We change and evolve throughout our life time.Different people and messages come into our lives when we need them.Change and growth can bring with it both positives and also challenges. We remember and learn in different ways. There are always opportunities to change our path or to put things right. Focussing on what we are grateful for helps us to feel better and supports our minds to create more of those positives.

    BEST MOMENTS

“I think looking back over the podcasts, I’m so lucky to have so many amazing guests, so many interesting people that want to come on and talk. And I think it's been really interesting for my growth as well. I always learn something new from the podcasts.”“We are always learning and growing and evolving and becoming different people.”“Because I think I started off the year, and it's really hard to look back because this year feels like it's gone in the blink of an eye, it's gone so fast.”“It's not like I spend a lot of time deliberating or thinking on something or planning it out. It's, I mean, whether you're not, you believe that it's my unconscious, subconscious, mind bringing forward what I need to do next, or whether you believe it's guides or the Universe, it seems to just appear.”“And it's been quite fascinating listening to your way of remembering all these different words, because obviously I'm looking at them and I'm like, oh, that's a French word. That's a German word. That's an Italian word, because for whatever reason, I seem to be okay with languages. But you're like, I don't recognise that. I'm going to create some fancy way of remembering.”“So, I would just say, have a think about what you can be grateful for, regardless of what year you've had. What have you learned? How have you grown? What have you achieved?”

  • In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Cassie Spray, an artist who became disillusioned whilst working alongside educational establishments. Cassie recognised that within her there was desire to create positive change for others, whilst also being able to use her creativity. Being unsure of what to do next, she asked for guidance from God.

After listening to a podcast about Shungite, the answers came and she began to create pieces of jewellery and products harnessing the properties of shungite, a black stone with a high carbon content.

During this podcast Cassie discusses her discoveries about shungite and how it can benefit health and well-being.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

Shungite can be used to promote well-being. Individuals use shungite to assist with protection from EMFs. Do what you can to make your life’s journey beautiful.Shungite has a different structure to a crystal. The right people will hear your message and be open to what you can contribute to the world.Follow your passions and inspiration.

    BEST MOMENTS

“I was there for about five years and with my work, I decided it needed to come to an end because what shocked me was, they were not interested when people were presenting that had been cured.”“We made our own silver solutions. We added it, we got some Shungite powder, we added it and we developed our own range and it was like, I want to be able to bring this to people in an affordable way.”“And one of the things that he said was working on a problem, if the solution isn't beautiful, he knows it's not right. And my journey with this Shungite stone was, it's really plain and black, you know, it's really quite boring. And so, I was like, Oh, we could make it really beautiful.”“My heart drives my work. And, it's not often been easy. I've often gone without; I’ve lived off grid in a van for years. You know, my son didn't enjoy that. But it meant that I could be there for him as a single parent. I could take him to after school clubs, we could have the holidays together and I could develop my art practice.”So the difference between shungite and a crystal would be that the crystal has a lattice structure. It's absorbing the sun's infrared frequencies, and that is setting the frequency coming out of your crystal. Now, because Shungite doesn't have a lattice structure, it's actually emitting far infrared frequencies.”“Someone would come, they'd try, you know, we'd get them playing with things on the day and often they would come back the next day and tell us all these amazing things that happened overnight.”“So this is where the resonance of the quantum entanglement of the fullerene molecule in the Shungite is pairing with you, your heart's desires."“Keep asking those questions, because that being resonance means you have to ask the question for God, the Universe to bring you the answer.”

  • In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Becky Lovatt who works with Human Design, Astrology, and Sound Healing through singing bowls to help individuals explore the story of their life so far so that they can fall back in love with the simple joys of their life in the present and align with health and well-being for their future.

Becky who studied law and was working in the corporate world experienced massive life changes during her Saturn return, allowing her to come back to her spiritual connection and change her life path. Saturn return is a time when the planet Saturn returns to the same positioning it was in when you were born. Through studying astrology and human design, she is now able to give guidance to others about their life paths and journey through the stars.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

Saturn Return first takes place at around 29 years old and marks major life changes, giving you the opportunity to reflect on your life so far and the direction you are going. Human Design helps you to explore who you are, why you are here and what you are good at.We all have different gifts, skills, and roles to play.According to astrology, when and where we are born has an influence on who we are and the life we lead. When we align with the things we love and connect to our authentic selves, life flows in a more positive way.We need to get out of our heads and connect to how things feel.Learning how to be still and listen takes practice.

