Welcome to the Limbhanger podcast! Turkey season is over and we don't want to talk about it. But this is a podcast, so we have to talk about it. The redeeming news is that Dave Owens of the Pinhoti Project is joining us this week. It's hard to give Dave an introduction. Do you talk about his unmatched skillset of being a hunter? Or should you talk about his championship calling? He's really just one of the most genuine, down to earth people in the hunting industry, and it's an honor to have him joining us.
We're getting in the weeds this week as Dave gives us some insight into the things he's taken note of in his career as a travelling turkey hunter. Each spring, Dave travels across the country hunting turkeys. So who better to talk to about turkey populations, regulations that might need adjusted, or new regulations that might actually be working well? It seems to be commonplace for hunters to talk about a rise in pressure. Covid seemingly opened the flood gates and some people believe the spring turkey woods will never be the same due to increased pressure. What does Dave think about this? Well, rest assured you're going to hear this and a lot more this week. Thanks for listening!

Jared Shaffer is joining the Limbhanger crew this week! If you know anything about Jared it should be that he's an absolute bonafied killer. It doesn't matter what animal he's chasing, he's going to have success. This turkey season was no different as he punched tags in California, West Virginia, Virginia, & Pennsylvania. For the traveling turkey hunter, developing your map scouting skillset is incredibly important.
Jared shares with us some of his process for map scouting in states he's unfamiliar with, and how he narrows down areas based almost solely on topography.

We've got our friend Jordan Pope this week on the Limbhanger Turkey Hunting Podcast. If you follow Jordan or know him at all, you'd know that when he gets on a roll, it's hard to stop the train. By that we mean once he figures out what the gobblers are doing in that portion of the season, he goes into full kill mode and it doesn't stop until the turkeys start doing something different.
Speaking of the turkeys doing something different, our main topic today is hunting them once green-up occurs. This year it seemed like despite the cool weather, the woods bloomed super fast. Jordan shares with us some of his strategy once the seasons start to change.

This week on Limbhanger, we're talking about when and where might be your best bet when it comes to booking an outfitted turkey hunt. This is important especially when it comes to chasing the 49 state Super Slam. While the majority of our conversations are focused on public land hunting, there are absolutely some scenarios and states where you may want to consider an outfitter, and some that it would be necessary.
Adam gets the opportunity to do some of these hunts through his job and recently came back from a trip to South Texas hunting Rio gobblers. Joey booked an outfitted hunt with Jay Scott for his Goulds hunt in Mexico. As the guys talk through their experiences, they break down some of the good and bad when it comes to this style of hunting.

Welcome to the Limbhanger Turkey Hunting Podcast! This week, we're catching up on turkey season so far. Sharing the stories from Parker & Adam's trip to Florida. Funny enough, our ethics episode from last week had to be put to practice on the opener. You'll definitely want to hear about that!
Aside from that we talk about hunting mentorship, our opinions on some state's regs (based solely on our opinion and not even remotely factual even a little bit), and we also lose our Kentucky listeners this week. It's great. Really! Gobble Gobble.

This week we're talking with 3 hardcore public land turkey hunters: Zach Ferenbaugh from The Hunting Public, Adrian Wilson from Tethrd, & Brodie Swisher from Hunting Roots. There's nothing worse than getting set up on a gobbling turkey on public land, only to have the hunt ruined by some guy wailing on a box call. So how do you handle that situation? This week each guest shares with us their best and worst encounters with other hunters on public land. The hope is that we can all learn from these situations, and apply these basic hunting ethics ourselves.

Welcome back to the Limbhanger Turkey Hunting Podcast. This week we're doing a little bit of turkey gear talk, discussing the pros and cons of being a minimalist in your turkey hunting approach, and specifically talking about some of the good and bad gear we saw at NWTF 2023 over the weekend.

Welcome to episode 1 of the Limbhanger Turkey Hunting Podcast. We're glad you're here! Spring is coming soon and there's not much worse than going into opening day without a gameplan or at the very least having knowledge of a gobbler in the area you hunt. We're joined by Jonathan Boheme (aka Catman) to talk about how he prepares for turkey season through pre-season scouting.
Catman has earned the right to talk on the subject, as he consistently finds success on public land turkeys within the first few days of the season in his home state of Tennessee. Pre-season turkey scouting has allowed him to keep tabs on turkeys in their winter flocks, and follow them as they start to separate closer to spring, leading to a lot more success early in the season.
