🎧 Welcome to "Crack, Sip, and Celebrate: Step into the World of Scandinavia’s Beloved Crayfish Feast!" 🎧
As the sun lingers in the Scandinavian sky, casting its golden hues over the Nordic landscape, a vibrant tradition bursts to life—as savory and rich as the summer itself. Picture this: tables adorned with whimsical crayfish-themed decorations, dill-infused brine wafting through the air, and the joyful clink of glasses filled with chilled Akavit. This is the crayfish party, or “Kräftskiva” in Swedish and “Rapujuhlat” in Finnish, a beloved cultural phenomenon that transforms the season into a jubilant feast.
From late July to August, these gatherings become a communal embrace of summer's bounties. The star of the celebration, the crayfish, is meticulously prepared and served with reverence. Diners don bibs and wield knives with precision, cracking shells and savoring the delicate meat amidst traditional songs and heartfelt toasts.
But it’s more than just a meal; it’s a festival of flavors and fellowship. Imagine starting with crayfish atop toast, followed by tart buckthorn sorbet, and culminating in a decadent pepper steak or hot-smoked salmon. The night ends with a sweet symphony of seasonal berries and vanilla ice cream.
Join us as we delve into this enchanting tradition, where every bite is a celebration, every sip a toast to summer, and every moment a cherished memory. 🌞🦞🎉. #foodie #crayfishparty #crayfishpartytradition

"Picture this - it's freezing outside, snowflakes are falling, the lake nearby is almost frozen, and yet, you see people, clad in swimsuits, ready to jump in. In Finland, this isn't an eccentric activity of a few daredevils, but a well-adopted hobby, known locally as avannon uinti (swimming in ice hole). An estimated 750,000 Finns are passionate about winter swimming, cherishing the icy plunge as an invigorating routine. But what makes dipping in icy water so popular? Let’s dive deeper."

For Travellers visiting Helsinki they tend to visit the popular Sibelius Monument. A short walk from the monument is Kafe Regatta located. The building was originally owned by the cafe family Paulig. It was built in 1887 as a shed for fish nets next to family’ villa. Cafe Regatta was established 2002 and the rest is history.

WINTER SOLSTICE – THE LONGEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR
On the 21st of December, the Northern Hemisphere sank into its deepest point of darkness. Have no fear, it is only the longest night and the shortest day of the year. Us living in the north was basking in roughly hours of daylight. In the morning hours at 5:50 AM, the astronomical winter will begin. The event brings a plethora of customs, festivities and superstitions with it and evidence of the winter solstice’s observance can be seen in sites around the world, I am describing a bit about our family tradition of eating red bean soup

I listened to Freddie Mercurys Song and in this episode, some thoughts how that made me feel.
Time Waits For No One
Freddie MercuryTime waits for nobody
Time waits for nobody
We all must plan our hopes together
And we'll have no more future at all
Time waits for nobody
We might as well be deaf and dumb and blind
I know that sounds unkind
But it seems to me
We've not listened to
Or spoken about it at all
The fact that time was running out for us all
Time waits for nobody
Time waits for no one
We've got to build this world together
Or we'll have no more future at all
Because time
It waits for nobody
