Are Friends Electric? I can't be sure, but I do know that some Cars are. Either way, welcome to Will's Displeasure Principle. This is an episode of firsts and seconds for the You're Wondering Now? Podcast. It's my (Will's) first time flying solo, and it's our second season. I am back without a bang talking about the enigma that is Gary Numan. I was fortunate enough to see the penultimate show of his '45th Anniversary Tour', celebrating two of his seminal album 'The Pleasure Principle', and the album 'Replicas' which he did with the Tubeway Army. It took a while, but I did get into it, much like our listeners. Rest assured, normal programming will resume soon, but for now you can fill your ears with the dulcet tones of a man obsessed with synth pop, as well as loathing poodle-faced middle aged men at concerts. Who knows, these concert exploits might become a permanent fixture, if you like? For now, I feel compelled to urge you to give Gazza Numan, arguably one of this country's most slept on musicians, a listen. Cheers!

SEASON 1 FINALE
In the ninth installment of the pod (AND THE BLOODY SEASON FINALE), Will and D'rel turned the clocks back from the 2020s to the 1960s with The Beatles' final single, Now And Then & The Rolling Stones' newest album, Hackney Diamonds.
But rest assured, we're back at our best and STRONGLY disagree with each other on these releases. I guess the viewers are gonna have to pick a side (mine please because I'm right). And plus, he skipped out on my birthday to go to a MADNESS GIG of all things so I'm the natural protagonist to side with.
Personally, I put about 70% effort into hating both projects. And I was met with stern resistance in defence of the blast from the past reunion tour. All's fair in love and pints though and we made up afterwards.
And I know You're Wondering Now And Then, hasn't it been a while since those projects actually released? Well, that's just how long we've been debating about it for. But we've finally got it out now, right on time for your ears only!
And thanks for listening to our pod for Season 1! Season 2 is on it's way soon!!
We will be back... unfortunately!!!

This is the second and final part of the last part of our four-part 'special'. Having taken a well needed break of roughly a day-two months and a half, we finally get to hear the rest of the music that literally stops D'rel in his tracks.
We have the Beach Boys, we have The Boss (though others simply call him Bruce), we have Nirvana, we have the Kinks and even The Who! Sadly, there is no the What, Why, When and Where, though. I suppose they can't all stop us in our tracks,
In reality, Will feigns ignorance and D'rel explores some ruddy good music. What more could you want from a podcast, honestly? Neither of us can faithfully say there was more than 33%, collectively, put into this. Shame.

This is the second and final part of the last part of our four-part 'special'. Having taken a well needed break of roughly a day and a bit (that is a liberal estimation), we finally get to hear the rest of the music that literally stops D'rel in his tracks.
We have the Beach Boys, we have The Boss (though others call him Bruce), we have Nirvana, there's The Kinks, there's Radiohead...dare I say it there is even The Who! Sadly, there is no the What, Why, When and Where though; I suppose they can't all stop us in our tracks.
In reality, we see Will feign ignorance and D'rel explore some ruddy good music. What more could you really want from a podcast, honestly? Neither of us can faithfully say there was more than 33%, collectively, put into this. Shame.
Stay tuned for more effort, I think.

Welcome to the second instalment of our 4-part special, where this time we dive into the songs that stop co-host D'rel Gayle in his tracks. Now, these tunes are not necessarily his favourites of all time, even though it's perfectly fine if some of them are. These are the songs that evoke formidable feelings, throughout their duration. Dare we say it, but this might be the most effort we have ever put in. By forces far greater than us (not hard) and more omnipotent, we present to you our first episode ever mixed in stereo. Much like he did when it was my turn, I was forced to push the 83% mark as I was playing 'interviewer'. This is a fantastic, rich, myriad of music across most of the decades that have happened in the past century. Intense emotions to follow! We have 10cc (not 11), the masterful Orbison and even Radiohead. We won't promise good jokes, but we can promise slightly less disappointment than usual. Still, we edge closer to that glass of Britpop sparkling wine,Hosts: Will Spilsbury & D'rel GayleExecutive Producer: Josef Thompson | Instagram: Josef.thomp.sonMusic: Ellis McCormackEnquiries: [email protected]

In the second part of the first part of this episode, we round off the list of tunes that stop Will in his tracks.
Some powerhouses of music history like Paul McCartney and Elvis Presley kick off this ep of the pod. And I do my best to figure out the througline in the songs Will likes. (It might be songs that feel like sitting on a cloud, just guessing)
And can anybody slow dance with Will to sad songs?
This part is a lot shorter but I think we maintain a decent level of effort, about 64% which is good for us. And it gets quite sappy which makes a nice change from our usual sarcastic selves. We are human, you know?
Also, I know what You're Wondering Now? and the answer is yes, we did have some pints for Will's birthday a few days after the recording of this!

In the first 2 parts of the milestone 4-part special of The You're Wondering Now? Podcast, we'll be diving into the songs that stop co-host Will Spilsbury in his tracks. Not necessarily his all time favourite tunes, although there is overlap. But specifically the songs that provoke strong feelings from beginning to end.
And its effort off the charts by our standards (about 80%, at least from me since I had to interview him) as we talk affectionately about music across genres and decades that are most emotionally and sonically potent. There will be Stones rolling, there will be Beatles. There will be awful jokes. There will be mild disappointment (as usual). The odd laugh here and there. No pints this week though, but the classics make up for that.

This week, the boys are talking about the band that is Elbow. They are charming as well as consistent, plus they've got that one big hit, designed to test the acoustics of any arena.
Will we spot lead singer, Guy Garvey, drinking with the seldom seen kid? Will D'rel sneak diss Green Day again just for fun? Will we stay on topic for more than five minutes? You won't find out unless you listen! (The answer to the last one is no though).
So throw those curtains wide, one pod like this a week would see me right! There is no other podcast like this because they're all a bit better really, aren't they?

Two shiny happy, unemployed, people meet this week to discuss the one we love, that is R.E.M. Yes, the masterful rapid eye movers, the inimitable band that were formed in Athens, but not the Athens you think. We attempt to get to the bottom of finding out the frequency from Kenneth...seriously mate what is it? Just tell us! Despite our intense love for Rapid Eye Movements, this episode struggled to muster even 42% from us. Oh, and Lars Ulrich came and told us off for singing 'Happy Birthday', so we now owe him a few quid. We did reach out to R.E.M. to see if they wanted to come on and discuss the en d of the world as we know it, but they never got back to us...I guess we just aren't Michael's type.

In the sophomore episode of the pod, Will & D'rel this time tackle the age old debate of who won the Battle of Britpop: Blur or Oasis? The answer, much to no-one's surprise, was almost immediately agreed upon. (Though if it were truly up to me, the answer would be Pulp).
The podcast gets significantly cheesier, all to be washed down with a tasty Britpop beverage that is no less palatable.
We get interrupted cruelly by the music police, attempt to accurately locate Knebworth, and I know you're wondering now which artists we think embody Winter or Summer.
All that and the usual antics, at maybe 67% capacity. We honestly promise it'll get better after this one. Well at least for us, we might get a pint after recording.

In this inaugural episode of the You're Wondering Now? Podcast, Will and D'rel take on Paul Simon (not literally, because he'd beat us). We discuss Mrs. Robinson's cupcakes and how they should be properly stored, Paul Simon's two first names and why you're only occasionally allowed to call him Al. Crucially, we talk about Mr Simon's conflicting love triangle between Mrs. Robinson, Betty and himself - we hope Mr. Robinson is ok with it. Perhaps we will find out if he is still crazy after all these years?