    BEST MOMENTS

“Then eventually classic Saturn returns. So around 28, 29 years old, life threw me a few curve balls to navigate. And I came back to my spiritual practice from there.”“If this kind of culmination of the lifetime that you have or have had already, you get an opportunity to go, do you really want this? Or is there something different out there for you?”“It's the story of Saturn being the karmic teacher, being our teacher in life in general, giving us structure, giving us purpose, coming at us and being like, okay, are you ready now? Do you want to do this?”“The human design blueprint gives you a body outline. So, it shows you what the planets were doing in terms of your individual energy circuitry, which gives you an understanding of who I am, what I'm here for, what am I good at.”“There are five different energy types that everyone in the world will be assigned to and they show us how energy should flow through life. So, we have manifestor’s, manifesting generators, generators, projectors, and reflectors.”“Everything's much more easier, much more in flow, much, you know, more peaceful and satisfactory when you're actually doing things that you love doing and spending time with people that you love being around.”“So, a light language, the few different kind of things that people would call it. Speaking in tongues would be a quite a common way of people describing it. It's really a way of getting out of your head and into your heart.”“So, the more time you can spend sitting with yourself, understanding yourself, understanding your triggers, understanding your old stories and old patterns and beliefs. And allowing yourself to shed and change and move forwards into what you actually are here to do and feel inside, the easier this transition will be.”

  • In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Michael Daw, who has recently completed his PhD in parapsychology, his study focussing on the impact that vegetarianism, veganism, and fasting has on spirituality and psychic phenomenon.

During this conversation, Mike discusses his reasoning for adopting a vegan diet and the benefit that this had on his health, sharing the experiences that those in his study found when they altered their dietary practices. This encourages Debbie to enquire and reflect on her dietary experiences and that of her husband Pete, Mike thoughtfully engaging in this conversation with sensitivity.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

For some individuals, a change in their dietary practice can increase their spiritual connection and sensitivity to psychic phenomenon.Animals have a consciousness. There is a connection with vegetarianism and different spiritual traditions. Our diet impacts our health and well-being.We are all on our own path and we should value our personal experience. We are all part of a connected system, and we need a healthy planet to be able to thrive. Each of us can make small changes in our diet and lifestyle to help ourselves, each other and our planet.

    BEST MOMENTS

“I mean, I've always been interested in food. I've also always been interested in parapsychology, so it was brilliant to have the two coming together.”“I read a really good book by a guy called Graham Nichols called Avenues of the Human Spirit and he basically said ‘Well, if we share our consciousness with animals then you know, we really shouldn't be mistreating them in the way we do because that has an impact on us.’”“When I went vegan, I didn't really notice much difference in my health when I went vegetarian, because before I was vegan, I'd given up meat, but I was still eating dairy. When I actually gave up dairy, I noticed a huge difference to my health, you know, I suddenly felt clearer and I had fewer or if no colds or flu, my eczema that I had on my back of my hands and my elbows that just went.”“You do need to honour your personal experience.”“You know indigenous people who eat meat, a lot of those people, they respect the animal that they've killed, if you'd like. So, there is a kind of spiritual connection. They're very conscious of how that animal has lived.”“And I sent them a questionnaire really asking them about how often they had spiritual experiences how often they have paranormal experiences.”“So, it does seem that vegetarian and vegans have more of these experiences than those people who eat meat and the same with people who fast.”“We're not the only species that use tools. We're not the only animals that have languages. We're not the only animals that have culture. So, I think that there is a great deal of wisdom in a number of different animals, and possibly even plants too.”

