One might think that the NFL Draft would dominate the conversation, with well over 320 prospects auditioning for jobs at the Combine in Indianapolis.
Think again. The league's quarterback puzzle was being discussed in all corners of the city, specifically involving the New York Giants
and Los Angeles Rams star Matthew Stafford.
Can the Rams and Stafford reach a revised agreement, or will he be traded? Combine attendees most often mentioned the Giants and Raiders as suitors.
When he spoke to the media on Tuesday, Giants general manager Joe Schoen deferred any questions regarding Stafford to the Rams. But Schoen also admitted, "We're going to look for the best player available to help us win games in 2025."
Stafford could certainly be a quarterback who helps the Giants win some games if he is made available via trade and if the Giants are able to acquire him.
Once Stafford's puzzle is solved, the rest of the league's quarterback carousel of veterans and prospects can begin to spin. It will certainly be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Paul Dottino discussed this chatter during a live broadcast from Indianapolis, the combine site. He also added observations about the Giants' other potential draft targets and answered fans' comments in this very special extended episode of the Big Blue Breakdown podcast.

The NFL's tagging window has opened, and the proposed salary cap appears to be higher than anticipated. How do these factors affect the New York Giants' plans as they begin re-tooling their roster over the next two months?
General manager Joe Schoen understands how important it is for the franchise to show significant improvement this season, and that's why he's likely to explore every possible avenue to achieve his goal.
He's never been shy about entering the trade market, so that's undoubtedly one avenue he may entertain, specifically if he's targeting a quarterback with a significant resume. Schoen also has an estimated $45-50 million in cap space at his disposal to dabble in free-agent waters. And he's got eight draft picks, highlighted by the third overall pick in this year's NFL Draft.
The first order of business is to figure out how much he'd have to pay to retain his pending free agents. The most sought-after players are likely to be receiver Darius Slayton and safety Jason Pinnock, both starters. Neither are of a level to command a free agency tag, but it will cost some money to retain them.

The New York Giants' recent woes have made it somewhat difficult for many to remember just how fantastic the franchise did to win four Super Bowl rings in five trips, starting with the 1986 edition that hammered the Denver Broncos (XXI) to grab its first Vince Lombardi Trophy.
So this was as good a time to jar the memory banks of those five title games and identify the players at each position who performed the best under the spotlight. And some of those decisions were quite a challenge!
Do you take Phil Simms, who had the most efficient Super Bowl game in history, or two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning? To nobody's surprise, this was the most difficult choice because the three-member panel had to decide on just one quarterback.
Big Blue Breakdown host Paul Dottino, a veteran of 42 years on the New York Giants beat, corralled multi-year Pro Football Hall of Fame media finalist Vinny DiTrani (who covered the Giants for 34 years) and Patricia Traina, author of The Big 50: The Men and Moments That Made the New York Giants (and on the beat for 30+ years), to join him in creating this all-time Giants Super Bowl lineup.

The New York Giants have made it clear that they must address their quarterback situation, but general manager Joe Schoen isn't committing to a specific plan for doing so.
What should the team do if the two high-profile quarterbacks are off the board by the third pick? How does the depth of the NFL Draft fit the franchise's other needs on the roster and could this come into play as they prioritize their picks?
The team has a combined seven coaches working this week's Shrine and Senior Bowls, although this week's special guest, Emory Hunt of CBS SportsHQ and the Football Gameplan, said their scouts have been very noticeable at all of the collegiate all-star events leading into these two headline games.
Hunt and Big Blue Breakdown host Paul Dottino discuss how they think the first two picks will come off the board and who they would take with the third overall selection.
They also delve into how the Giants may solve part of their quarterback quandary and how the depth of this draft should provide them with upgrades at their most needed positions.

The New York Giants have made it clear they need a quarterback, so it's only logical that they'll have plenty of eyes on Colorado's Shedeur Sanders - a presumed top pick in the NFL Draft - when he arrives at the Shrine Bowl this weekend.
And for the first time in the Shrine Bowl's 100-year history, its organizers partnered with a video outlet to televise the four practice sessions before the game.
Fans will be able to view the sessions via www.LightsOutSportsTV.com, a free streaming television service founded by former All-Pro linebacker Shawne Merriman.
Learn how Merriman's production company plans to cover the practices and what he's told the producers to focus on during the workouts at North Texas University. The sessions run Saturday through Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET.
Join Big Blue Breakdown host Paul Dottino as he chats with Merriman about Shrine Bowl week and then catches up with the fans to discuss the Giants' free agency and draft plans.
