  • Welcome back to another episode of the Underground Society Podcast. Today we have the “founder” of Yeedm, Taylor Kade. And if you are wondering what Yeedm is, it is simply combining the country songs that many people know and love with the EDM that you and I have such a passion for.

Taylor has made so many opportunities for himself from playing a whole Yeedm set at EDC to recently creating some originals with country star Chase Wright just by leaning into what he is passionate about and making it his own!

His biggest lesson and how he has created such a unique lane for himself is by utilizing the power of social media. He says “The amount of traction that you can get from posting a video for free, is absolutely unbelievable” and he wishes that more artists would lean into the tools that we have right at our fingertips. (literally)

Thank you so much for tuning in, enjoy the episode!

  • Welcome back to another episode of the Underground Society Podcast. In this episode we talk with Nosphere who had a tweet “explode” with over 600k engagements where he mentions Ghost Production.

While Ghost Production is frowned upon in this industry, it happens a lot more than you would think. But that wasn’t the problem

A part of what Nosphere does is ghost production. It’s a great way to make money and he has been very successful at it. But today he tells us a story of something that we all should look out for in this industry which is getting taken advantage of or “used” by one of his clients that he was producing for.

As soon as Nosphere progressed and began to understandably raise his ghost production prices, his client decided to dip and move onto the next young artist who would do the job for a lot cheaper.

His biggest piece of advice? DO NOT DO ANYONE FAVORS in this career field, you will most likely end up feeling used.

Thank you so much for tuning in, enjoy the episode!

  • Welcome back to another episode of the Underground Society Podcast. I’m not surprised that our guest today, Koji Aiken has become as successful as he has.

When Koji was growing up, his dad was a professional Juggler and he saw his dad commit his life to growing his career and going from performing on streets all the way up to big sanctioned events.

In our conversation, I was very curious as to what he has learned from having a dad who was in the performing arts and he claims that besides the understanding and the support that came along with it, it showed him an example of what it means to truly “Do what makes you happy” and not settle for a career that is unfulfilling to you.

  • Welcome back to another episode of the Underground Society Podcast.

Our guest today, Carol, is the first young artist that I have seen in a while that has put an immense amount of time, money, and effort into the branding and live performance of his act.

You see Carol grew up a massive fan of all things haunted. Building news channel worthy haunted houses with his dad to raise money to donate to charity for children, gave him the foundational business knowledge that he has used in his music project today.

However, there is one key factor to his success that he always makes sure to give credit to which is - his dad. Growing up as someone who is gay and the fact that he was into all things haunted, he was very misunderstood by some of his family, colleagues and friends and in the early phases of his career it was hard for him to get booked for shows since his brand was so “out there”.

But there was one person who always supported him no matter what, his dad. And in this episode we talk all about how important it is to have at least one person in your corner who is judgment free and who is going to be there with you to support you no matter how crazy and wild your dreams are.

Thank you so much for tuning in, enjoy the episode!

  • Welcome back to another episode of the Underground Society Podcast. Our guest today, MPort, can be found on social media using his infamous Slug Filter making funny videos to his new releases that already have so much comedy “MPorted” into them.

You see, MPort got his name by importing comedy clips from movies, viral social media videos, and tv shows into his music. (i.e. Level 9 Turtle & Cha Cha Step w Tvboo)

One would think it was easy for him to conceptualize his brand and his project in this way but in our conversation, he explains that he not only had to build the confidence to do something unique and different “go right when everyone else goes left”. But he really had to first learn how to follow the rules of production in order to break them and stand out.

  • Welcome back to another episode of the Underground Society Podcast.

Our guest today, Sara Benyo, might be known for her vocal work with artists like Jessica Audifred or Freaky but there is so much more to her than what’s just on the surface or the vocal work that she has done.

For starters, Sara has also been djing and producing and is now touring as a solo act playing festivals like Breakaway and EDC! Furthermore, a GIANT part of her brand is spirituality (which of course intrigued us).

We are always told as believers to live by the phrase “WWJD” - What would Jesus Do and as you can tell right off of the bat, she writes music to heal people which is mirrored by the life that Jesus lived while he was here on earth. Today she describes how every single decision in her career is all centered around her faith and how she wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for her gift of music.

