  • In the flow of healing waters and the urgent cry of the Earth, we hear the voice of the Celtic mother goddess Modron, also known as Matrona. A goddess of fertility, abundance and healing, but also of grief and loss and ancestral wisdom, she is still present, although hidden, in today's world. We find her myths in the tales of the Mabinogi, the Welsh Triads and modern tales of Avalon, and her image and veneration in the ancient religions of Celtic Gaul, where she first emerged as a river goddess.

We can trace echoes of her in ancient Indo-European texts and possibly even further back to the agricultural myths of the Neolithic. She is even present in the stars. Modron - Meeting the Celtic Mother Goddess takes a deep dive into this often overlooked goddess who has inspired our modern myths, combining solid academic research with suggestions for personal practice and ritual, from a modern day dedicant and scholar of Goddess veneration. Modron is emerging from the depths. Will you answer her Call?

  • Welcoming back Danielle today for a conversation about fairy tales as living, breathing repositories of ancient wisdom and magick.

In The Night House: Folklore, Fairy Tales, Rites, and Magick for the Wise and Wild, bestselling author and word-witch Danielle Dulsky peels back the layers of these timeless narratives to reveal their potent role as guides for navigating today’s world. Rich with insight and a deep reverence for the ancestral art of storytelling, Dulsky’s latest work reclaims the hidden power of fairy tales as spell books, treasure chests, and sacred rites.

Historically kept and transmitted by women, fairy tales are distinguishable from other types of folk tales for their magickal and supernatural elements, and because of this, they were often dismissed as trivial domestic fantasies for women and children. The Night House illuminates how this marginalization kept these stories safe from the witch-hunter’s noose and allowed women to safely store and transmit their ancient and sacred wisdom.

Each of The Night House’s nine chapters is a door to an otherworldly realm, unveiling the spiritual and practical magick embedded in tales like “Little Red Riding Hood “and “Cinderella.” By decoding their “glamour spells” and ancestral rites, Dulksy offers a path for readers to reconnect with the Earth, their ancestors, and their own spirits. Mythic images and Jungian universal archetypes arise, and “old ways” are made visible, revealing the call to continue the medicinal work of story keeping for the modern world.

  • Today I'm chatting with Davezilla about tech, the internet/apps, AI, and their place in witchcraft.

Magical AI Grimoire helps you to understand how to work with technology in the practice of your magic. Whether you’re trying to use promptcraft to perfect a spell, ChatGPT to outline and strengthen a ritual, or Midjourney AI to recreate what you’ve only seen on the astral plane, Davezilla will be your guide. AI apps can write spells, tell you how to perform them, and give you a list of materials needed. AI learns and adapts to you, and likewise as you transform, so transforms your AI. It’s symbiosis on a chaos magic level.

Witches and magicians have been using computers to organize sabbats and ceremonies for years. Astrology apps were some of the first applications written, and in most covens, it’s a good bet that at least one of the members works with computers. All across the globe, witches and magicians are finding that technology can have a spiritual essence and mind of its own or, rather, that the spirit world enjoys playing with tech as much as we do. The internet could be one more astral plane, for all we know. Renowned writers have contributed their expert tales to this collection, including Storm Constantine, Tracy Cross, and even Edgar Allan Poe. • Witch Blood Rising is a celebration of the ways that witchcraft has stubbornly kept itself alive in Western culture—and a call to action for all seekers who yearn for a witch’s life.

Growing up in an endless sea of California suburbs, where sacred groves and wise women only existed in movies, Asa West spent her childhood chasing visions she didn’t understand. When she found a guide to witchcraft in a tiny bookshop, she knew she’d found her calling—despite a patriarchal society’s efforts to keep her away from a life of mysticism.

But it’s not easy to awaken your witch blood in a culture that laughs at magic and renders women powerless. Although the market abounds with practical guides to witchcraft, it’s harder to find books that chronicle the art of living a witch’s life. Asa West uses her almost thirty years of magical practice to bring warmth, humor, and insight to a spiritual path that's at once immeasurably ancient and continually reborn. She explores all the ways that witchcraft rises up from the blood of its devotees and through subjects like the online herbalism industry, Marvel movies, witch-hunting manuals, bee priestesses, and tarot.

  • Today I'm joined by author Coby Michael to chat about poison plants and their potential use within your witchcraft practice.

Examining the art and science of working with noxious and malefic plants and fungi, Coby Michael discusses the occult properties of poison and how poison plants can be used in spell work and other magical operations. He looks at the plants of Fate and the divination practices they support, love magic with poison plants, shadow work, the devil’s garden, and the use of nightshades as power plants for medicine and magic. Presenting a detailed formulary, he shares rituals, magical correspondences, and recipes for working with specific poison plant allies and other baneful herbs of occult herbalism.
Exploring the path of dark herbalism, the author explains how it encompasses not only veneficium—poisonous plants and fungi—but all plants that humanity has tried to forget, from “invasive” plants and those we can’t domesticate to those that have been regulated arbitrarily or simply feared as “toxic” or “poison.” He shows how the dark herbalist seeks out plants that are adversarial or taboo because the qualities we consider “dark” are really the plant’s spiritual medicine and can offer powerful wisdom and healing. Examining poison history, lore, and occult toxicology, he explains how the aim of using these plants is not to cause physical death, but rather death of the ego. He shows how “poison” in this sense is an alchemical force that allows the practitioner to become a vessel for the forbidden fruit of knowledge and how the transmutation of our personal poisons can lead to powerful self-transformation.
