So they might plan a refreshing road trip to “ Sweet Home Alabama”. Lot’s to see in those lovely old town squares. I’m sure you will find at least one of these historical landmarks will fit nicely in your summertime bucket list for summer 2024. I want to try Cammie’s, Creole Praline, in Mobile Alabama. • Cornbread & Buttermilk entered the 35th Helen Trout Tournament held on Saturday March 30th. Arriving 2 days early so we practice our casting, in case we’re had gotten rusty. We had a comfortable stay in the Unicoi lodge. We discuss beloved vintage bamboo fly rods, and cooking Trout the Ernest Hemingway way. Corn bread mentioned the book ‘Basque Country , a culinary journey through a food lovers paradise,´ by Marti Buckley. Marti Buckley is a southern chef and writer from Alabama. She has nice twist on cooking trout in her book, the recipe was also published in Garden and Gun magazine. We talk about Betty´s Country Store, and her Deli sandwiches that we love, Moon Pies, Coca-Cola, and giant cookies..
CORRECTION: That was 400 pounds of trophy trout put in the Chattahoochee for the tournament, not 400 trophy trout.

  • Cornbread & Buttermilk are reminiscing over childhood Easter’s in the Deep South. Find out what Easter was like at Maw-maws house. They recall how dressing for Easter was a part of southern culture. Azaleas and Dogwood trees, were the backdrops for family photos. Of coarse there were the Easter Egg Hunts held on emerald green manicured lawns. The azalea bush made a perfect hiding place for the treasured Golden Easter Egg. From pound cake, to coconut cake, and sweet potato pie, Easter’s in the south was a sweet affair for decerning palates. The secret formula for Coco-Cola can not be revealed, however Coca-Cola was the secret southern ingredient that gave the Easter ham that rich golden glaze. We hope ya’ll enjoy the episode, and have a safe and happy Easter. God Bless ya’ll!
