We're nearing a full week after both Sam Darnold and Cooper Kupp were in Seattle to sign their new contracts. Yet we're still waiting on a lot of key details. The only details missing from the Darnold contract are essentially how many void years may be part of the deal. We talk about the evidence that we'll likely see two years and how it could impact the cap numbers. There is a lot unknown about the Kupp contract, so there is a lot more speculation there and where the guarantees could like to where it could be favorable for both the Seahawks and for Kupp. Plus, we take a look at who is left in the guard market as we close in on the 2025 NFL Draft.

In spite of a March Madness tournament in full swing, our focus remains on the Seahawks as recent signings, potential draft strategies, and the implications of losing key players like DK Metcalf, Geno Smith and Tyler Lockett continue to be explored. Were John Schneider's moves were part of a master plan or simply a reaction to the current state of the team? Even with a lack of offensive line moves, John Schneider has had his busiest off-season since 2011. While it's possible that he's just reacting to moves outside of his control, he discuss whether that is actually the case.

Just like last year, quarterback mania is starting to run wild. With reports of the Jets falling in love with a certain QB and the Steelers cleary still needing a playcaller, is it possible that the Seahawks get an opportunity to select a draft stud who most don't think will be on the board? We'll do a Seahawks news round-up and check out these potential blue-chipper's on this episode of the Sea Hawkers Podcast.

We delve into the implications of the team's current offensive line situation and the potential paths forward, including player development, the draft, and remaining free agent options. With the draft approaching, we focus on nine of the top potential guards (some are projeced at tackle) who fit within the Seahawks' system. It's the start of the new league year for the NFL and that means free agency is officially underway. Although it feels like the Seahawks completely whiffed in losing Will Fries to the Minnesota Vikings, Josh Jones offers a potential upgrade over George Fant and Stone Forsythe - a new member of the Giants. A couple different options remain, but there are some questions surrounding the toughness and scheme fit of those two players. The Seahawks defense got a boost with the signing of DeMarcus Lawrence. His contract numbers look steep initially, but once we see the breakout by year it's likely this is going to be a team friendly deal. Marquez Valdes-Scantling joins the Seahawks wide receiver room. We discuss how he'll help to fill the void left behind by DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

With a Geno Smith trade to the Las Vegas Raiders in the rearview mirror, Sunday afternoon brought us news that DK Metcalf would be heading to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Initially the Seahawks annouced they wanted a 1st and a 3rd rounder, but the Steelers were only willing to part with a 2nd. We unpack the implications of these moves and what they mean for the team's future. Are we witnessing the beginning of a full rebuild, or will another plan come into focus this week? We navigate this uncertain landscape during this live reaction episode.

Well, John went and did it. The Geno Haters Love it. The Geno Lovers Hate it. Is there actually a middle ground??? We're unsure.
We re-react the morning after and discuss:
Is Darnold even a good plan for our Seahawks? Did DK know this was coming? Did he cause it ??? Which QBs will keep us in purgatory and which will fully ensure we tank? How did we get to this!!!!?

The quarterbacks threw at the combine on Saturday and Dan Viens of Seahawks Forever joins the show to offer up his thoughts on the top quarterback performance at the combine. Could this be the year the Seahawks take a QB in the draft. We talk about one aspect of this year's class that could make it the perfect time for John Schneider to make his first day 1 or day 2 quarterback pick since Russell Wilson. DK Metcalf trade rumors heated up this week based on a report of a potential package with the Green Bay Packers. Plus, Deebo Samuel actually got traded! We talk about what's going on with the 49ers and some of the latest news regarding the LA Rams.

