On today’s episode, Johnathon Solinsky and Jose Gardner join Travis Ishida to talk about Long Range Tactics (LRT), where passion meets precision, providing real information and quality Gear Reviews, and more!
Jose Gardner, Reviews Manager and Pro Staff for LRT, picked up shooting at an early age, when gifted a good ole New England Firearms 20 ga single barrel shotgun at age 5. After high school, Jose joined the Marine Corps where the wheels started spinning in his head for what it really takes to be a good shot. Upon graduation from Auburn University, Jose moved to Utah to further his education, and this is where was bit by the long range bug. Jose shot his first long range match in September of 2015 and has shot well north of 75 matches of various disciplines since. Being a research and development scientist by day, Jose’s inquisitive and curious mentality led to a natural fit for reviewing precision shooting gear. Jose has been reviewing gear since 2017 and now helps manage the efforts of Long Range Tactics to spread quality information to the masses. In addition to reviews and matches, Jose also enjoys Long range hunting as well as introducing non -shooters to the world of firearms.
Johnathon Solinsky, Sr. Reviewer and Pro Staff for LRT, first started his professional shooting career when he joined the Marine Corps Infantry in Oct of 2011. Constantly pushing for higher goals, he joined the Scout Sniper Platoon in February of 2013. In August of 2014, he graduated Scout Sniper School and accomplished his most sought after life goal. In 2016 he was introduced to the competitive world of shooting with the Marine Corps Division Combat matches. During this match, he was recruited to become a permanent member of the Marine Corps shooting team. This assignment became a reality in August of 2016, and he was assigned to the Marine Corps Rifle Team. Since then, it has been an endless dive into the competition world, consisting of multiple disciplines of shooting. He continued to shoot competitions on his own after becoming a coach, with a particular interest in .22 matches. He has shot well over 30 .22 matches in the last few years with several match wins and top 3 finishes. He was also picked up by Team Vudoo as one of their shooters. Johnathon has written several reviews and articles in the last year. Passing on his knowledge to others is the cornerstone that drives his passion in the shooting sports. He believes that everyone always has more to learn, no matter how long they have been shooting.
