We are excited to be hosting the podcast Stories from the Epicenter. Created by UCSC Digital Scholarship Librarian Dr. Daniel Story, this series explores the history of the Loma Prieta Earthquake in Santa Cruz County. Episodes will be posted every Monday! Don't miss out on the Revisiting Stories from the Epicenter this Thursday at 5:00PM at the Digital Scholarship Commons in the Basement of McHenry Library. From the event- On this the 35th anniversary of the Loma Prieta Earthquake, we revisit the Stories from the Epicenter podcast project, which explored the experience and memory of the earthquake in Santa Cruz County. In a panel conversation, we’ll discuss the earthquake’s effects on the county, what it was like to document that story, and what are the strengths of audio as a medium for recounting stories like this—whether local history, stories of disaster, or questions of memory.
Lead producer and Digital Scholarship Librarian Daniel Story joins award-winning radio producer and Stories contributor Nikki Silva along with other voices from the project. Come with your questions and ideas, or come just to listen. Registration is optional.
