  • Have you ever been called a name about your physical body that you wish you weren’t being called, but decided to play it off as a joke instead of standing up for yourself?

In this episode, Tara, Maria and Elizabeth talk about the importance of identifying the true source of our problems—whether it’s a tripped breaker in the kitchen or a deeper emotional wound, such as childhood nicknames that have stuck around too long.

The episode explores topics like inner child work, emotional healing, and how our early life experiences shape our current relationships, especially with ourselves. From fitness to mental health, they discuss how understanding the "why" behind our struggles allows us to fix them at the root, rather than just treating the symptoms.

    In this episode:

A funny story about appliances that weren't really broken—and the life lesson it taught. How childhood wounds can show up in adult life, especially as "adult temper tantrums.”The importance of finding the true source of emotional, mental, and physical issues.Working on identifying the needs of your inner child to bring about lasting change. Why we should stop commenting on appearanceEmbracing the parts of yourself that have been criticized and turning them into sources of pride.

“Let’s stop commenting on each other’s appearance. Even if it’s a joke, it leaves a mark.”

  • Have you ever been told by a doctor that ‘just losing weight’ is the only answer to your health concerns? You are not alone.

In this episode, Elizabeth shares a personal experience she recently had at the doctor's office. In December, she celebrated her 50th birthday and, as part of her routine health check-up, underwent some tests. The results revealed that she had high cholesterol. Seeking to understand more about her condition, Elizabeth asked the doctor for clarification. The doctor's recommendation was straightforward but surprising: lose 5 to 10 pounds.

This encounter sparks a broader discussion about weight stigma in health care and how it affects patient treatment and perception. Elizabeth, a registered dietitian and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, dives into the implications of such advice and the potential biases it reflects. Tune in to hear more about the actions Elizabeth decided to take based on this interaction, her insights on navigating health care as an advocate for intuitive eating, and her reflections on how weight-centric advice can impact overall well-being.
