Former Talking Apes co-host Mark Oguschewitz (Underexposed Cinematic Treasures) joins in as we discuss the story, favorite moments, funniest moments, and easter eggs. How many easter eggs did you find? We found lots that connected the classic films and TV series. We may have forced some but we got them to work. We also discuss the “gospel” word of the Lawgiver. And was Proximus Caesar inspired by Caesar the ape or Julius Caesar? We also read your comments on the film. We were surprised by the outcome. Now, go Ape
together strong!

  • In this episode, the new Talking Apes Facebook admin. Patrick Izzo joins us as we break down the 6th and final installment of Marvel’s ‘Planet of the Apes’ adaptation. Discussions include what Dr. Zaius meant when he told Taylor, “Be careful what you look for, you may not like what you find.” Also, has Nova seen the half-buried Statue of Liberty before she and Taylor stumbled upon it?

We also discuss Marvel’s new Apes comic prequel series, ‘Beware of the Planet of the Apes’. Did you know there is an Apes ride attraction? It’s not in Anaheim or Orlando, but in Malaysia! ‘Invasion Of The Planet Of The Apes’ is an immersive trackless dark ride that opened in 2022. You can even watch this ride-through video!

Then we discuss the latest trailer of ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’. The film’s release date was just moved from May 24th to May 10th which means we’ll be entering the kingdom 2 weeks earlier!

First, we have a treat for you! Do you ever forget what the exact Planet of the Apes TV episodes were about and where they fall in order?

We came up with an ape-themed rendition of “The 12 days of Christmas” but summarizing the series episodes. But wait, aren't there 14 episodes? You are so right so we made an extended version. (Caution: Richard and Kevin are not singers so listen with caution.) To make it all the much better, we asked Dr. Zaius to step in. Let us know if this rendition helps you remember.

Also on this Holiday Special, we continue our colorful commentary of Marvel’s ADVENTURES ON THE PLANET OF THE APES adaptation series (1975-1976). Here, we will break down the fifth of six issues, titled - INTO THE FORBIDDEN ZONE!

  • Talking Apes explores Comics!

    Video version: https://youtu.be/QGhcpNT9gZ8

Welcome to our 9th Anniversary Episode! We are back after a Summer break.

In this episode we will continue our colorful commentary of Marvel’s ADVENTURES ON THE PLANET OF THE APES adaptation series (1975-1976). We will break down the third of six issues, titled, MANHUNT! Written by Doug Moench with artwork by George Tuska, M. Esposito, T. Morellaro, and George Roussos. This issue was released on December 1, 1975

We go over the issue as well as review the cover art with YOUR help. We read many comments where you told us your opinion of the cover art by Ron Wilson. The general consensus is that Taylor looks like Steve Reeves’ Hercules. And what is up with that ape pushing Taylor out of the way from being caught in the net? So much to discuss!

And we continue our countdown to APE-ril, 2024. So many exciting episodes coming your way!

  • Talking Apes is back to explore a medium we haven't covered yet - Comics!

Planet of the Apes comics date back to 1974 with a 29-issue series published by Curtis Comics. In this episode we will break down the first of six issues of the Apes adaptation with our colorful commentary. We discuss the differences between the film and comic and the very psychedelic artwork. • We’re back! After another looooong hiatus, Talking Apes returns with a super episode! Richard Woloski and Kevin Toft look ahead to what’s coming up in Apes fandom. In April we get the new Marvel comic series, the first since 1975. Then in 2024 we can look forward to the next film, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes! We go over the recent casting news and speculate on what writers, Rick Jaffa and Amanada Silver, said in recent interviews.

Also, we finish up the series where we break down the unproduced Planet of the Apes TV series scripts and synopses. There were eight unproduced stories, four of which are in script form where in past episodes we did readings with a full cast. Now, we review the last four story synopses. These include “The Trek”, “Freedom Road”, “The Mine”, and “The Trial”. What is your opinion of these stories? And which Ape TV-Verse do you prefer: these unproduced stories or the plots the CBS shows gave us?

In this episode we finish our series on the Planet of the Apes unproduced TV script breakdowns with “Hostage.” But this time we bring in a full cast! We had a blast going through this script and even left in a lot of bloopers, gaffes, and screw-ups.

“Hostage” was written by Stephen Kandel, who has written scripts for Star Trek, The Bionic Man, Bionic Woman, Dukes of Hazzard, Charlie’s Angels, Wonder Woman, Batman, CHIPS, Love Boat, Dynasty, Hart to Hart, and The New Mike Hammer. “Hostage” is dated April 5th, 1974.

    Story Synopsis

Galen, Virdron, and Kovack stumble upon the meeting place for the UFF - United Freedom Force - which is an outlawed civil rights group composed of humans and apes who wish to overthrow the Simian government and replace it with a more tolerant system.

In this episode of Talking Apes, Richard is joined by Max Cervantes and Kevin Toft of The Max EFX podcast. Talking Apes continues the series of episodes where they break down and give commentary on unproduced live-action Planet of the Apes TV scripts.

In the last episodes, Richard and Mark Oguschewitz reviewed two of Rod Serling’s unproduced scripts, ‘Episode I’ and ‘Episode II.’ Now Richard, Max and Kevin cover the third unproduced script, ‘A Fallen God’, written by Anthony Lawrence who co-wrote the Apes TV episode, 'The Deception.’

On the farm, Alan and Kovack sees the patriarch, Telemon, and his family worshipping an object which turns out to be a radio transmitter. Alan and Kovack must find a way to get to it since that might be a way to communicate to other humans. • This episode of Talking Apes is dedicated to the bright center of the Apes fan community, Angela Rushmere, who has passed away. We, along with the many Ape fans, had numerous heartfelt comments that will be read on the show.

Then in this episode we will be breaking down the 2nd unproduced Rod Serling script for the live-action Planet of the Apes TV series, Titled Episode 2. If you thought we argued last time, this will take us to UrkoTastic levels!

    STORY SUMMARY:

Ursus and his Security Force, which includes his 15 year old son, Zonda, head out to search for Alan, Kovack and Galen and before long they find them.

The renegades take off and in the heat of the chase, Alan knocks Zonda unconscious. Suddenly Alan, Kovack and Galen are aided by unseen assailants and the ape soldiers are forced to retreat.

These new “friends,” who are well cultured and live underground, are curious about Alan and Kovack who have befriended an animal, Galen. They want Galen, and Zonda who was brought with them, put to death until Alan demands they are put on trial to prove they are not as barbaric as the apes.

Also with this episode, Mark says his farewell due to a heavy workload and career opportunities. Since Mark is a HUGE Muppet fan we have a special segment where we find Planet of the Apes and Muppet crossovers. You probably didn’t think there were any, huh?

And Dr. Zaius has been putting in his two cents about the global pandemic as seen on Jimmy Kimmel Live! And Dana Gould’s YouTube channel. (Not sure why he chose Dana Gould?) We also learn what delicious snacks Zaius enjoys.
