Seriously, "Long Time No Sex" is the best kdrama right now; it's just great television.
Also: "A Killer Paradox" has a complicated antihero, and "Doctor Slump" is fun but predictable.

This week Melissa and Sara talk about the toxicity of hustle culture as well as feeling burned out. They discuss which dramas, like “Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bokjoo” and “Welcome to Waikiki” and movies like “On Your Wedding Day” and “Runway Cop” make them smile. The movie talk turned slightly chaotic as they remember the 90s movie “Clueless” and investigate whether or not Cher and Josh had an inappropriate relationship. Once they solved that mystery, they remade the cult classic with the cast of “All of Us Are Dead.” New Netflix release "Boo, Bitch" got them thinking about cult classic high school films. They send a quick shoutout to KDR's international listeners, and Melissa recounts a recent horrible sandwich experience.--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kdramareports/support

And we’re back! Kdrama Reports returns for a fresh new season. In this episode, Sara and Melissa catch up on their SXSW 2022 panel, taking time to recharge, and of course, their kdrama watch lists!
They discuss Kim Woo Bin’s comeback in “Our Blues” and “Money Heist: Korea,” the remake of a Spanish drama. The tropey yet lighthearted “A Business Proposal” had them shipping the second lead couple, and “Pachinko” had some criticism surrounding Lee Min Ho’s acting.
Speaking of Lee Min Ho circa “Boys Over Flowers,” who would you cast in a “Boys over Flowers” remake today?
Melissa starts watching the Kang Ha Neul-starring drama “Insider,” and “Woori the Virgin,” and Sara is in a melodrama mood for “Eve” starring Seo Yeji. Who else is ready for a bit of rom-com and fantasy in the latest Hong sisters drama, “Alchemy of Souls” ?

In this episode, Kdrama Reports discusses the depiction of race in Kdramas. How are non-Korean characters portrayed? Sara and Melissa discuss dramas like Itaewon Class, Moorim School, and Backstreet Rookie. How are Black characters depicted vs. White characters?
The co-hosts discuss South Korea’s own controversial use of blackface and brownface, and the oddity of nightclubs that restrict foreigners from entry.
It’s hard to forget Hollywood’s shameful past of yellowface and cultural appropriation in films like Breakfast at Tiffany’s and West Side Story, and the whitewashing of Asian stories in more recent years.
And, a problematic video on YouTube - the co-hosts discuss why no one should be that surprised to discover English-speaking Korean talent.
