In 2025, Recon celebrates an incredible milestone - its 25th Anniversary. In our first episode of the new year, Antoin interviews Recon’s founder, and still the owner, Philip Hamill (aka ‘masked’) about the humble origins of your favourite kink and fetish platform. Philip says that “It’s really the members that make the platform as popular as it has become”. They talk about how one guy’s search to find other kinksters evolved from just a simple web page into the creation of profiles and then the website and app we use today. Philip gives us some insights into the early challenges and how he had to adapt and grow with the invention of apps, navigating the rules set by big tech, and how the popularity of social media shapes the kink we experience today.
