This week, we're throwing it back to another of our favorite battles. They are easily two of the best sci-fi films of the past 20 years, so this was far from easy. Time to fight it out once again! We're tackling two of Tom Cruise's best - Minority Report and Edge of Tomorrow (AKA Live, Die, Repeat). As always, this versus episode gets bloody, and it's all for your amusement. Enjoy! This week, we're revisiting our ultimate mafia showdown. Goodfellas and The Godfather are the quintessential mob movies, but to call them that would hardly do them justice. Under the masterful direction of Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola, these films brought a nuance and humanity to the world of organized crime that has been hard to replicate. We put these two masterpieces up against each other to see which would come out on top, and while we might crown a winner, the victor only wins by a microscopic hair. In this episode of Get 2 the Podcast, we’re pitting the two assassins against each other to see who comes out on top. We’re tackling skill sets, cinematic realism and the pure joy of the movies themselves in an attempt to declare a winner. We're nowhere close to Halloween, but there are plenty of horrors in the world regardless. Here's this week's revisit: Freddy vs Jason vs Michael Myers. As All Hallow's Eve steadily creeps towards us, we thought it fitting to pit three of cinema's ultimate baddies against each other. After making a deal with the devil, Freddy Krueger haunts your nightmares wielding his signature razor-clad glove. There's no escaping this pizza-faced bad guy, not even Johnny Depp is safe. Jason Voorhees, star of the Friday the 13th films, has a bit of a murky backstory, but one thing's for sure, he loves dicing up any teen who even thinks of enjoying a summer by his lake. Finally, there's Michael Myers. This silent killer is the embodiment of pure evil and is the kind of guy that never knows when to quit. Myers can even make a William Shatner Halloween mask look scary. Who will win in this take-no-prisoners blood fest? From the camp to the gory, the seemingly endless titles in these 3 franchises offers up plenty to debate. Make sure to follow us - @get2themovies on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram!

Blockbusters, tentpole movies, indie films - we hear these terms thrown around but what do they actually mean? In this episode we're talking where the movie industry is headed and why studios seem obsessed with primarily pushing franchises. Sometimes it's hard to maintain artistic vision when appealing to the lowest common denominator seems to bring in the dollars. Plus, we look at how Netflix is changing the model and making a safe place for indie films and true artists.

We're throwing it back to 2018 for our James Bond vs Mission Impossible epic throwdown. Enjoy! In honor of the release of Mission: Impossible - Fallout, we're pitting Ethan Hunt and team up against that other kinda famous spy franchise. That's right, we're talking about Bond...James Bond. This is IMF vs MI6. It's MI6 vs M:I6. Tom Cruise vs...a bunch of guys. Neal is dead certain 007 is the obvious winner, citing iconic portrayals by Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. But Thiago and Nick aren't having any of that. Each has valid points but it just depends on who can shout their's the loudest. If there's one thing we can agree on, it's that both franchises have delivered up some of the best action cinema of the past 50 years. With the COVID-19 pandemic delaying the release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife (not to mention several others), we figured this was a good time to revisit our Ghostbusters vs Ghostbusters 2 battle. When you need a debate between the original Ghostbusters, who you gonna call? Not Nick, Neal and Thiago, that’s for sure. In this episode we descend into the final stages of absolute madness as we battle it out over which is better, Ghostbusters or Ghostbusters 2. While the popular consensus usually points to the original as the superior film, Neal and Thiago have something to say about that. From the scene-stealing Lord Viggo and Janosz to a walking Statue of Liberty and Bobby Brown tunes, they fight tooth and claw to crown the sequel the winner. Of course, Nick in his relentless mission to prove them wrong, doesn’t take his punches laying down. In what should have been a no-brainer, he has to scream to make sure his points are heard. He pulls out all stops with movie quotes, plot logic and examples of #2’s cartoonish antics. At the end of the day, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Rick Moranis have rarely been in better shape as comedians. The funny exists in both movies, a lot of which was improvised on the spot. Whether you like the first or the second (if you like the reboot more than both of these, you can honestly just go eff yourself), you probably agree that both are infinitely quotable and have only gotten better with age. We hope you enjoy our battle royale. We certainly had fun screaming at each other for nearly an hour, all for your entertainment. We came, we saw, we kicked each other’s ass! This week, we're throwing it all the way back to Episode 3 where we discussed the then upcoming "Alien: Covenant," but more importantly, this is the episode where we pit James Cameron against Ridley Scott. The two iconic directors are up there on the Mount Rushmore of filmmakers, with multiple timeless movies in each of their filmographies. In an effort to make sure Ridley Scott gets his just due in the history books, we battle it out with a detailed argument for who would win in the James Cameron vs Ridley Scott showdown. This week, we dig into the Get 2 the Movies vault for an oldie but goodie. We've argued in numerous versus episodes over the years, but this second installment of our ongoing face-off series is easily our most popular. In this particular episode, we pit two iconic directors against each other - Stanley Kubrick vs Christopher Nolan. Listen as we get in a heated debate over who's the better director. This quarantine life has us reaching back into our vault for the best filmmaker interviews. Our interview with director Taron Lexton is one of our favorites. This is a deep dive into what makes a film career, from the struggle to the inevitable pay-off when you stay true to the art. Taron shows no signs of stopping either. The "In Search of Fellini' director is currently shooting on all 7 continents for his next film "Nomad." This week, we continue highlighting our favorite interviews from the past 3 years, with the star of the 80s classic BMX film
"Rad" - Bill Allen. With a career spanning over 30 years, he's worked with the likes of George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Robert Altman and so many others. We grew up watching him in Steven Spielberg's "Amazing Stories," Oliver Stone's "Born on the Fourth of July" and of course the 80s classic "Rad"! Bill discusses behind the scenes details of the making of "Rad" and "Born on the Fourth of July," as well as details of his time spent with his best friend Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee. A fascinating interview that'll keep you enraptured right to the end. Make sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - @Get2theMovies - to stay updated on all new episodes. -
It's a weird time for all of us right now thanks to a certain pandemic keeping people indoors. Well, instead of sitting around doing nothing, we decided to use this as an excuse to re-visit some of our favorite interviews over the past 3 years. This week, we're looking all the way back to Episode 6 and our interview with Bradley Pierce. The accomplished actor starred in such 90s classics as Beauty and the Beast (as Chip), Jumanji and the Sonic the Hedgehog animated series. You'll hear behind-the-scenes stories of Robin Williams and what it was like working on the set of some of our favorite childhood movies. And for those new to the show, you'll hear our old intro and outro and mention of our previous name, Get 2 the Podcast. Catch up with Bradley at MrBradleyPierce.com or on social media @MrBradleyPierce. Make sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - @Get2theMovies - to stay updated on all new episodes.