For her, she claims that no matter if it is about her writing, her spiritual practices, or even her use of certain substances, it all comes down to her intent behind the things she does. In this episode we hope to share with you why intention setting is so important and how it can help you walk more confidently as a believer in the music industry.

Thank you so much for tuning in, enjoy the episode!

  • Welcome back to another episode of the Underground Society Podcast.
You probably know today’s guest by one of his hit songs “Come Check This” which has received over 18M plays on Spotify alone! It originally went viral on TikTok with its own dance and quickly made its way to the top of the EDM charts.

What we thought was interesting about Fetish is his concept of his project as a whole. You see the name Fetish and you think of this polarizing idea of something that some may be very into and others maybe be very turned off from. But what Fetish attributes all of his success to is writing music that has a specific feeling which makes you want to get up and dance as well as truly leaning into being as authentic and true to himself as possible without questioning the opinions of others.

And today, he tells us all about what that authenticity means to him and how he continues to create music from that place no matter what genre that each individual song falls into in order to add to his grander idea of adding as many songs to the “Human Art Project” that he can.

Thank you so much for tuning in, enjoy the episode!

  • Welcome back to another episode of the Underground Society Podcast.

Today’s guest, Blvnkspvce, we have been wanting to get on for a while. Being from the same area as Justin, they had a lot of things in common right off the bat!

With playing shows in different countries, opening for huge artists like Subtronics, and even releasing music on his label Cyclops Records, Blvnkspvce has began making a name for himself in the dubstep and riddim scene in a HUGE way.

The thing is, when he began his music career he didn’t realize how much work it was going to take to become successful and for how long he was going to “suck” before he became confident in the music that he was making.

In this episode he shares with us how the song that he released on Subtronic’s label, he didn’t even like and how he was able to grow from “sucking” to touring the world playing his music with some of his best friends Sqishi & Hamro.

Thank you so much for tuning in, enjoy the episode!

  • Welcome back to another episode of the Underground Society Podcast.
Today’s guest is new to the EDM industry but has extensive experience in touring full time with one of Justin's childhood favorite bands 3 Doors Down, who is known for their song “Kryptonite” which has accumulated over 900M streams on Spotify alone!

Hunter Wurzelbacher (aka Wurzy Media) is someone who we could tell has a fire inside him about his life and anything that he is even remotely interested in. And lucky for us, one of those things that he has an interest in is the EDM scene. He claims that he has always dreamed about becoming an EDM dj and being a photographer, he would love to begin working more in the space shooting different shows and festivals.

Today we get to talk about some of the similarities as well as differences in what he is used to in the rock scene to what is new to him in the EDM scene, why he is so interested in coming into a new genre, as well as how to know your value when you are “the new guy” in a this industry.

  • Welcome back to another episode of the Underground Society Podcast.

Today we are introducing a quarterly (for now) podcast series “Faithful Frequencies” where Justin McGary and Austin Stout openly discuss their faith in Jesus and talk about what it means to be Christians while working in the Electronic Dance Music Industry.

As Christians, we believe that we are supposed to surrender to God’s plan and timing that he has for our lives. While it is difficult to do when dealing with things like marriage, career, finances, etc. it is even more challenging sometimes to surrender to God’s timing and lean on our faith in Jesus when it comes to our path in music.

In this episode, they talk about what made them fully surrender in their own lives and how much of a difference it has made for both of them.

Thank you so much for tuning in, enjoy the episode!

  • Welcome back to another episode of the Underground Society Podcast.

We have talked about how important it is to wear earplugs but we personally have never talked to anyone who works in the music industry that is Hard of Hearing.

But today that changes, because we have Eva Billy Singer who is an agent for Corson (who works with some of your favorite dubstep artists including many from the Disciple team). And who also runs her own woman only operated agency as well called “Seaview Talent”. To tell us all about what it is like to have troubles with her hearing when working in such an auditory work environment.

I hope this episode inspires you to never let anything ever hold you back. No matter what your “disadvantage” may be, remember that the ones who truly make it in this field have overcome every single adversity that has come their way and if you want it badly enough nothing should stop you from reaching your goals.