How is it actually fuelling my body?’”“So sometimes it's actually training your brain because at the end of the day, a lot of the addictions that we have towards food, is actually our brain that gets fixated on it.”“My passion is the gut and the liver and it's those organs that regulate pretty much everything about us.”“Actually, I need to accept that this is where I've been. This is what I've gone through. And these are possibly the reasons why I'm eating like I am, or I have the habits that I have.”“But it wasn't actually allowing me to express what I needed to express.”“We are all the experts of us because nobody else is walking in our shoes. No one knows really how you feel or what you're thinking. So, once you actually help start building their confidence and give them that power back, I think sometimes that's actually really transformational on its own.”“And we're not meant to be the same person. And it was just, yeah, ever since that moment I was hooked.”“I just love seeing everything out there. And it does really ground you because…I suppose it's because it feels like it's how the old world was, if that makes sense. You know, when we first sort of, I don't want to get too philosophical about coming out of the primeval soup and all the rest of it, but it's that kind of thing, isn't it?”“And I came up with this phrase of even when there's nothing to see, I can see everything. And that was just that basic, you know, my mind was emptying out, but …I just felt at one with the ground, which is just kind of, I don't know, it sounds really spiritual and that's not really who I am, but it is in the sense of, that’s why I love the whole thing about safaris.”“People could actually take people to Africa and be in literally in the middle of nowhere and stay at an amazing lodge and stuff and have, you know, giraffes and zebra and things walking by the pool and stuff like that.”“But I think mentally, you're rejuvenated, but physically you're quite tired.”“And that's when the mind gets more creative and that's when you then start to, I guess you then become more able to see things more clearly. Through his personal journey of using cognitive behavioural therapy to overcome depression, Piero discovered that by becoming aware of our thought processes and exposure to new information, we have the potential to heal. This motivated him to use this understanding, alongside research, to support others experiencing grief. Piero created a resource ‘Love Knows No Death’ which he donated to the Forever Families Foundation, as a way of sharing this information.

I did not meet God or anything. It was a simple anecdote narrated by my wife.”“Evidence tells us that personality survives physical death...we have... colossal amounts of evidence from about 12 different independent areas of investigation, all pointing coherently and consistently to this survival hypothesis.”“This information has a phenomenal, transformative potential for two categories of people, those who are in pain over the loss of a loved one, and those who are in fear over impending death, either their own or a loved one.”“I suffered from severe clinical depression for about a year and a half. Frankly, suicidal, and I was cured.”“But it was also very significant intellectually because having learned about the relationship between thoughts. and moods, thoughts, and emotions. I always thought that emotions came first and thought came later. Well, that is obviously not the case”“That death is not the end of existence, it's the end of material existence, ourselves, our mind, our memory, our thoughts, our personality, and critically for people who have had a loss, our affections go on existing after the death of the physical body.”“I encourage people to read, to learn, to study, to explore. We often develop negative self-talk through the interactions that we have in childhood.By removing ourselves from our day-to-day environment it can give us space to discover things about ourselves.Once you have recognised the loop of negative self-talk you can do something to change it.Negative self-talk can cause psychological and physical ailments. When you begin to like yourself, it helps your confidence to grow.It can be useful to observe your thoughts and make a note of the themes within them. The mind is incredibly powerful in giving us what it thinks we want or need.

    BEST MOMENTS

“You probably won't meet anyone as joyful and happy as me today.”“I grew up in a quite an unusual environment. It was very negative. I was always told that I was never going to be able to attain anything. I was stupid. So, I grew up, basically believing this about myself, which does not help in life.”“I went to an ashram for six months in India, away from everything, you know. I mean, this was back in 1999, so we didn't really have social media like we have now. But it was just fantastic to go to this place, and it was like a dream come true, I was meditating every day, and I was doing yoga. I met some incredible people. And I was really able to spend that time to go within myself.”“Everyone's different, you know, everyone's individual.”“Now you've come to a realisation that you do have choice within situations. How do you get yourself to that point where you recognise that? You know what? It's because my epiphany told me that all of this was illusionary, right?”“And once you've broken that loop and you've got that awareness of this, then you have choice.”But I have to say, you know, one of the most helpful things that's really helped me along my journey, is positive self-talk and recognizing negative self-talk. I do believe this is a bit of a pandemic in the world today. I believe it's responsible in some shape or form for all psychological and physical ailments. I truly believe it's very overlooked and not talked about enough, which is why I want to talk about it.”

