Both doctors recount their personal experiences with health challenges that led them to question the conventional allopathic model, which often focuses on symptom management rather than addressing root causes. Their journey led them to explore various diets and health practices, initially adhering to calorie-restrictive models but eventually shifting towards a more holistic understanding of nutrition. The hosts also discuss their approach to improving metabolic health by addressing common misconceptions and providing practical strategies. They emphasize the importance of metabolic flexibility, explaining how consuming the right types of carbohydrates can actually improve sleep and overall health, contrary to popular low-carb diets. Hello everyone, welcome back to Peak Human. This is a different kind of episode. It's going to be three 90 second podcasts. It's my new idea to fill in the gaps between peak human episodes. I do these short episodes with really interesting people I find around the internet with amazing health stories, valuable stuff in 90 seconds, really cool reels. I
put together, put them out on Instagram and also bundle them up and put them out as a little podcast. And so, yeah, in the meantime, go back and listen to the old episodes. Start back at episode one. So many great ones out there.
And you may have heard Nose to Tail, my company is not selling meat anymore. We gave it a good run, but there's no profit on real food. I learned how the world works.
The world is the way it is because there's such a high profit margin on processed foods And if you don't have that huge profit margin, it's very hard to stay in business. So we've been supporting our regenerative ranchers here in texas for years now. We're going to sell the last bit of meat this monday We extended it. So if you're listening to this, it's June 12th, we're extending this to Monday, June 17th. And then we're going to stop.
But of course we still have our amazing beef tallow body care products, hair, food, skin, food, deodorant, all the things. And we also have our biltong with liver too. We have the sticks made of grass fed meat, made of grass fed beef with liver.
Best way to get your organs on the go. So get that at http://nosetail.org get the last of our pasture raised pork by Monday, June 17th and enjoy the short three podcasts!

Andy Schoonover is the founder and CEO of CrowdHealth, a company that aims to revolutionize the healthcare payment system through crowdfunding. Schoonover's journey into healthcare innovation was sparked by a personal experience when his daughter needed a simple medical procedure, resulting in an $8,000 bill that their insurance refused to cover. This frustration with the traditional health insurance system led him to create a more transparent and supportive alternative.
CrowdHealth operates in all 50 states and offers members a way to manage healthcare costs through a monthly subscription model and crowdfunding for medical expenses. The platform emphasizes transparency, affordability, and personalized support, providing services such as bill negotiation, discounted prescriptions, and access to virtual care.
In this episode Andy Schoonover and I talk about the foundation and mission of CrowdHealth, aiming to revolutionize the traditional insurance industry. Schoonover narrates his motivations stemming from personal dissatisfaction with conventional healthcare systems, leading to the creation of an alternative that promotes healthier lifestyles and aligns financial incentives with wise health choices. The discussion broadens to the concept of rationalizing detrimental behaviors by large entities for financial gain, and how such practices negatively impact society's well-being.

Dr. Stephen J. Simpson and Dr. David Raubenheimer are renowned scientists known for their work in the field of nutritional ecology. Their research primarily focuses on understanding how organisms, including humans, regulate their intake of nutrients and how this affects their health and behavior.
Dr. Stephen Simpson is an Academic Director of the Charles Perkins Centre and a Professor in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney. His research has spanned several disciplines, from studying locusts to human obesity, and he has been influential in developing the field of nutritional ecology.
Dr. David Raubenheimer, also affiliated with the University of Sydney, holds the Leonard P. Ullmann Chair in Nutritional Ecology. His research involves the study of nutrition and its effects across a wide range of species, including humans. He has worked extensively on the concept of nutritional geometry, which is a framework for understanding how animals and humans make decisions about what and how much to eat.
Together, Simpson and Raubenheimer developed the "Protein Leverage Hypothesis," which suggests that the protein content of the diet can strongly influence total energy intake and thus has significant implications for understanding obesity. Their collaborative work has been pivotal in highlighting the complex interactions between diet composition, appetite, and health, making significant contributions to both basic biology and implications for human health and nutrition.
