"How do you track the growth of my child?""What growth percentile should my child be in at the age of 5?" "What factors influence how my my child will grow?""When should my child be starting puberty?"
I get questions like these all day everyday from the concerned parents of the children that I see in clinic, so for this episode, I figured it would be a good time to sit down and go over the answers to some of the most common questions that I receive.
Growth is a really interesting but nuanced topic, because there are so many different factors that have an impact on your child's growth. Plus, there are different things to be considering at different ages, so it can feel like there's a lot to track. But after listening to this episode, I hope you'll have a better idea of how myself and other pediatricians think about tracking and aiding your child's growth.

In this episode I sat down with Dr. Cheruba Prabakar, AKA, the Fibroid Doc, to talk about menstrual pain in teens. Dr. Prabakar is a board certified OBGYN and fellowship trained minimally invasive surgeon. She is passionate about taking care of women suffering from heavy bleeding, pain, and infertility due to fibroids, and she offers care and guidance through her practice as The Fibroid Doc.
Today, we discuss menstrual pain, specifically in teens. Our conversation covers what a normal period looks like, the types of pain that someone might experience, and how to treat the pain. It was a pleasure to learn from Dr. Prabakar and I'm sure that there's something in this conversation for every teen and parent out there.
For more information about Dr. Prabakar's work, check out her website, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.

In this episode, I sat down with Dr. Rebecca Berens to talk about healthy eating in teens. Dr. Berens is a family physician, lactation specialist, and owner of Vida Family Medicine in Houston, Texas. She serves patients from newborns to the elderly, focusing on both the physical and mental well-being of each family member with a trauma-informed and weight-inclusive approach to care.
Both Dr. Berens and I see patients who are being treated for pre-diabetes, diabetes, PCOS, and other diagnoses that are heavily influenced by diet, so in this episode we address the role that healthy eating plays in the lives of teens. We discuss some of the biggest challenges that teens face when it comes to healthy eating, such as eating disorders and offer some ways in which parents can help their children build the foundation for a healthy life.
If you'd like to see what Dr. Berens is up to or schedule an appointment with her, you can reach her via the Vida Family Medicine website or by phone at 713-766-4496, or you can check out her Instagram and TikTok.

As a pediatric endocrinologist, I get a lot of questions about painful periods from my patients. So for this episode, I sat down with Dr. Jessica Ritch, a minimally invasive gynecologist, to talk about this topic and answer some of the more common questions that I get.
We debunk some of the myths surrounding period pain, talk about what women should and shouldn't expect, and offer some options and advice when it comes to treating the pain. Period pain should never stop someone from being able to live a normal life, and I hope that what we talk about in this episode can help to provide some clarity and ideas to those who are experiencing this.
Dr. Ritch is one of only a few gynecologists in South Florida who have completed fellowship training in minimally invasive gynecology and she works to help treat patients and get them back to their lives faster through robotic surgery, advanced laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and vaginal procedures, as well as, non-surgical treatment options. She specializes in the management of benign gynecologic conditions such as fibroids, polyps, abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis, pelvic pain, ovarian masses, and cervical dysplasia.
If you're interested in working with Dr. Ritch or would like to learn more about her work, you can find her at floridaurogyn.com or check her out on LinkedIn.

In this episode, I sat down with Dr. Andrea Wadley to talk about when it's a good time to start giving solid foods to kids. Dr. Wadley is board certified in pediatrics, internationally board certified in lactation consulting, and is recognized as a Top Doctor by her peers. She opened OneTwentySeven Pediatrics in July 2018 in order to give families in the Colleyville and Fort Worth areas a better option for personalized general pediatric and lactation care.
Here, we discuss when and how to transition from breast/bottle feeding to solid foods, how to introduce new foods into your child's diet, appropriate portions based on age, and so much more. Healthy eating habits are established early on, and we wanted to give some tools to parents going through the transition to solid foods, so be sure to give this episode a listen.
For more information about Dr. Wadley's work and practice, check out her website at 127pediatrics.com or give her a call at (817) 476-0675.

In this episode, I sat down with Dr. Funke Afolabi-Brown to talk about why sleep is so important for kids. Dr. Brown is a double board certified pediatric pulmonary medicine and pediatric sleep disorder doctor, who specializes in helping her patients breathe better and sleep better.
In our conversation, we took time to address the sleep needs of kids at different ages, the reasons why they need this sleep, some of the barriers kids face when it comes to getting the sleep they need, and how parents can facilitate and encourage good sleep habits.
One of the best things we can do to help our kids as they develop is to get them the sleep they need, so be sure to listen to this episode to the end.
If you would like to get in touch with Dr. Brown to learn more and find more restful sleep, you can reach her via her website (Restful Sleep MD), Instagram, or Facebook.

In this episode of the podcast, I sat down with Dr. Nikita Shah, an evidence-based obesity medicine physician and certified weight loss coach - to talk about obesity medications. We go over the different options that are out there, how they work, their side-effects, when they should be used, and the expectations that patients should have when taking these medications.
I really enjoyed this conversation, and I think it's a really important one for patients or anyone thinking about getting treatment to hear, because it's crucial that we all discuss and understand the options that are available.

In this episode, I sat down with Dr. Carolina Sueldo to talk about PCOS and fertility in young adults. Dr. Suedlo is a double board certified fertility specialist who is currently practicing in her hometown of Fresno, California. She has been a speaker at multiple national meetings, she's an international speaker throughout Latin America, and she's the go-to local media women's health expert in the Central Valley.
This topic is near and dear to my heart because I've been treating girls with PCOS for over 1t years, and I get a lot of questions from moms and patients about what PCOS means for their fertility. Dr. Sueldo is equally passionate and we connected because of our similar interests.
I hope you all enjoy this episode, and if you'd like to learn more about Dr. Sueldo and her work, be sure to check her out via her website, Instagram, and LinkedIn
