  • “If [companies] implement stress management… magical things can happen.”

Welcome back to the Oxygen Advantage® podcast. In the latest episode Patrick is joined by OA Master Instructor Lars Christian Larssen to speak about teaching breathing in the corporate environment and innovation in the ways in which companies deal with the stress and anxieties of their employees.

Lars is from Norway, just an hour outside Oslo and has spent years teaching functional breathing training in the corporate environment. He found his way to breathing when he was dealing with severe work stresses when he worked for a large Norwegian media company. Conflicts at work and the anxiety it caused was eating him up inside, disturbing his sleep and making his life incredibly stressful.

Working under a “great boss”, Lars’ company looked at Google’s famous 20% Innovation time, where engineers are encouraged to take 20% of their week to work on new projects that interest them. They allowed workers to spend 10% of their time on passion projects. Lars wanted to develop strategies for stress management and performance management in the workplace and the freedom at work allowed him to do this.

This is a great podcast for those interested in ways to combat stress in the working environment or innovative ways to look at human resource management in the modern workplace.

  • “The Foundation of Breathing is, it’s Good for Health, for Relaxation and Rebalancing.”

On the latest episode of the Oxygen Advantage® podcast Patrick and Daniel are delighted to welcome OA Master Instructor and Strength & Conditioning coach Leo Daniel Ryan.

Leo is a great example of one of Patrick’s success stories. Prior to learning Buteyko from Patrick, Leo was bedridden with asthma for six months, was on three inhalers, 14 courses of antibiotics and took 425 steroid tablets in that time.

Eighteen months later, medication and symptom free, he went back to sports and would go on to become a trainer and strength and conditioning coach which he continues to this day.

It was on his return to sport and more specifically running for the first time in seven years, that Leo decided to track his progress during a marathon with surprisingly good results when it came to his breathing efficiency.

With Leo Ryan’s own testing as a guide through breathing during athletic output of both aerobic and anaerobic, this is an in-depth podcast on the science of breathing and movement.