From an early age Nicola discovered that she had the innate skill of communicating effectively with others; something which was nurtured within her professional career, as she acquired skills in personal and leadership development. Through this work she unearthed the transformational power of coaching, assisting people to move, progress and make the changes they want to make both personally and professionally, therefore enabling them to be their best self and reach their potential.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

High quality coaching can help you action your goals and realise your potential.Communication skills are important in all areas of life. When you make a commitment to yourself, you can make massive positive changes. When those at the top of an organisation are clear about their goals and work on themselves, that has a positive impact throughout the organisation. It is important that coaches have worked on themselves so that they can be at their best for their clients.Coaching can give you mental flexibility. We have the resources within us, coaching can help us access them.

    BEST MOMENTS

“I was asked to manage a team of coaches and that's where I discovered coaching. And, and I just loved it, and I thought, right, well, if I'm going to manage it, I kind of need to know the depth of it. I really want to know what it is that I'm talking about.”“When you're dealing with personal coaching, you're dealing with the person's life. So, if you're not skilled, competent, and flexible with the breadth of tools, techniques and the ability to be completely client centred, then you're doing your client a disservice, potentially, because you're muddying it with your lens or your experience or your world.”“Sometimes if you're quite people centred, you're quite externally validated.”“To have, you know, almost someone telling me that my instinct was right. It was the first time where I ever really tuned in and became more congruent with myself.”“I choose to work in the executive leadership space because my belief is if I can use who I am and if I can use my skills to help people, towards the top of the organization, then that's going to filter through the organization, it's going to affect more people.”“Many people come to me wanting to thrive, you know, believing, that presupposition that we hold, which is, you know, whatever we think we are, we are capable of so much more, you know, we're so much more than we think we are.”“I would say you already have it within you, whatever it is that you want, whatever it is that you think you need, you already have it. Ask yourself what you want and ask yourself a time when you've had it before because it's pretty likely that you've had it before. You have all the resources within you to be who you want to be."

It definitely feels like there's something behind the scenes, like there's something orchestrating it all.”“And I just said, it's okay to have a breakdown. • In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Joanna Waddell who is a counsellor, and a breathwork and meditation teacher.

After rushing around and attempting to do it all, Joanna became ill with chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). As she began to search for answers to assist with her recovery, she came to realise that we are encouraged to spend so much time being busy that we spend little time on our self-care. Understanding that this had to change, Joanna embarked on embracing a gentler way of living, something which she now nurtures within her clients and herself.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

Rest and self-care need to be seen as a priority. In order to function in our lives effectively, we need to take care of ourselves. What is happening in the world around us can impact our health and wellbeing.Community is important for wellbeing.Resting is a skill that many of us need to learn which needs to be practised. Our body and mind communicate with us to give us messages. We are a part of the natural world and when we connect with it, we feel better.

    BEST MOMENTS

“I found myself listening to their stories. It felt really important to listen to people's stories. And I found I worried that I didn't know how to listen appropriately to people's stories.”“And then I was kind of doing self-care, sort of tacked on to the end of a very long day if I had anything left. And yeah, I just started to become really ill. I got brain fog, that was so bad. I couldn't recognize people's faces. I couldn't drive. I was so exhausted.”“I felt a great deal of shame about getting so sick when I kind of should have known better because I was caring for other people's mental health and the knock-on effects on their physical health and yet managed to get so ill myself.”“And so, I sort of created it as, you know, a gentle way of living for people, for communities, and for the planet.”“I realized that actually a big part of what people need is community and, places to be together with other people who, you know, want to live more gently, to sort of share ideas, but also to learn practices of rest.”“Whereas now I if I have those sorts of playful thoughts, I think that's what my body's asking for you know and go and do it.”

