tell their story in a more authentic way.

If you’ve ever wondered how to share your story or felt unsure about what parts of your journey to even talk about or highlight, this episode is for you. We’ll walk you through the process of finding and telling the right stories to connect with your ideal clients. By the end, you’ll feel inspired and ready to leverage storytelling in your business. Let’s get started!

0:03:22 - The most relatable stories are often the small, everyday moments, not the big, life-changing events.
0:06:04 - Understand your audience deeply to tell stories that resonate and create connection points.
0:09:16 - April explains how focusing on service rather than self helps overcome discomfort with visibility.
0:13:04 - Detaching from the outcome makes storytelling easier and more authentic in building relationships.
0:16:01 - April shares how storytelling helps articulate your brand, making it more relatable and visible to the right audience.
0:20:12 - Knowing your ideal client is key to determining which parts of your story to share and how to make it relevant.
0:23:45 - Consistent visibility and storytelling help build trust and relationships over time.
0:26:50 - Storytelling is a subtle but powerful soft skill, often overlooked in favor of technical marketing tactics.
0:30:55 - How April’s consistency in storytelling and visibility helped a client connect and work with her before they even spoke directly.
0:42:40 - It's not about using hacks, but owning your story and showing up authentically to attract your audience.

  • This case study is how my work as a copywriter helped 5x email revenue for a physical product brand…and even though that is so far from my niche of working with online service providers and coaches, many of the same principles apply. The big thing is that our values aligned, and that is what has made us a great team.

We first started working together in August 2023 and have seen incredible results, including:

In the first 4 months of working together we made more money through email marketing than the previous two years combined trying to do it on her own. On average, she made about 5x more per email once we started working together. This year’s email revenue 2024 has already surpassed last year’s, even though we still have all of Q4 remaining at the time of recording. (And we haven’t even gotten to Black Friday yet, which is statistically the highest revenue month).

And this all happened in less than 1 hour per month of her time. Let’s dive into how we did it.
