Just in time for Christmas, a special State of the Program covering UVA football on the Hoos On Podcast.
Host Preston Willett from The Sabre is joined by Brad Franklin from Cavs Corner and former All-ACC safety with the Cavaliers Tony Covington to take stock of where Virginia football is following a 5-7 season in year three under Tony Elliott.
The guys start by taking a temperature check of the program following a disappointing end to the season in Blacksburg, but a promising few weeks in the transfer portal. Then they cover Virginia's level of buy-in to football with recent NIL donations, academic challenges and recruiting. Also taking stock of where the roster is with a few exciting additions and some key departures.
Finally Preston, Brad and Cov hand out grades for the offense, defense, special teams and Tony Elliott for the year and then talk about expectations for the program moving into next season.

Preston from The Sabre welcomes back Jacquie Franciulli from 247 Sports to recap Virginia's close loss to Memphis and where UVA football stands in the transfer portal nearly two weeks in.

The transfer portal officially opened on Monday and so it begins...
Greg Madia from The Daily Progress joins Preston from The Sabre to break down where UVA stands in the transfer portal with incomings and outgoings. Greg breaks down a few Virginia targets in the portal and what positions the Cavaliers need. Plus, the elephant in the room, the guys talk about the multi-million dollar gift from an anonymous donor for the football program and NIL.
Later fresh off his trip to Dallas, Greg gives his BIG Take on Virginia after an ACC opening loss to SMU. Preston and Greg also hit on topics like the "new" or the same UVA offense, the inexperience on the roster and Dai Dai Ames being injured, plus rate their worry levels.

UVA locked up 19 signees on National Signing Day, so the Preston does a deep dive into football recruiting.
First, Jacquie Franciulli from 247 Sports joined to break down the UVA recruiting class, Tony Elliott not anticipating any coaching staff changes and the plan at quarterback after Anthony Colandrea entered the transfer portal.

Another season ends in familiar fashion for UVA with a loss to Virginia Tech, Preston from The Sabre is joined by David Teel from the Virginian-Pilot and Daily Press to look back on the game in Blacksburg and where Virginia goes from here under Tony Elliott.
Preston and David start off talking through Virginia's continued struggles against their in-state rivals and the differences between the two programs. Then David explains his feelings on the UVA quarterback situation after turning to Tony Muskett and seeing Anthony Colandrea hit the transfer portal before diving into possible coaching staff changes for the Cavaliers. Preston from The Sabre is joined by Andy Bitter from Tech Sideline to preview this year's matchup between Virginia and Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Preston and Andy discuss the factors surrounding this year's edition on the in-state rivalry and what a win or loss means for each program on the regular season's last day. Then some key injury updates, including the UVA running backs and the Hokies quarterbacks. Andy provides his assessment of where Virginia Tech's season went wrong to end up at 5-6 and a few surprise players for both teams.
Finally it's prediction time as Andy and Preston give one key matchup, players to watch and predict who extends their season and who spins off into an early offseason.

After a poor showing in The Bahamas and another problematic result at Scott Stadium, Preston from The Sabre hosts UVA football color analyst Ahmad Hawkins and Streaking the Lawn's Zach Carey to go over the issues plaguing both programs.
First, The Ball Hawk joins to give his perspective from Virginia's 33-7 loss to SMU, including a deep dive on the quarterback situation between Anthony Colandrea and Tony Muskett as well as Tony Elliott's reasoning. Then they give the UVA defense their flowers after another solid outing before shifting their focus to the Commonwealth Clash. Ahmad remembers the last time Virginia won at Virginia Tech in 1998 and the guys have fun discussing the challenges presented by Lane Stadium.
