In the final episode of Season 5, Jodie and Celia record the show in front of a very special live audience: international Never Nationers Gemma and Didi! It is only appropriate for the ladies to read Never Nationers fan mail, but does this show ever stay appropriate for long? Celia makes sure it does not by stripping down to the promised pasties from episode 20. And the inappropriate continues with the “nevers” sent from all of you! From pig nipples to period hats, this season ends with a cloaca of crazy!

Jodie and Celia are joined by Tammin Sursok and Roxy Manning of the “Women On Top” podcast this week! The ladies talk about child disappearing acts, intrusive parenting thoughts, and eating their young. Literally. Then, the show boldly goes where it’s never gone before. Sort of like Star Trek, but not at all.

Jodie and Celia get some therapy on this week’s episode… Recess Therapy, that is!
Recess Therapy is the viral Tiktok/Instagram account where Julian Shapiro-Barnum takes to the streets of NYC and interviews New Yorkers aged 2 to 9 on a variety of wild topics. These mini citizens do an excellent job of reminding the ladies about the importance of staying weird at any age. Not that either of them have completely forgotten. But all parents know the power of being validated by a child given how soul crushingly honest they are. Then, because good things happen in New York, Celia shares a universey-vibrationy-meeting-the-right-person-at-the-right-timey kinda story.

This week, Jodie and Celia do their best to process SCOTUS overturning Roe vs Wade in part by breaking down which women will be most affected. They then discuss Jodie’s recent activism landing her in the news, the importance of using privilege as a platform, the diaper and formula shortage currently happening in the US, and various ways to be of service. Plus, Celia discloses how her love of WHAM! factored into the ultimate future feminist fashion faux pas.

This week Jodie and Celia provide salvation for parents and kids who are hardcore struggling with Common Core math: the phenomenal Kyne! Kyne is the magical Canadian Drag Race contestant who began her drag career while studying mathematics. During the pandemic, she realized that her mathematical prowess multiplied by her fabulousness could be used for good by helping parents and students tacking “new” aka nonsensical math. The result is her wildly popular TikTok @kyneonline that makes math fun, relevant, and incredibly creative. All this, plus the Never Thought Theorum: (chonuts+cockroaches)*mummified cats = insanity

Happy Pride Month! This week the ladies are joined by Lance Bass and Michael Turchin! This past October the couple welcomed twins making them new dads smack in the middle of the pandemic! Together, the four parents talk about IVF, surrogacy, birthdays, and Bar Mitzvahs. Plus, the men share a “Never Thought I’d Say This” that we never thought we’d hear.

Jodie and Celia find a kindered spirit in Emily Haswell courtesy of TikTok. Emily has been sharing her own version of all the things she never thought she would say prior to having a baby. Not to be out done, the ladies take these observations and level up with stories of mother-in-laws, inappropriate touching, and silence of the lambs references.

Jodie and Celia get more serious than usual this week. They discuss parenting through heartbreak, loss, and love. Both ladies get way out of their comfort zone only to, ultimately, come crashing back to the place they feel most comfortable… in the land of badass vegetables where idiocy is always in season.

This week Jodie and Celia are joined by Nicole Alvarez. Nicole is a single mom who has been a staple in the alternative rock community and in LA radio for almost 2 decades, having grown up on air at the legendary KROQ! The ladies talk about mom guilt, birthday parties and, of course, LOL dolls. Plus Celia demonstrates some free counseling and Jodie shares that learning to stop hitting the tennis ball when you’re not interested in playing is the ultimate game changer.

Jodie and Celia, having just watched the Netflix series Old Enough, chat about what kids are truly capable of doing. They discuss how kids are given autonomy in different cultures, how watching your child navigate the world is both wonderful and torturous, and how letting go of control is a never ending parenting battle. All this plus Jodie creates a new label for today’s teen fashion and Celia is saved by the bundt cake at the Stamos house.

This week the ladies talk about the silent epidemic of teen depression. This is an episode that no parent should miss as the rate of depression in teens is now at an all time high. There are many reasons and many consequences for our kids so the more information parents have, the better. It’s a serious topic for sure, but have no fear, somehow boobies still find their way into the conversation.

This week, Jodie and Celia talk about the role of a stay-at-home parent. What duties that role should and should NOT include, and how one mom’s story brought out a whole lot of their inner pettiness. Cause these two… they got alllll the time in the world to be petty.

This week the ladies go over some phrases that can be used to improve relationships with kids. Celia is a bit over-emotional and under-clothed, while Jodie gets into it about being called out. Plus, “Street Jodie” makes an appearance as does her stomach.

Jodie tells a harrowing tale of getting lost without her phone, Celia shares a new reason to wear a mask (at least around her), and they both talk about ways to love your kids even when you hate some stuff about them. Plus, Celia shares a little love about Dustin, and someone in Jodie’s life is marrying into a “loud” family. No, it’s not Celia.

This week, the ladies discuss the movie, Turning Red, how some critics were turned off by the plot, and why the two of them are pretty ticked off over their “critiques”. Celia, also, tells Jodie the latest term Lulu has been misusing which, ultimately, led to a parenting fail wrapped up in a Never Thought I’d Say This moment.

This week, the ladies are joined by award-winning freelance journalist and author, Jason Sheehan. Jason is a book and video game critic for NPR, and has published three books for adults, but his new book, “Children of the Flying City,” is his first for young adults. Jason talks about his career path, the journey of fatherhood, and how unimpressed his kids are by any of his accomplishments. What parent can’t relate to that? Also, Celia explains a predicament that left her neighbors inquiring about a certain pair of leggings depicting cats eating cheeseburgers.

This week, Jodie and Celia get a massive dose of reality when they dissect what it’s like to raise mini versions of themselves. They discuss all of the best and worst qualities they’ve passed onto their kids, how proud (and terrified) they are of their girls’ ever growing anonymity, and how unbelievably hard it can be to recognize that their struggles are their own. Then, the ladies speak of the magic that IS Xanadu, and share some April Foolery. A million lights are dancing in this week’s episode of Never Thought I’d Say This!

Jodie and Celia never thought that having kids would, also, mean having bouts of rage, or the fair amount of shame and self-judgment that follows that rage. They, also, never thought they would find out they are FAR from alone in those feelings. On this week’s episode, the ladies open up about “mom rage,” share some stories of perinatal mood disorders, and how unnatural “natural” mothering can feel! And, of course, there’s a pretty fantastic never-before shared parenting fail that will hopefully make anyone who has ever succumbed to the rage feel just a little bit less Joan Crawford-y

We are all about the dramatic this week. A dramatic love of breadsticks, a dramatic reading of said love of breadsticks, a dramatic recount of, well, the drama of being dramatic in this Greek drama known as parenting. Jodie and Celia are talking about the viral TikTok from pregnant mama, Cassie Carter, who found herself a tad emotional over a carb craving. Plus, Jodie is freezing her tush off and, Celia shows off a new hairdo and creates a new game!
