  • A Times of Malta podcast that takes a closer look at the stories shaping Malta today. Hosted by award-winning journalist and assistant editor Mark Laurence Zammit.

  • Next on Intrige: Lockerbie

One of the world's longest running conspiracies. Who was really behind the Lockerbie bombing?

On 21 December 1988, a plane explodes over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing 270 people. A Libyan man, Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, is convicted.Despite a global investigation Megrahi's conviction, and the failed appeals that followed, are still tainted - for some - with doubt and conspiracy theory. Myles Bonnar wants to find out why.

Now, almost four decades on; fresh evidence and a new trial. The alleged bomb maker Abu Agila Masud is in custody, with a trial expected to begin any day. He denies any involvement in the Lockerbie bombing.

Journalist Myles Bonnar (Dead Man Running, Shiny Bob) picks apart the original investigation and finds himself in a world full of militant groups, top secret files and grieving families who will never give up on the pursuit of the truth.

Intrigue: 'Jaw-dropping', 'gripping', 'bingeable,' 'thrilling' - dramatic true stories and investigations that reveal how the world really works.

  • Emma is a high achieving, middle class girl from west London. She seems destined for a successful career in banking and a comfortable British life. Until she makes a decision that will come to define her. In 2001 Emma marries Bashar al-Assad - the now infamous dictator of Syria.

In the early days, people inside and out of Syria dared to hope. Alongside his beautiful, progressive wife, Bashar promised to modernise the country.

But when the Arab Spring reached Syria in 2011, Bashar's regime showed itself for what it really was: a brutal force, willing to capture and kill ordinary Syrians demanding change. And in all the years that a war raged on, Asma stands by her husband. She seemingly ignored the desperate pleas to stop her husband from killing his own people.

But what did she really know about the atrocities her husband’s government was carrying out? And what choices did she really have? Some people allege that she actually assisted the regime and cashed in on the war, that she herself is a war criminal. Others say she tried to run away but was trapped, held hostage by a regime who threatened her life and her children.

So, who is the real Emma?

Hosted by Alan Davies, each episode brings together 2 guests, scientists, psychologists, economists, sociologists and journalists to discuss the unexpected consequences of losing something vital to our world.

Each episode starts with a bold, imaginative question: What would happen if something fundamental—like the moon, salt, sleep, or even something as random as rats—suddenly disappeared from the world? What's the immediate fallout? How does society cope? And how long would it take before things started unravelling?

  • Adam Blackwell and Amy Stirling met as graduate students in anthropology, both obsessed with studying the same dead language and long-lost culture. Their relationship was always... complicated. They were bitter rivals, ideological opposites, and even went out on a date once - though they’d really prefer if everyone forgot about that last thing, thank you very much.

Then, they became the first two people in thousands of years capable of doing magic.

Over the next five years, they became global superstars, both revered and feared. Their powers led to a tragedy unlike any the world had seen before. Now, the world's first two magicians of the modern age must figure out the truth of their power, its consequences, and their relationship with one another before they do more damage to the world.

  • Why is someone leaving dozens of dead animals as a mafia-style warning in the British countryside? Buried is the multi award-winning investigative series digging into some of the most disturbing environmental stories in history. In this thrilling new investigation, Buried: Dead Rabbit, reporters Dan Ashby and Lucy Taylor team up with the wildlife presenter Chris Packham to investigate. First, villagers find twenty mangled animals outside a primary school, then fifty by a farm shop, blood smeared over the doors.

Are they a Godfather-like threat? A taunt? A strange Satanic sacrifice? Or - just like a classic horror movie - the first flash of a monster, lurking in the shadows?

The answer leads the team to uncover a terrifying criminal underworld operating in the heart of the countryside. Masked men in 4x4s, violent rage, and tens of thousands of pounds at stake. Chris Packham tells us his own dead-animal threats escalated into a car bomb outside his house. Farmers and villagers say they feel abandoned, and the problem is darker - and far more widespread - than anyone thought.