You know, we need to rid everybody of all their karma so we can move into a more peaceful way of living.”“And these women are our ancestors, you know, we're all connected, all of us, and these are real women with real children and real lives.”“There's no wonder that many of us who have come down to earth at this time are here to find our voice again.”“The water holds energy and consciousness, the trees, you know, it's all just energy, whether we call it, energy or whether we call it quantum physics, science. It's the same thing, isn't it? It's just different ways of practicing and there's no right way and no wrong way, you know, we're all different, but we all have something to give.”“We're all supposed to be in jobs and living our life with things that are fun. You know, we're not meant to be doing a job from eight till six every day that we absolutely detest just to pay for the roof over our head.”

You become more confident, more outgoing, you know, and that's the whole idea of these things.”“And when she passed away, it was, I will honestly say, it was some of the darkest times of my life ever. And then I sat there one night thinking, well, yeah, okay, I've lost somebody, but they have as well. So, the students have lost a mentor, a friend, a confidant, that sort of thing. • In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with John Bowtell who helps individuals explore their emotions through the use of drama and play using developmental transformations.

Through his theatre background, John became aware of dramatherapy, a type of psychotherapy; and how the intentional use of drama techniques and ideas could assist in the therapeutic encounter.

During his work with his clients, John becomes a part of the unfolding drama to safely co-create the experience with his clients, exploring whatever roles or scenarios are relevant to meet their therapeutic needs at that time.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

We play different roles within our daily life.Through the use of drama therapy, we can work through what is stuck mentally or emotionally to transform it into something different.Drama therapy can be a safe way to explore aspects of ourselves that we do not feel able to show the rest of the world.Through dramatherapy, an individual can not only explore their obstacles but also how to successfully move away from them.Drama therapy can be used to explore different power structures within our lives and within society.Play is important for wellbeing.

    BEST MOMENTS

“It's something that kind of comes naturally. So, I think of drama as an art form. It's the one that's closest to normal life. So actually, we're all doing, you know, we're doing an improvisation now. We're playing our roles, we're performing. This is very natural human activity.”“But in order to do your role effectively, it's going to change in relation to your client. So, the way that you show up for one client is different from the way you show up for another client.”“It's much more fun playing the bad guys, playing the people that you're not, right? And you can then present aspects of yourself that are not socially acceptable or they're not potentials that you can bring forward in your everyday life.”“These things, if they're unexplored or unexpressed, then they can cause blockages in us.”“Basically, we agree it's pretend. We agree that it's play. It's not for real. That's the deal. It's defined by restraining from harm.”“This is a kind of everyday miracle to me. That however heavy the material is, actually it can all be played with, and it can all be transformed.”

  • In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Nawab Pasnak, the head of the International Sufi Movement.

During this conversation Nawab will discuss how he came to learn about the Sufi movement and how this led him to be a seeker of wisdom as he embarked on a process of purification, unlearning preconceptions and dogmas that he had been carrying around with him.

Nawab focuses on the importance of working on ourselves, unlearning the preconceptions and limiting beliefs that hold us back so that we can connect in to love, hope, and joy. A significant aspect of this is through connection to the breath and our intuition guiding us to recognise we are all connected.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

The attitudes and assumptions that we learn throughout life can become a barrier to true connection with ourselves. When working on the heart it encourages compassion, kindness, generosity and acceptance. For our happiness, we need to recognise that we can control our mind, and we can change it.Our breath is a current of energy that flows through us which his directed through our words, thoughts, actions and feelings. When we listen to our intuition, we discover a connection that we are part of everything and everything is part of us.

    BEST MOMENTS

“So if we think that Sufi is about wisdom, then it means that it's someone who is looking for wisdom, not somebody who claims to have wisdom, because anybody who says they're wise is obviously a fool.”“There's a couple of chronic illnesses that the world suffers from right now. One is that we think too much, or we overthink everything. Another is that we're extremely materialistic. We try to quantify and measure everything, and it's all in terms of our sensory experiences, which is always limited, that can only take you so far. And the third illness, common chronic illness that we suffer from, that the world suffers from, is to have a frozen heart.”There's meant to be a stream, a well that flows out of the heart, but you have to dig for it, because often the well has been, you know, there's a lot of sediment in there, and you have to dig down. And if you're willing to do the work and get through the mud that you do encounter when you start to excavate your heart, then in time the stream flows, and that flowing helps to purify the channel.”“If you're playing with a child, if the child says something rough or hurtful, well, you wish they would behave better, and you try to teach them better behaviour, but you don't feel crushed because a child says something rude to you. Well, in fact, most of the world, with all love and respect to them, they're still children."“The spirit of guidance works on different levels. On the physical level, spirit of guidance, you could say is about reflexes... When the Spirit of Guidance speaks through what we call our mind, we call it intuition. And if we listen, our hearing becomes sharper. We begin to hear more messages.”

