My guest today is a comedian, writer, actor and Keynote Speaker based out of Vancouver British Columbia. She’s appeared at the Ha!ifax Comedy Festival, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and Just For Laughs on countless occasions. And when I say that, I mean it literally. I genuinely couldn’t count. I’m estimating that she’s made between 20-30 TV appearances at those festivals combined. Which is absolutely staggering. One of those was with Wanda Sykes in Montreal a few years ago.

She’s a two time Leo Award winner, a 2 time Canadian comedy award nominee and one of her awards is for being a writer on the Gemini awards. She’s also lended her writing talents to Corner Gas Animated and Mr. D.

She’s a favourite on CBC’s the Debaters, appearing on over 50 episodes of the show. She’s also performed in the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Iceland and Afghanistan where she recorded the CBC show Stand Up in Kandahar.

She was a finalist in the Seattle International Comedy Competition, she’s made numerous appearances on the hit podcast, Stop Podcasting Yourself. You can catch her in the SNOWED IN COMEDY TOUR which is the biggest comedy tour in the country. It’s been running for sixteen years and played in 70 cities this last year.

Not only is he a regular and favourite performer on The Debaters, he’s also a writer and producer on the show. Almost all the jokes on The Debaters gets filtered through Graham and he helps turn every one funnier. My guest today is the general manager of Rumors Restaurant and Comedy Club which is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary this year.

Rumors has been host to some of the top comedians in the industry including, Chris Rock, Marlon Wayans, Brad Garrett, Jon Lovitz, Dave, Chappelle, Tom Segura, Bob Saget, Steve Harvey, Jon Stewart, Nate Bargatze and Norm Macdonald who called Rumors, "the best club in Canada." By the way, that list barely begins to cover it.

They still bring in the biggest headlining comics on the continent including, Jon Dore, Jay Pharaoh, Mark Forward, Nathan Macintosh, Deb Digiovani, DJ Demeeers, man these lists could keep going on forever.

The club is also home to the Winnipeg’s Funniest Person with a Day Job competition. A contest that’s seen the likes of Paul Rabluiskus, Aisha Alfa, John B Duff and more compete and has become a deep seated showcase in the province.

My guest began working at the comedy club in 2007 and quickly became a mainstay of the establishment. So much so that 2 years later, when the co-owner and manager Ross Rumberg passed away, it was an easy choice to ask Tyler to step in.

Since then the club has seen steady and persistent growth and innovation. It’s not every club you go to, that has consistently full houses on Tuesday’s and Wednesdays, let alone the regularly packed weekend shows.

Rumor’s unique approach to booking acts and selling tickets has contributed to it being constantly listed as one of the top comedy clubs in North America alongside The World Famous Hollywood Improv, Gotham and The Comedy Store.

But it’s not just critics and list makers that shout the club’s praises. I’ve joked that this podcast could be called the I love Rumors podcast because my conversations with guests faithfully evolve into singing the club’s praises.

My guest is an avid supporter of stand-up comedy in Canada and many comedians, including myself, owe a bulk of their success to this human being.

One of his appearances was so good he was named Best of The Fest and won a Canadian Comedy Award for it! And one reviewer from the Montreal gazette said, “Remember this name: Tim Nutt. The shaggy-haired and bearded Vancouverite was the standout comic in a very strong line up. Where have they been hiding this dude?”