Let me ask you, have you ever heard a high level artist’s song and before you even saw who it was, you already could tell just based on what the song sounded like?

Well today, we dive deep into the new brand direction that Nimbvs is taking with their project that they say they have been struggling to figure out since day one. Because they enjoy making so many different types of music, it has been extremely hard for them to land on a “signature sound design” that most of the larger artists are known to have.

So instead of using a specific sound design or style to their music, they explain how they have taken more of an approach to make all of their art in a “cinematic” way.

Coming off the release of their brand new album “Genesis” they said that fans can expect more music coming from them that encapsulates a mixture between hard hitting dance music and Hans Zimmer (famous movie score / composer) and we couldn’t be more excited for them.

  • Welcome back to another episode of the Underground Society Podcast. Today we have the pleasure of having an absolute legend on the show, G-Rex, who has been a part of massive songs like Babatunde and Badders with Peekaboo and Skrillex.

But just like any other success story, there is the road of getting there

What a lot of people don’t see is that right before he released his breakthrough track “Babatunde” he was working odd jobs like landscaping, hanging up Christmas lights and living the “Starving Artist” lifestyle.

Fast forward almost 13 years into his career and he now has a collab on one of Skrillex’s biggest tracks, and is touring the world playing some of the most wobbly / experimental / trappy goodness that the bass music scene has ever heard.

They also get into talking about some of the latest news in the EDM world including Excision's Thunderdome vs Illenium's Trilogy, Skrillex winning another Grammy, TRNDS thoughts on awards ceremonies, Kayne West shouting out Excision for his visuals on Instagram, and Subtronics' new album titled Tesseract!

  • Hamro has been absolutely crushing the riddim scene the last few years and when he told me that he has only been producing since he 2020, I was SHOCKED!

Playing multiple dates and festivals such as Origins, Forbidden Kingdom, Summoning of the Eclipse and tour dates with Benda and Savage Society, Hamro has begun to make a stamp in the riddim scene unlike other young artists.

With everything happening so quickly with his career, I was curious to see if he even had any areas in his career that he struggled with. We cover everything from him losing his mom when he was only 13, being raised by his older sisters, and what it looked like for him to learn how to manage his finances in a time where it typically takes a considerable amount of time for promoters to pay their artists.

I have been looking up to Emma Kapotes since day one of the podcast because she herself runs one of the best podcasts in the EDM world “Rave Culture Cast”. She says her mission is to help serve as a guide to new members of the rave and festival scene.

With over SEVEN years of experience not only as a content creator but with creator coaching experience under her belt, we get into all of the most common pitfalls that she sees other creators fall into and how to overcome them.

We also get into her personal story of why she started making videos, working with huge brands like Lunchbox, Lunautics, and Beatbox as well as becoming a new mom this past year.

  • The Underground Society Team has been waiting a while for this one and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome the masked trio “Hostage Situation” to the show.

We have all seen masked DJs before (Mashmello, ATLiens, etc.) but what we haven’t seen is a trio of masked artists
until now. And what really sets these guys apart is the genuineness of their friendship.

After talking with these guys, we can really tell that their relationship is similar to a brotherhood. In this episode they share with us everything from their arguments, to their workflow and they even tell us countless stories of the craziness that happens to them not only on the road but just their everyday life.

They say that the relationship they have is the most important part of making this project successful and I hope that this episode will bring just as much laughter to you as it did for us during recording.

  • Happy New Year Society Members! We are back with a brand new episode to kick off our 2024 season. First off, I want to apologize for us taking a little hiatus. We were going through a lot of restructuring with the addition of a new co-host (Halley Wozniak - Kambi’s manager) as well as our regular scheduled time off for the holidays.

Today Halley and I discuss a bunch of hot topics in EDM news ranging from the EDMMYs, to Funko Pop AI that exploded on X (Twitter) last month and of course we couldn’t start the new year without telling you all what we are aiming to accomplish this year with our New Year’s resolutions.

I also hope you guys enjoy this new format! As we will be doing host / team only episodes once a month moving forward.
