What began as a routine flight carrying a Uruguayan rugby team across the snow-covered Andes Mountains quickly turned into an unimaginable nightmare when the plane smashed into the mountains at over 12,000 feet. On Halloween night of 1992 something happened that divided the small farming town of Kipling, Saskatchewan. A young single mother accused the townâs well respected doctor of sexual assault while under his care. Wanting to save his reputation, the doctor took a blood test to prove his DNA was not a match for the samples found during the performance of a sexual assault exam. It was not a match.

Israel Keyes was an American serial killer active in the United States between roughly 2001 and 2012. Known for his calculated and methodical approach, Keyes committed multiple murders across different states, often targeting victims at random. He buried âkill kitsâ (weapons, cash, and tools) in remote locations years in advance, which allowed him to carry out crimes with little immediate trace back to himself.
Keyes avoided patterns that typically help investigatorsâhe chose victims of varying ages and backgrounds, used different methods, and traveled extensively to separate his crimes geographically from his personal life. He was eventually arrested in 2012 after abducting and killing 18-year-old Samantha Koenig in Alaska. Evidence gathered after his arrest linked him to several other murders, though the full number of his victims remains unknown.
While in custody, Keyes gave limited information to investigators and died by suicide later that year, leaving many questions about the extent of his crimes unresolved.

Kevin Hinesâs story centers on his struggle with bipolar disorder and a life-changing moment in 2000 when, at age 19, he jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge in a suicide attempt. Miraculously, he survived the fall and was rescued.
Afterward, he went through a long recovery process and chose to speak openly about his experience. His story is about moving from deep despair to hope, using his survival as a way to advocate for mental health awareness and encourage others to seek help before itâs too late.

Breck Bednar was a 14-year-old boy from Surrey who loved gaming and computers. In 2013 he began chatting online with Lewis Daynes, an 18-year-old who pretended to be a successful computer programmer and slowly gained Breckâs trust.
Despite warnings from his mother, Breck agreed to meet Daynes at his flat in Essex on 17 February 2014. Shortly after arriving, Daynes murdered him. He was later arrested and sentenced to life in prison.
After Breckâs death, his mother Lorraine Bednar created the Breck Foundation to educate young people about the dangers of online grooming and meeting strangers from the internet.

The Eriksson twins, Ursula and Sabina Eriksson, are Swedish identical twins who became internationally known after a disturbing 2008 incident in England that was partly filmed for the BBC series Motorway Cops. After being removed from a coach on the M6 motorway, both women suddenly ran into high-speed traffic and were struck by vehicles yet survived, astonishing onlookers by standing up and continuing to behave erratically. Authorities reported that the twins appeared paranoid and delusional, allegedly believing people were trying to harm them, and the case was later widely described as an example of shared psychosis, or folie Ă deux. Shortly after being released from police custody, Sabina fatally stabbed a man in Staffordshire and was later convicted of manslaughter following psychiatric evaluation, while Ursula recovered after hospitalization, making the case one of the most unsettling and widely discussed modern examples of shared delusional disorder.

In September 2016, 23-year-old RAF gunner Corrie McKeague vanished in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, after a night out with friends. CCTV showed him walking into an area with BIFFA bins in the early hours of 24 September, and his mobile phone signal later tracked near a landfill site â leading investigators to theorize he may have fallen into a bin that was then emptied into a refuse truck. Despite extensive searches and a high-profile investigation, no remains have ever been found. In 2022 an inquest concluded his death was likely caused by being crushed in a refuse vehicle, though his body has never been recovered.

The murder of Sophie Lancaster occurred in August 2007. She and her boyfriend, Robert Maltby, were attacked by a group of teenage boys in Stubbylee Park in Bacup, Lancashire on 11 August 2007.
