Robin Barnes has been a ski instructor and trainer at California’s Heavenly Ski Resort since 1989. She is a PSIA-certified Level III alpine instructor, PSIA-Western Regional Demo Team member and PSIA Western Division Tech Team member. Robin spends summers as Director of the Portillo Ski School in Chile. She speaks both Spanish and Portuguese, and has twice earned a spot on SKI Magazine’s Top 100 Instructors list.

Dr. Allison Gruber received her Ph.D. in Kinesiology with a concentration in Biomechanics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2012 under the direction of Dr. Joe Hamill. She received her Master’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science from East Carolina University under the direction of Dr. Paul DeVita and Dr. Tibor Hortobagyi in 2007. Dr. Gruber’s primary research interests include the mechanisms of running related injuries and determinants of metabolic cost in locomotion. Dr. Gruber is an avid animal lover and supports the World Wildlife Foundation, ASPCA, and American Humane Society. She enjoys DIY home renovations, hiking, paddle boarding, and snuggling with her Pit Bulls, Godiva and Cinder.

Maj. Allison Brager is a U.S. Army soldier and neuroscientist. Her research includes studying survival in extreme environments, under sleep deprivation and stress, and why some individuals are resilient and others vulnerable under such conditions. In the Army, she builds a “team of teams” providing cutting-edge technologies, knowledge products, and solutions for fatigue management on the battlefield. She is the author of Meathead: Unraveling the Athletic Brain, a popular science book. Allison also enjoys athletics. She is a two-time CrossFit Games and regional competitor and has competed internationally in track and field as a pole vaulter.