  • In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Carol and Don Harradine who practice Tai Chi, Qigong, and a range of Malaysian arts.

A number of years ago Carol suffered an injury during a sword fencing competition. Looking for gentle exercise to aid her recovery, she stumbled upon a Tai Chi class. After they both attended the classes, they were amazed by the benefits, which encouraged them to pursue 33 years of studying various energetic wellbeing practices. As part of this journey they have followed the Sufi path, helping them to incorporate a spiritual element to everything they do.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

Tai Chi and Qigong can be used for spiritual development, health and wellbeing, concentration and self-discipline.We get the most benefit when we practice any well-being and healing practices regularly. Having an awareness of the breath helps with healing and balance within the system. There is an overlap and a connection between different philosophies and forms of well-being practice. The breath is the essence of everything.

    BEST MOMENTS

“So there's no excuses anymore for people saying, I can't do that. As long as you can sit up straight or lie straight or whatever, you can breathe and you can concentrate, then you can do qigong, tai chi.”“It's really trying to be a pupil of humans because what you have to do is you listen to people and find out what they want to achieve, what we think they need. And then we try to give them that. It's easy being a teacher, but the truth of it is, you've got to go back and you've got to be a pupil, you've got to study and you've got to study the people that come along to you.”“If you can breathe properly, if you can just imagine for a while that what you're breathing in is not just gas and chemicals, but it's an energy.”“So you're breathing that energy in. And then you're moving that energy around the body, and you know, and some people take it further, they move the energy around and they give it to other people.”“Trust me, your mind wanders off and you have to bring it back. It's one of the most hardest things. So all of this is teaching you willpower to do that.”“To get the real benefits, you have to do a little bit very often, a little bit, and the old Chinese masters always say, it's like putting down a piece of rice paper on the ground, put a bit down one day, two days, three days. After a year, you can actually see you've got a pile of paper.“So, when you start to think about your thoughts, and then to say those thoughts, you have to have breathe to say the thoughts, to say the words, and that then gives you the impetus for the good deeds."“Get to the nuts and bolts of them all and dig deep. You'll find the same message and philosophy going through the whole thing.”“Live your life by that, good thoughts, good words, resulting good deeds.”

Animals can communicate with us to show us what we need to know about ourselves and each other. We are all connected to one another energetically. We can influence our environment by working on ourselves.

    BEST MOMENTS

And on this occasion, I had a hideous accident, ended up in being airlifted to hospital.”“They just see into our souls. And they require us to be authentic because they don't know how to be anything other than that. And they're the epitome of emotional intelligence as well.”“That's just something special to be around that kind of energy and what they need from us is for us to get out of our heads and work with our own emotional intelligence and listen to what our bodies are telling us.”“They can't do role play. They don't, it isn't on their agenda. They don't know how to do it. So, every interaction is completely genuine and honest.”“The horses were where I found my safe place, so I just used to ignore the horrid girls who were picking on me and just go and spend time in a field or a stable with a horse and I was as happy as Larry and they just create that safe space.”“We've got a great connection. And so, I kind of feel what they're showing me and what they're telling me, but, and I've always assumed it's just because I've grown to know them.”“And that's something that I believe very strongly, that on that energetic level, we are all connected and anything that I do in the here and now ripples out and affects, you know, completely everybody and everything.”“I think the main one for me is get out of your head and listen to what your body is telling you about the situations that you find yourself in and the relationships that you find yourself in. Really tune into those gut instincts and listen to your emotional intelligence.”
