Deep in the backcountry, 30 miles from the nearest trailhead, the duo's adventure was marked by stunning scenery, an encounter with a massive grizzly, and the thrill of dropping a trophy bull elk. But the beauty of the wilderness quickly gave way to a fight for survival.

As they were retrieving their elk, Todd was unexpectedly kicked by a horse, turning what should have been a celebratory moment into a harrowing ordeal. A Blackhawk helicopter from Cheyenne was ultimately dispatched for the rescue, highlighting the dangers that even the most prepared hunters can face in the wild.