As the Seattle Seahawks gear up for free agency, we are diving deep into the current state of the roster and what changes might be on the horizon for our Seattle Seahawks. With the NFL Combine approaching, we talk about the challenges of navigating the "lying season," where speculation runs rampant and misinformation is everywhere. In terms of roster needs, offensive line is the focus (of course), can John Schneider make the right moves this offseason to bolster the interior line? What would be the next biggest need for the Seahawks on offense? We also discuss the state of the defense, where salary cap cuts and potential free agents could have a bigger impact than on offense.
John Schneider was on 710 Seattle sports last week and had an opportunity to walk back his comments on guards being 'overdrafted and overpaid.' Has he learned anything from previous experience when it comes to the offensive line, the role of analytics in the draft process or taking running backs ahead of players in the trenches. At the Shrine Bowl this week, we caught up with Drew Kendall, an offensive lineman from Boston College and son of former Seahawks guard Pete Kendall. Drew discusses his journey to the Shrine Bowl and the importance of running the football in helping offensive linemen thrive. We close the show with Do Better and Better at life as we talk about emails and how we'd like to see the offseason go for our NFC West rivals.

From the press conference reactions to the players who could thrive under Kubiak's scheme, we're breaking down our top picks for who will benefit most from the new offensive direction. How will key players like Kenneth Walker, Charles Cross, and DK Metcalf expect to thrive with Klint Kubiak at the helm? We're also talking about the importance of the offensive line and the need for improvement in the guard position. Can this be the offseason that John Schneider makes significant improvements to the interior of the line?

The first major piece of news to point us toward the offseason direction of the Seahawks has dropped. So just what does the restructuring of the Leonard Williams contract mean? We get into it and discuss what could come next. A Myles Garrett trade would be intriguing, but there are probably about 30 other teams who would be interested. Klint Kubiak had his introductory press conference with the Seahawks this week. We discuss some of the more interesting moments from the offensive coordinator and talk about the potential for the Seahawks to carry a fullback on the roster in 2025.
We kick off the second half of the show with a chat with North Dakota State quarterback Cam Miller, who shared his experience at Shrine Bowl, aspirations for the NFL, and a few players who he believes will have success at the NFL level. Former Seahawks Head Coach Mike Holmgren was snubbed from the Hall of Fame, but after a series of threats we expect he'll get in next year. We wrap up the show with 'Do Better' and 'Better at Life,' featuring Dan Orlovsky's unusual way of eating peanut butter cups, a top 5 list for Aaron Rodgers' landing spots, Saquon Barkley's gesture during the Eagles' Super Bowl parade and a place on Reddit for understanding pop culture references of the past and present.

The Seattle Seahawks have their new offensive coordinator in Klint Kubiak. We explore Kubiak's track record, analyze his time with the Vikings and the Saints, and talk about how his offensive strategies might be applied to the Seahawks' roster. Can Kubiak elevate the play of Geno Smith and improve the team's performance on third downs? We get into the game footage from the New Orleans Saints near comeback against the Washington Commanders late in the season, highlighting key plays and concepts that demonstrate Kubiak's potential to create effective offensive schemes.
There were several challenges Kubiak faced in previous seasons, dealing with backup quarterbacks, injury-riddled offensive lines, and a midseason firing of his head coach while in Denver. With a sharper focus on running the football, Kubiak's approach could lead to better results for Seattle's offense.

Returning to the studio after a week of covering the Shrine Bowl in Dallas, we run through our top 10 players among the college all stars we witnessed first hand. We preview five players who we interviewed and will feature leading up to the draft, we discuss guys who saw their stock rise, and a few players who created some intrigue.
One week after the hiring of Klint Kubiak as the Seahawks offensive coordinator, we speculate on how it might impact the team's future. Have our thoughts on the coach changed since we last gauged our level of excitement surrounding the announcement?
In the second half of the show, we talk briefly about the Pro Bowl and how a pair of quarterbacks nonsensically made the final roster. We also discuss the Super Bowl matchup, and a recent report on the current state of the Seahawks viewership. Suburban dog parks and black licorice health risks land in our Do Better segment. Better at life honors go out to Shrine Bowl marching band and everyone who is helping to produce the show and bring something new to the show after 12 years.
