  • Growing up in the 90s, it was easy to look for fanbase who support English Premier League clubs. Whether its Manchester United or Liverpool, Aston Villa or Derby County, its always easy to find with just a throw of a stone.

Despite of its rich history, the same can’t be said about the Germany’s Bundesliga. However, all that is about to change with the introduction of satellite television that was broadcasting live matches from Germany. Pretty soon, a generation of fans who loathed the so-called biggest league in the world, found an alternative in clubs such as Bayern Munich, Werder Bremen and in this episode’s case, Borussia Dortmund.

On this episode, we got in touch with Zahin Asyraf as we wanted to learn more about his affiliation with the Die Schwarzgelben and what makes the club so enduring and special.

We would like to wish our sincere gratitude to Zahin for taking his time to talk to us despite still feeling jetlag from the long travel from Dortmund back to Kuala Lumpur. We truly appreciate it!

  • We've been away too long so it was good to be back again recording another episode.

This time, we managed to track down the head coach of the Kenyan National Team, Harambee Stars. To be honest, our relationship with coach Firat goes some way back when we got connected on LinkedIn.

We had the pleasure of asking him on his coaching journey, his footballing philosophy and not to mentioned, there is also several interesting discussion on Malaysian football as well.

Plenty of discussion going on here so please do give this episode a listen.

  • I'm sure most football fans are well aware of South American clubs named after others places from around the world. From Barcelona SC in Ecuador to Argentina's Arsenal to Everton based on Chile; they all have a fascinating story to tell.

However club that is named after Malaysia? Well that is something else.

A few weeks back, a tweet from @hafeizh29 went viral because he managed to discover a team all the way from Montevideo, Uruguay named Malasia FC. Malasia is actually the Spanish translation for Malaysia.

We knew this will be an interesting story, hence why we decided to reach out to them via Instagram and asked if they would like to feature in our podcast. The answer was an instant yes, and they were truly honoured to be our guest.

What was the inspiration behind the name? How is their journey so far? We tried to cover everything on this episode. We would like to wish our sincere thanks to Santiago for responding to us on Instagram and making all the necessary arrangement and also to Facundo and Gonzalo for taking their time to speak to us.

  • Just a laidback episode as Sivan and Bala were joined by our extended family member, Ras from the Back Passt With Ras.

We talked about the World Cup, the feelings that goes through as the day approaches. We also touched upon on what does the Greatest Show on earth means to us as fan of the game. Is the criticism towards Qatar as host of the competition was valid? Yes, we did had our say on that too.

Anyway, we hope you enjoy this latest episode.

  • Paulo Josue, the Brazilian captain of KL City is back on our podcast.

Since the last time we spoke to him, KL City went on to lift the Malaysia Cup and are now riding high after defeating PSM Makassar. Hence why we just had to invite him again on our podcast.

As always, from our conversation, he is one player that is never about himself but rather than putting the team in front of him, always; as evident from the title of this episode. Not forgetting it is always fun chatting with him.

  • The focus on football is often always on the top flight and professional aspect of the game. However, what is often forgotten, is the other end of the pyramid; the social, recreational and amateur landscape of football.

As we all know, football is just a game, and in the words of coach Gordon Bombay of the Mighty Ducks, games should always be fun. When talking about fun, you won't find anywhere better than having a kickabout with a group friends.

Hence why on this episode, we've got the best person to talk about this subject. Khal is an avid football activists and has been a prominent voice in promoting social, recreational and amateur football.

  • In the recent AFF Suzuki Cup, not only Thailand have regain their place as the Kings of South East Asia after winning the tournament, they have also played some of the most scintillating brand of football we have seen in this region.

This happened after the War Elephant have been enduring a torrid 2021 in which they didn't win any of their remaining World Cup qualifier games, thus missing out on the third round.

The brainchild behind this renaissance is none other than the head coach Mano Pölking, who took the job just a few months before the tournament.

On this episode, we asked Coach Mano on the background of his appointment for this job, the challenge that he had to undertake, expectation came with it and much more.

We would like to wish our sincere thanks to Coach Mano for taking his time to speak with us, it was a real honor for us to have him as our guest.

  • From our playground days experience, the most obvious thing we know is that not everyone wants to be a goalkeeper. Hence why, that role is somehow rather reserve for one of our co-host, Bala.

However in the context of modern football, we have also learned a great deal that being a good goalkeeper is not for everyone. Hence, not only it takes a special kind of talent, but also a special kind of coaching to become a top one.

We are honored and privilege to have Jyri Nieminen, who is the goalkeeping coach for the New York Red Bulls.

We tried to touch on every single aspect that evolves around goalkeeping coaching, be it technique and skills, or emotional and mental strength.

