Welcome to the fifth episode in our series which explores reproductive health, in all its many forms. This week, we dived into transgender reproductive health with the wonderful Kate Nambiar.
Kate transitioned as a medical student and entered the profession as a sexual health doctor; as a trans person working in the NHS, Kate has a unique insight into reproductive health matched with unparalleled passion. Kate has also formed her own sexual health clinic, Clinic T, which puts transgender sexual health at the forefront.
We hear about studies which show transgender people are less likely to attend sexual health clinics to receive its services, creating a huge ripple effect from increased undiagnosed HIV conditions to less access to fertility or maternity care. We examine why sexual health clinics can be inaccessible to trans people, from being misgendered at the initial stage of booking an appointment to binary male / female waiting rooms. We even touch on trans sex workers interacting with these services and the shocking stories of sterilisation of trans people abroad.
Keep the conversation going with us over Twitter @KickKyriarchy, and make sure to hit follow on our new Instagram @KickingTheKyriarchy for all your favourite intersectional feminist content.
Don’t forget, you can always e-mail us at [email protected].
We can’t wait to hear what you think, and we’ll see you next time for a conversation with Hayden Cross, the first trans man in the UK to give birth.

*At the time of recording, it wasn't clear as to the situation with gamete storage on the NHS. There is now re-issued guidance, and you can find more information here.

This is the fourth installment in our series of episodes exploring reproductive health, and for this one we’re exploring decolonising contraception.
We are joined by Dr Annabel Sowemimo who talks us through what this term means, the often-undiscussed history of contraception and how we can be more of an ally in the campaign to decolonise contraception for good.

This is the third installment in our series of episodes exploring reproductive health, and for this one we’re exploring the impact of the government on our sexual and reproductive health.
We often hear about ‘budget cuts’, ‘austerity’ and ‘cut-backs’, but when you remove the jargon, what does it actually mean? How are our services actually affected? WHO is it affecting? At what rate?
More and more sexual health clinics are having to close by the day, and the ones that are still around are having to reduce their operating hours, and unfortunatley, it will be the most vulnerable people in society who feel that pinch - young LGBTQ+ people, people of colour, people living with HIV and AIDs, victims of abuse and rape.
To help us understand what’s going on and what we can do about it, we sit down with Dr Verity Sullivan, a phenomenal sexual health doctor who’s working on the front line treating patients and educating people on why we cannot afford to lose these services.

TRIGGER WARNING: In this episode, there will be descriptions of abortions, medical and self-induced. If any of that is distressing, please feel free to stop listening, you can always come back to it at a later time.
For this series of episodes we’re exploring reproductive health, and given the conversation that’s going on worldwide right now about abortions, it seems only right we start with that.
To help us understand the abortion in the UK today, we’ve got Gabriella on the podcast.

Your favourite friendly intersectional feminist podcast is back for a Third Season, and what a topic to kick it off with. Just a heads up, we've changed our episode structure slightly; to get more in-depth on our guests' stories, we'll be covering a topic across three episodes with one guest in each.
For this series of episodes we’re exploring reproductive health, and given the conversation that’s going on worldwide right now about abortions, it seems only right we start with that.
To help us understand the history in the UK and where we’re at today with it, we’ve got activist Diane Munday on, a woman who was instrumental to legalising abortion in 1967 with the Abortion Act.
If you want to help out in any way, please consider nowforni.uk where you can send an email to your MP urging them to act for abortion access in Northern Ireland, or if you’re in the position to donate, the Yellowhammer fund provides funding for anyone seeking care at one of Alabama’s three abortion clinics, as well as helping with lodgings and travel.

*** THIS IS THE LAST EPISODE OF SEASON TWO ***
This month, it's all about masculinity. What does it mean to be butch? How do men talk about emotions and mental health in a world that says "man up"? How are black men affected by stereotypes of masculinity?
"I refuse to accept that the way I look is about being masculine. It’s not. There are lots of different types of women in the world and I want to fight for that." Tabs
"We need to look deep within ourselves and identify the issues we’re facing and try and find ways out of it. It’s not women’s responsibility to do that, they’re trying navigate their own lives and their own personhoods." Derek
"There is this big disconnect between what it means to be a man and what it means to be an emotional man. And I just don't understand why because it's the same thing. Emotions don't discriminate." Rich
Listen to Tabs from Butch Please, Derek from the Mostly Lit podcast and Rich, a mental health campaigner.
It's worth noting that we recorded Tabs on the day of London Pride, only realising what had happened on the march long after we had left the studio. We just want to be crystal clear when we say that trans women are women and are, and have always been, welcome in women spaces. If your feminism doesn't include trans women, it's not feminism. Thank you. -Review us and subscribe to the podcast so you're the first to know when Season Three hits your podcast device.

TW: Death, chat around HIV symptons
Living with HIV today is vastly different to those living with it 30 years ago. Science and medicine have dramatically improved prognosis of those diagnosed. So much so that it doesn't have any impact on your daily life whatsoever. Having said that, very little research includes the affect on women (quelle surprise), and interestingly women later on in life. On top of that, we explore cultural nuances of HIV and why this fundamental to treatment.

2018 marks 100 YEARS since SOME women were given the right to vote in the UK... so it seemed only right that we did an episode on feminism. However with an edge.
We explore the untold stories of women, both past and present that are fighting for a fairer world here in the UK, but also further a field.

Is elderly care a feminist issue?
Should elderly care for heteronormative people be different to their LGBTQ+ counterparts?
What about the representation of older people on screen? What roles do they play? Do their characters have any depth? Are they even there in the first place?
As ever, join us as we chat to Nuala, Hanne Marlene and Chryssy who help us explore some of these issues.

Why does the UK have one of the biggest class divides?
Why do we vilify and chase the unemployed single mums of the UK to pay their taxes, and not the gargantuan corporations we get our coffee from every day?
How is it that the poorest in the country can be burned alive Grenfell, side by side the wealthiest and the elite?
What's it like to live in a tower block after an event like Grenfell?
And what is the caste system? Does it exist here in the UK?
Meet Rich, Hajera and Meena, who help us answer some of these.

WE'RE BACK.
After taking a bit of a break over summer, we're back with even more episodes and amazing guests telling you their story.
To ease back into the swing of things, we thought we'd start with a really light and easily digestible topic...race.
To some it's surprising that this is still a conversation that needs to be had, and for others, it's a reality that they don't have a choice but to engage in.
What does it mean to be politically black? How do you dismantle the model minority trope in East Asian communities? Maybe you're still confused as to why 'All white people are racist' is true, and if so, you should definitely hit play.
Special thanks to Rachel Jones for helping with this episode
