The concept of work-life balance is broken. In todayās always-connected, hybrid-working world, focusing purely on the number of hours worked and how to separate work and life just doesnāt make sense. And yet - people still need to create balance in their lives - in fact they need it more than ever. Itās time we refreshed our definition of work-life balance. So Iām really excited for you to hear the second season of the āWork, Life, No Balanceā podcast!
In this intro, I talk you through what this season will and wonāt be about, so you can decide if itās for you. One call-out - this isnāt going to be the usual stuff like āyou should set boundariesā - because if thatās all there is to work-life balance, youāll already be doing it!

For our first bonus snippet - Iām delighted to give you an insight into the origins of the Work, Life, No Balance podcast. This was recorded over a month ago, and itās cut from an in-person chat I had with my sister, Anjali Raval, sat on the sofas in my living room. She draws on her own work-life balance and her experience as an employment lawyer to talk us through the importance of open communication between employer and employee.

A few months ago, I left a job after six rewarding but challenging years. I genuinely felt like I had come out of a long-term relationship. Even though I knew it was the right decision to leave, I felt lost. As the dust settled, I found I was struggling with the tension of wanting a new job that was just as stimulating, but that would give me greater balance - for me, that meant more time and energy for me, my wife, and other loved ones. So - this is a personal journey Iām going on. And I want to invite you to join me on that journey.
