  • The life of an unassuming sociology professor in Canada gets turned upside down when he is accused of carrying out a 1980 bomb attack on a synagogue in Paris. Hassan Diab says heʼs innocent — but French investigators are determined to prove otherwise.

What follows is a decades-long story about the pursuit of justice, wild reversals of fortune, and lives torn apart. On one side is a French court in dogged pursuit of justice for a devastating attack on Parisʼs Jewish community. On the other, an ordinary man who maintains his innocence.

In the first podcast investigation into this case, journalists Dana Ballout and Alex Atack present exclusive interviews, rich archival material, and extensive original reporting, taking listeners through the twists and turns of this extraordinary story, all the while trying to answer the questions:

Is Hassan Diab guilty, or is he a scapegoat? And what if one person’s justice means committing an injustice to another?

The Copernic Affair is coming January 22nd. Canadaland supporters can listen to the whole series early and ad-free beginning November 11.  canadaland.com/join

  • In 2006, Canadian Huseyin Celil, a Uyghur refugee, travelled with his wife and children to Uzebekistan to visit family. What was supposed to be a family reunion ended when he was arrested under false pretenses and eventually delivered to China where he was sent to prison. 17-years later, his fate remains unknown and his family desperate for answers.

‘Extradition: The Search for Huseyin Celil,’ a six-part investigative series from TVO Today, reopens the diplomatic cold case. With China implementing harsher crackdowns on its Uyghur population, Huseyin was cut off from communicating from his family. No one knows how he’s doing or where he is. In the wake of the release of the Two Michaels in 2021, the series re-examines why Canada couldn’t do the same for Huseyin. It investigates whether the Canadian government has done all it can to release him, and takes matters into its own hands to get more information on Huseyin’s whereabouts today. Hosted by Yusuf Zine.

  • More than true crime. Thirty years ago, Lenore Rattray, 21, was taken at gunpoint from a business in Vancouver to a hideout in North Vancouver. For over a week she was held and sexually assaulted by her captor until he was apprehended by North Vancouver RCMP.

Ms. Rattray, for the last three decades, has chosen to remain silent about her traumatic experience. Until now.

It's a personal account of survival, living with trauma, and how her past experiences have impacted her life both professionally and personally, especially as a mother to her young daughter.

A story that needs to be told.

Do you want to know what's happening in all the current high profile trials, but get bored sitting through all the legal jargon? Brandi is a true crime enthusiast that likes to take the complicated court information, break it down, research it, talk to the experts, then present it all as a compelling story.

Brandi follows along with current trials, popular cases, missing persons, and interviews with the experts and people involved.

Season 1: "Jury Duty" episodes where Brandi breaks down current trials, gives recaps of information, witnesses, courtroom drama, evidence, and more. Main stream media only gives you bits and pieces of the story, 13th Juror Podcast episodes give it all.

Season 2: "Conspiracy in Canton" Episodes include a deep dive into the controversial case of Karen Read- a woman arrested and charged with the murder of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O'Keefe in January 2022. The prosecution says she hit John with her car and left him to die in the cold, however Karen's attorneys are alleging there's a coverup involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Every new piece of information brings new questions, and nothing is what it seems. The controversy stretches outward to law enforcement, officials, even the reporters covering the case, and each side accuses the other of a conspiracy.

"Exclusive Interview Series": Listen in on interviews Brandi has done with some of the top names in the true crime and legal world. These are the audio versions of the interviews that can be found on Brandi's YouTube channel: http://youtube.com/@brandichurchwell