Dead Rabbit begins like a folk horror movie but turns into a gripping, fast-paced thriller about the takeover of illegal hare coursing in the countryside.

This is the third series of Buried, bringing bingeable, fast-paced mysteries exposing urgent environmental true stories you've almost certainly never heard of. Husband-and-wife investigative duo Dan Ashby and Lucy Taylor dive into secret worlds of organised crime unfolding in our waste (Series 1) or trails of toxic chemicals that go right to our plates (Series 2, Buried: The Last Witness). Each series is a separate story bringing to light never-before-heard recordings and boxes of explosive legal documents, inviting the audience to unpick crimes or scandals with them.

  • In a country obsessed with gossip, the great and the good fear one thing more than any other - scandal.

British scandals change the course of history. They bring down governments, overthrow the rich and cause the mighty to fall. Some are about sex, others about money. In the end, they’re all about power.

But often at the heart of a scandal, there are ordinary human stories. Stories of those caught up in the swirl of outrage.

Who was really to blame for what happened? Why did they do it? And when all is said and done, did anything really change?

From the creators of Business Wars, American Scandal and Ghost Story, comes British Scandal. Each week, hosts Alice Levine and Matt Forde delve into the murkier side of the British elite, from Phone Hacking to Profumo to the short-lived premiership of Liz Truss. Because sometimes the truth doesn’t set everyone free…

Audible subscribers can listen to all episodes of British Scandal ad-free right now. Join Audible today by downloading the Audible app.

Each episode examines mysterious phenomena — from UFO sightings and historical oddities to supernatural claims, urban legends, conspiracies, and listener “weird questions” — through careful reasoning, evidence-based evaluation, and thoughtful Christian reflection. The show blends curiosity with clarity: unpacking mysteries with respect for science, history, and the Catholic faith, without resorting to sensationalism. If you love encountering the unusual, asking tough questions, and appreciating the world’s mysteries through both intellect and wonder, this podcast offers engaging, insightful conversation every week.

  • Afua Hirsch and Peter Frankopan tell the wild stories of some of the most extraordinary men and women ever to have lived – and ask whether they have the rep they deserve. Was Napoleon a hero or a tyrant - or both? (And, while we’re at it, was he even short?) Legacy is the show that looks at big lives from the perspective of now – and doesn’t always like what it sees.

  • This subject deals with the cultural history of the ancient Greek world through both textual sources and the material evidence of art and archaeology. The period covered runs from the Iron Age world of Archaic Greece through to the late Classical period (roughly from the 8th century to the 4th century BCE). We will concentrate mainly on Athens and mainland Greece, but we will also focus on the Greek expansion into other parts of the Mediterranean world (Sicily and South Italy) in the process of colonisation. Historical texts will be combined with literary sources and archaeology to explore the physical nature of ancient Greek cities and social issues such as the position of women, ethnicity, sexuality and slavery in the ancient Greek world.

  • Most of what HR preaches sounds good on an office wall and falls apart the moment it meets reality. Lies of HR takes one comfortable HR belief at a time — "people first," "hire for culture fit," "engagement equals productivity" — calls it what it is, and takes it apart in three steps: the myth, the cold truth underneath it, and the reframe an honest leader uses instead. Not HR-bashing — just swapping things that sound good for things that actually work.

Created by Martin Spiteri Schillig, drawn from sixteen years running HR inside iGaming, working alongside founders and leaders who were openly sceptical of much of what HR preached. The arguments and the point of view are his. The voices you hear are AI — but every episode is built from his own notes. A new Lie drops regularly.

New season: From singing superstar Beyoncé, to footballing legend Cristiano Ronaldo, Simon and Zing will rate their wealth, power, legacy and associated controversies, putting them to the test with a playful, totally unscientific scorecard. It's not just how billionaires made their money; it's what they did with it next.

So, what do you think? Make up your own mind. Are they good, bad, or just another billionaire? Let us know your thoughts, and we may include your comments and suggestions in a future episode.
