Only 0.7% of AI funding went to female founders. Yep you read that right...!
We need more women at the forefront of AI, whether that's building AI startups, getting funding, joining AI taskforces within their companies, or simply dabbling with ChatGPT to get the best out of it.
In a special bonus episode, Next Big Thing founder Lauren Ingram shares why this is now an urgent need - this year is when the critical conversations are happening about AI, and women need their voices heard in it.

Denzil Eden engineered an amazing conversational AI tool way before ChatGPT hit the news. Her product Smarty can organise your calendar with just a few words, and plays the role of your personal assistant.
Denzil has degrees in computer science & AI from MIT, and an MBA from Harvard, but found that the market wasn’t ready for her advanced product for a long time - and that pitching her startup now is a very different process now that people understand slick chatbots.
We talk about why AI literacy is so important, and what she would do differently if she started again today (spoiler alert: she wouldn’t build the tool just yet!).

Kate Ross has pivoted her digital agency of the last 15 years, called eight&four, to offer its own suite of AI tools because she was frustrated by the limitations of just using ChatGPT.
She shares the agency’s successes and the misses in building bespoke AI solutions, such as a tone of voice tool that a large travel brand now lets every employee use. Kate also gives us some good old fashioned British cynicism (or realism!) about the hype and bluster (and even white lies) about some of the AI tools out there.
She is also bullish on the future of creativity. So if you’re a marketer, work in an agency, or use tech to sell more in your business, this episode is for you!

Leanne Elliott Young knows how to capture the zeitgeist, whether at Nike in their highly secretive Rm72 team and collaborating with Virgil Abloh, or now at the helm of the Institute of Digital Fashion (IoDF), as a cofounding team of self-professed “architects of a new digital culture”.

Leanne also shares her vision for the future, where technology seamlessly integrates into our lives, and our consumption habits shift towards reselling rather than producing everything new.

Welcome back for Season 4! Noticed our rebrand?
What is Web3?
If you’re new here, Web3 is the next major iteration of the internet, and includes technologies like blockchain, NFTs, and even AI and the metaverse.
Today we talk to Lisa Mayer, Founder of Boss Beauties and former founder of Social Canvas, and her ongoing mission to inspire women and girls to be whatever they want to be - first through mentoring events, and later in Web3 by founding Boss Beauties as an NFT project and now a media and IP brand empire.
Lisa talks about how saying yes and putting yourself out there can get you amazing opportunities: from invitations to the White House, to getting funding from Serena Williams’ venture fund, and having Boss Beauties artwork hung on the wall at the New York Stock Exchange.

We have a *very* special guest for our season finale, and that is Martha Lane Fox, cofounder of lastminute.com.
Martha, nicknamed the ‘dotcom dinosaur’ by the press thanks to her lengthy career in tech, sits on the board of Chanel, WeTransfer, the British Chambers of Commerce and previously sat on the board of X (Twitter). She is also cofounder of karaoke bar chain Lucky Voice, and chancellor of the Open University.
We talk about her experiences leading at some of the world’s biggest companies, why the issues around the lack of women in tech still pervade, despite two decades of her spearheading change, and we touch on the accident that meant she was still hospitalised while the sale of lastminute.com went through for £577 million.