If you have as aspiration in becoming a keeper, then this episode is for you!

  • When mentioned the name Zesh Rehman to any Malaysian football fan, the first thing that comes to mind is him being one-quarter of the famous Pahang's Four Horsemen from 2014 (alongside Dickson Nwakaeme, Matias Conti, and Damion Stewart). That year, Pahang prevented JDT's rise to dominance in the Malaysian football landscape.
One can never forget that year's Malaysia Cup Final. A sold-out occasion in Bukit Jalil Stadium, the final had all the drama, tension, and excitement of what makes a classic game.
We took this opportunity to talk to Zesh Rehman, on his journey in England and the challenges he faced as a South Asian British footballer. Followed by a series of successes in Thailand, Hond Kong before arriving in Malaysia to play for Pahang.

  • KL City FC is riding high on a 10 game unbeaten streak since drawing with defending champions JDT back in April and is currently sitting comfortably at sixth position in the Super League. Though they were unlucky to be drawing most of them it is still a remarkable run for a team that just got promoted this season.

Playing a big part in this is the team's captain marvelous Paulo Josue!

This season will be Josue's fifth year playing for the City Boys. Ever since arriving from Brazil in 2017, he has been an ever mainstay in the team and this year, he was given the honour of taking over the captain armband. As evident from KL's recent run, Josue has played an outstanding role both on and off the pitch.

So we took the opportunity to chat with Josue, we wanted to understand what has been going behind the scene that has led to KL resurgence this season and also in his own words, what makes a leadership example.

  • When mentioned the name Marlon Alex James to Malaysian football fans, three things come to mind. Goals, goals, and more goals.

Ever since he arrived here in 2004 to play for the now-defunct side Selangor MK Land, the Vincetion international striker will always find the net one way or the other. Thus cementing himself as one of the greatest goalscorers in the Super League.

His goals have been played an important role for many reasons but there is none bigger than helping Kedah to clinch an unprecedented back-to-back TREBLE (Super League, FA Cup, and Malaysia Cup). A feat that has yet to be matched to this day.

His love for Malaysia is so much that when foreign players were allowed back in 2012 (Football Association of Malaysia barred foreign players from competing in the Malaysia Super League starting from 2008 season), he immediately made a quick return. Marlon James, suit up for the Armed Force team and went on to have several more fantastic years before deciding on hanging on his boots for good.

Despite being in the middle of a vacation in Rhodes Island, he still found the time to speak to us and share his fondest memories both on and off the field.  For this, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude, thank you so much, Marlon James.

  • Although he spent the bulk of his football career in Hong Kong, mentioned the name Tim Bredbury it will definitely raise a few eyebrows among older generation Malaysian football fans. Especially among long-time Selangor faithful, as Bredbury had spent a season with the Red Giants in the early 1990s.
These days, Tim Bredbury is still based in Hong Kong where he is involved in coaching. It was a great opportunity for us to be able to catch up with him and talk about his playing journey from Liverpool to Hong Kong to Malaysia. As you can hear from the conversation, Malaysia still remains close to his heart even after all these years.

  • Mentioned the word FC Bayern Munich, it doesn't take long for any football fans to recognize as it is one of the strongest brand in world football. But just much do we know about its women's team?

It was a sweet season for the club as they manage to seize the Frauen-Bundesliga title after four season, from their arch rivals VfL Wolfsburg. The club was also very unlucky not to take part in the UEFA Champions League final after getting knocked out by Chelsea in the last four.

Like their men's counterpart, the women's team is a major powerhouse both in Germany and Europe, so it was a huge honour for us to talk to the team's sporting director, Bianca Rech.

We wanted to understand just how the women's department is run, the support it gets from the top hierarchy and  the continuous challenge on the women's game from within and outside the club itself.

  • We're honored to have Mr Lim Teong Kim back again on the podcast.

Previously he was featured in our podcast Episode No.28, discussing about his role at the National Football Development Programme plus many more.

This time, he wanted to share with us his thought on Harimau Malaya's recent performance at the World Cup/Asian Cup qualifier.

He also had some fiery words with regards to Football Association of Malaysia's new policy of opening to naturalized footballers to play for the National Team.

Surely most football aficionados in Malaysia are aware, Mr Lim Teong Kim is someone who is known for speaking his mind but we would also wish to remind our listeners to do enjoy listening to this episode with an open mind.

  • As someone who has served the country for more than 30 years and has been involved in Malaysia's Olympic Contingent in various capacities from the Summer Games in Barcelona 1992 to London 2012, it was important for us to dedicate this special episode to Dr. Ramlan Abd. Aziz on his life experience and journey.
