After moving to a new state where the rules on when you can take the PE after passing the FE are looser, Connor had his chance.
In May 2024, his boss challenged him to take it immediately. After realizing the timing was perfect and that the best window for him to take the test was June 2024, he went for it. đȘ

Diagnosed with Autism and ADHD, Nicole faced the daunting task of passing the Civil PE Exam â no easy feat for anyone, but especially challenging with her conditions.

After graduating in Chicago, Illinois, he noticed pretty soon that nobody knew what civil engineers do. Especially members of minority groups, who didnât even see it as a possible career for them.
As an African-American himself who had a good job at the Illinois Department of Transportation and then even started his own firm, Pinpoint Precision Engineering, he knew the field doesnât get as much good rep as it should.

In this episode, we interview Joe Ebinger, a mechanical engineer by education whoâs been working in the civil engineering industry for 21 years. Because of his job, he decided to go for the Civil PE Exam, which came with one (big) problem: he knew very little about the heavy civil topics we learn in school, like concrete and transportation. đš
âI never studied to pass the exam. I studied to become a Professional Engineer.â With this mindset, he decided to teach himself the topics in which he lacked. Even though it mightâve taken him a bit longer to study and fully prepareâŠhe made it!