Well, in an effort to help stop the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we broke down and recorded in different locations for the first time since we started Get 2 the Movies in March 2017. Thiago hordes all the equipment we use to record the podcast, so you might notice he sounds a lot better than Neal and Nick, but that doesn't stop all the quality content coming from N&N. In this episode, we're talking about movies and shows you can watch from home while you wait out this virus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone! With recent efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus, or more accurately COVID-19, we decided to look at the topic of disease outbreak in film. Of course, there are plenty of zombie films that add an almost fantastic element to disease, but there are also a number of reality-based movies like Contagion and Outbreak. We look at a variety of movies to see how this type of outbreak has been depicted in Hollywood. The Sonic movie had one of the most interesting marketing rollouts in recent memory with a much-hated trailer forcing the studio to make last-minute, drastic changes to the way the world's most famous hedgehog looked. (Human teeth, anyone?) Somehow those changes worked with many embracing not only the new trailers but the movie itself. The famed blue hedgehog delights with his spastic and humorous personality in his big screen debut, but the real treat is seeing Jim Carrey bring back his unique, chaotic style of comedy that made him a household name in the 90s (thanks to comedy classics like "Ace Ventura" and "Dumb and Dumber"). In this episode, we're joined by special guest Aaron Carson (Neal's brother and arch-nemesis) to talk about how "Sonic the Hedgehog" ranks amongst other video game "adaptations" (you happy, Aaron?). It's time to return to this controversial and rebellious topic - the movies people hate but we love. We have a special guest to speak on it; Sobe's in the house! From cinematic classics like "John Carter" to real cinema like "Howard the Duck," here's part 2 to the episode that had you screaming at us in your car. Spoiler alert: this is a pre-recorded episode and we can't hear you. Make sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - @Get2theMovies - to stay updated on all new episodes!

With recent news that "Lethal Weapon 5" is close to a green light, how could we not talk about it? We haven’t seen the OG Riggs and Murtaugh (Mel Gibson and Danny Glover respectively) on screen since "Lethal Weapon 4" in 1998, so this has got us hyped...kind of. The last installment felt like a proper send-off and bookend to the perfect buddy cop movie franchise and so it doesn’t seem like we really need a new one. That doesn’t mean the next one won’t be great. With series director, Richard Donner, set to direct, it definitely has potential. Now, if they bring Joe Pesci back, we’re definitely all in. Bad Boys for Life reteams Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett respectively, for the first time in 16 years. Some were worried that they wouldn’t be able to find the same chemistry that made Bad Boys and Bad Boys II so great. After seeing the movie, we can tell you: there’s absolutely nothing to worry about - these guys don’t miss a step. In this episode, we review the action film and talk about what worked and what didn’t. As always, make sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram - @Get2theMovies - to stay updated on all new episodes.
