In this special election-season episode, Alex meets Rob Birnie to discuss implications for the Clean Car Discount and Clean Car Standard - a half-hour discussion portraying several scenarios and outcomes. We ask the questions; can fuel pricing achieve the same results? Does a 'clean car fee' unfairly penalise some buyers? And what about emission categories other than transport?
Alex also talks about how to save money on insurance for earlier vehicles, and a technical update on tailgate wiring. And, we discuss some of the latest Supercharger sites.

Jason is a Network Engineer at Orion Networks in Christchurch. His EV journey began with a conversion of a motorbike (everyone else was doing cars!) and he always had the dream to own a Model S. That opportunity came in the form of a Japanese import and Jason is extremely happy with the decision and the support he has had from the Christchurch Tesla Service Centre. We talk also about Orion's preparedness for EVs taking over Christchurch.

In this episode, Alex chats with Ned van Geffen and Steve Greenwood at DriveEV in Taupo. This is not a paid advertisement; it is a chance to 'go backstage' and learn about some of the challenges involved in importing, servicing, and converting EVs. Also an insight into how the parts are ready for us on the shelf for us (when our warranties end), and generally just a light-hearted chat about how DriveEV are involved in the EV community.

In the news this month, Tesla referrals are back! Areas of New Zealand are starting the long road to recovery from some significant weather events with Starlink providing much-needed communication. Investor Day is upon us so we place our bets on not seeing a Model 2. Tesla shares are as volatile as ever. Auckland has a new Service Centre and Martin discovered that Wellington Service Centre is not the showroom he was looking for - but has a few Model Ys to try out nonetheless. And finally, we discuss the increasing availability of chargers across New Zealand.
